They're discussing how this decision could affect the future game titles, that try to create their own kind of fiction, that might not please everyone. Like people using this as an example to force other developers to cave in and change their own stories to better fit the players' likings.
Can't say I agree with it all, if they completely change the endings, I'll be upset, but if they just tweak them, I don't think any harm is done.

It's happened in the past. Fallout 3 had such a shockingly poor ending compared to the rest of the game that Bethesda released Broken Steel to address the issue. IGN never made such a big deal then, which makes things tell tailingly obvious that they are being goaded into it.
The endings are a smoke screen for the shoddy quality of the rest of the game anyways.

I thought Mass Effect 3 was great up until the ending.

Play the game and come to your own conclusion, IMO it paled in comparison to the high standard of the last two games.

I liked Mass Effect 3 a lot more than Mass Effect 2, I thought Mass Effect 2 had just as bad of an ending as Mass Effect 3.

I feel the same, but for different reasons. They "finished the fight", whether it ended well or not. At least for now, I'm not buying a BioWare product(DLC or otherwise) for quite a while. Too busy negotiating spy plans to a psychic-commander rat with a penchant for caps lock. Why should we care?

This. I wish more people would take a stand in that way instead of shouting "shut up and take my damn money!" at BW for a new ending.

No, I meant why should we care about IGN.
