So.... Ashley on the Normandy.

She barely even visits the Citadel.
Javik is a more interesting character on the Normandy, chats with Liara, Vega, moves around, etc. He's just a DLC character, who appears to be better implemented than a character some of us have kept since ME1.
I assume Kaidan is the same.
Is there any truth to a possible planned DLC to kill off Ashley/Kaidan in ME2, but was canceled? Thus the reason for a pretty poor implementation?

Charming, huh?
Anyways, she probably doesn't talk to people because they're mostly all aliens. She don't take too kindly to them kinds round here.

I even waited to recruit Javik on Eden Prime the first time because I figured Ashley would have lots to say about being back there. She said, maybe one thing about it, certainly not enough to make waiting worth it.

Technically Javik isn't DLC. You can find files of him on the disc, I think? They just made him DLC so you pay more.

But none of the dialogue files, so yes, technically the Javik you know, the Javik you interact with, is DLC.
Also, Bioware dropped the ball with Ashley (and I assume Kaidan). What an unbelievably boring character. In fact, they really messed up with all the human squaddies. Whoever wrote them wasted the opportunity to evolve the characters through their despair over their homeworld. It seems that that's what happens with every other squaddie - Tali becomes more emboldened over the course of the trilogy, Garrus goes from a (fairly) rookie C-Sec officer to a ruthless vigilante and comes out the other side a trusted friend and leader, Liara actually grows up and all of the (sadly non-squaddie) ME2 characters get pretty decent resolutions, but Kaidan/Ashley/James just make me want to sacrifice Earth because, lets face it, I'm not missing out on much there.

Yeah. I know a lot of people didn't like Kaidan to begin with. But if you thought he was boring before well..lets just say talking to him sometimes would make drying paint seem exciting. It doesn't help that there are very few conversations to be had, mostly just DAII styles things that cut out.

Depends on what version of Ashely you have. Mine had a nice reuinion with Tali and got me to chat with Liara after her home got blown up.
I have no idea how'd she act if you kept her closed off in ME1 though.
She really could have used a bit more crew interaction though. Either with aliens or the humans depending on her character at that point.

so anyone who didn't import a character all the way from ME1 probably got less dialogue? ugh.

Kaidan and Ashley were literally the ones who have been with Shepard the longest, I was really hoping the VS would have a lot to talk about...but no.
I mean, the whole sequence with them getting creamed and you visiting them in the hospital was really nice, I thought, but then they sort of clammed up when they got better.

Haha. I know that feel.
In my first playthrough it felt like forever waiting for Tali.
Normandy isn't the same without her on board.

I know people talked down on Jacob in ME2 for basically being Black Kaidan but at least he has a relatively interesting 'good father' complex. Kaidan somehow makes 'gifted child who kills cruel teacher' feel more like a tax return than a backstory.

Because, it was hard enough to put two different characters in the game due to choices, do you think they would actually have a lot of content?
Should be on par with the others at least.

I was actually sad that Tali got next to zero dialogue aboard the Normandy. :/ At least Garrus was fleshed out.

Well then they should have killed them off if they didn't want to deal with how hard it was going to be.
There is no excuses for half assing, especialy since there is so much of that in this game.

Hmmm I liked Kaidan in ME 1. Well If liked him in this game too, about one of the only things I did like. I just wished I'd been given more of a chance to like him a bit more. It feels a bit like most of the ME1 team got left hung out to dry. I think I spoke to Tali once. They could have done more with what Kaidan was going through but they didn't..oh well.

yes. I don't see how it's hard to put two different characters in a game. How is it any different from any game with optional companions?

Yeh, Garrus was great. Often had something to chat about, they did a great job there.

I also wondered about this. I was starting to think she didn't really say anything other than "Hey Shepard," Until after the Thessia mission. Does she talk more if you romance her?
Nope. That's the sad part, she was my LI through the whole series and I got jack nothing on the Normandy. She was really underused.
