They worked so hard to deliver us what they thought was a great product and they were probably so excited about telling us more about Mass Effect 3 at Pax, but now they're probably so sad and scared that all of their former beloved fans now hate them.
Regardless of how you feel about the ending, Bioware needs our prayers and love to support them during this tough time. Please don't be mean to them.
Does anyone else feel sorry for Bioware's Pax conference?

They'll have the rest of their lives to bask in our praise if they fix the ending.

I still support Bioware in regards of fixing the ending... beyond that, before the ending is fixed, I'm done with them.

They brought this on themselves. So no, I don't feel particularly sorry for them.

Well if they make their announcement before PAX the wouldn't have to worry.

If they do the right thing, they needn't be worried.

Nope. I think they brought this shtstorm on themselves. LOTS OF SPECULATION, indeed...

Actually, I'm hoping they are prepared for backlash and have something ready to ease the suffering.

Given the PAX guys are siding with bioware on this one, I expect they will keep the crowd from doing anything to make bioware feel unwelcome..

Sorry, what? "Don't be mean to them"? They didn't accidentally break our vase or something, they deliberately drove their franchise into ruin for the sake of being clever. I sincerely hope nobody will make a mess of their PAX conference, cause that would benefit nobody, but I'm very far from loving them and praying for them right now. They disrespected their audience, the backlash is exactly the kind of response they should expect.Veggiesofmanycolors wrote...

They deserve whatever they get, to be honest. But I wouldn't worry about their PAX panel. You want a lot of attention at that sort of thing, and I think they'll have more than enough.

First of all - I don't hate Bioware or anyone that works under their banner. They simply disappointed me - and, from my point of view - they should have seen it coming. Do I feel for those that really worked their love into the game? Yes, I totally do and I wouldn't wish this on anyone. But to just sit by and pat the entire company on back is not what I will do. From where I stand - they messed up and they should stand up to the problem and try to fix it. If I see that courage and determination, they will have my full support again. If not - I will be much more critical and skeptical with future BioWare products. Then again, they could simply decide that the many unhappy fans are the problem and fix it by letting us go - we'll see.

Eh, I'm sorry but at some point people at Bioware stopped caring about the product they made. I know some community manager is going to read this and feel urged to respond that the opposite is the case, but after Deception getting approved for publishing and ME3's ending, what else am I supposed to think?
There's plenty evidence of Bioware knowing how to make good games and good stories, they've done so often enough in the past. But the Bioware of the past also did not take a positive reception for granted, and that's what the current Bioware is doing by agreeing to Pax expecting that people would like ME3 anyway. It's easy to show up at conventions when you expect to be showered with praise.
Well, they won't, and if this is what it takes to restore some humility to the company then I'm ok with that. Fewer publicity stunts and media attention, and more integrity in game development would be a great way to go. Because as it stands I'm regretting the money I spent on ME3 and related products, and so it's only fair that the folks running the show at Bioware regret some of the choices they've made lately.
With that said, I harbour no grudge towards anyone in particular. Not gonna say I'm a fan of the people in charge, but I don't want to see them end up without a job or jumping from a bridge because people hate their work either. What I do want is for them to just accept that things are as they are and do better next time, and maybe learn some lessons from this. If Bioware was a charity and Mass Effect a donation to gamers I would be the last to raise my voice. But I spent money on this, and as such I am entitled (yes, I said it) to a little quality for my cash.

Yep, this.
Not to mention they are doing a god awful job at handling this. I can't feel sorry for them after this. If they fix the ending, then they are on the right track.

This. I have sympathy for the individuals, but I have no sympathy for the company. They do the right thing, then we can start on the long road to gain my trust back.

They have their praise from professional critics, the opinion of us lower beings doesn't matter to them. Isn't that what Ray said in his blog?

The event will pass quietly, because all guests will be screened before they let them in. No one will be allowed in if they have a question about the ending. Just watch.

I just hope the audience isn't a bunch of jerks to them.
I mean, I hope they get asked hard questions and whatnot, but I hope it stays civil.

Which is why EA comes by and harvest succesful companies to ensure that never happens.
