Heh.. I was so annoyed with her lack of trust regarding shep/cerberus that I told her to take the job with Hacket. Glad I didn't miss anything. :P

Maybe it's a bug, like nobody in engineering says anything if Kaidan is alive. Unlikely, but worth looking into.

Technically Javik isn't DLC. You can find files of him on the disc, I think? They just made him DLC so you pay more.

Charming, huh?

Anyways, she probably doesn't talk to people because they're mostly all aliens. She don't take too kindly to them kinds round here.

But none of the dialogue files, so yes, technically the Javik you know, the Javik you interact with, is DLC.

Also, Bioware dropped the ball with Ashley (and I assume Kaidan). What an unbelievably boring character. In fact, they really messed up with all the human squaddies. Whoever wrote them wasted the opportunity to evolve the characters through their despair over their homeworld. It seems that that's what happens with every other squaddie - Tali becomes more emboldened over the course of the trilogy, Garrus goes from a (fairly) rookie C-Sec officer to a ruthless vigilante and comes out the other side a trusted friend and leader, Liara actually grows up and all of the (sadly non-squaddie) ME2 characters get pretty decent resolutions, but Kaidan/Ashley/James just make me want to sacrifice Earth because, lets face it, I'm not missing out on much there.

Not really james i found him wayyyyyy more interesting then ashley or kaiden.

Yeah, I was dissapointed with the lack of VS dialogue on my playthroughs. But compared to everything else, it was fairly minor.

Minor is the position I;ve relegated every flaw to when compared to the ending.

Apparently Ash and Kaidan have LOADS more recorded dialogue, and its actually present on the disc, you just can't access it. Patch is needed desperately.

Romanced Ashley in ME1, stayed faithful in ME2.

ME3 making me regret the decision. Her character went from "I don't trust aliens" to "I don't trust Shepard". No real dialogue or development. The "romance" consists of a few scenes with auto-dialogue.

Thanks a lot, Bioware. And yes, Ashley and Kaiden had almost zero development. For ME1 players who knew them already, I guess it doesn't matter too much. But what a waste. I thought the smaller squad was supposed to prevent this. As it is I learned and know close to nothing about James, Ashley or Kaiden. I didn't learn or really gain any new insights into Garrus. Or Tali. Hell, the most fleshed out character is Jahvik.

So why the small squad?

How come she barely talks and doesn't travel around the Normandy at all?

She barely even visits the Citadel.

Javik is a more interesting character on the Normandy, chats with Liara, Vega, moves around, etc. He's just a DLC character, who appears to be better implemented than a character some of us have kept since ME1.

I assume Kaidan is the same.

Is there any truth to a possible planned DLC to kill off Ashley/Kaidan in ME2, but was canceled? Thus the reason for a pretty poor implementation?

bioware struck out on Ashley's interactions period, their second AB was the love scene and they got an RBI with that.

The VS was just handled poorly in this game. That fact that you could kill the VS was just pandering to the fans that hated the VS. It really pissed me off.

If that's the case then I hope it is patched eventually.. and not released as 'Extra Dialogue DLC' or something ridiculous, because it does feel as if there's a lot missing.

Yeah. I know a lot of people didn't like Kaidan to begin with. But if you thought he was boring before well..lets just say talking to him sometimes would make drying paint seem exciting. It doesn't help that there are very few conversations to be had, mostly just DAII styles things that cut out.

Nothing bad about the actor that played Kaidan but i think most of the rage/dislike comes from Kaidan being the same vo as Carth "wet blanket/i nag on every choice you make" Onasi and most of us myself included have the pavlovan responce of "Oh no not again"

But I was not impressed how they handled the charaecter devlopment of ashley, the love scene they hit out of the park even the dream sequence of death and destruction and Ashley trying to comfort you, makes sense.   Even her to a point of not trusting you becasue your a cerberus science project, I get.  They did beat that horse to a point of death though but no interaction .. just doesnt add up.   She could interact with vega, swap war stories. Talk to the doctor .. talk to old friends like joker.   The lack of iteraction was noticed but its blaint on playthrough number 2

One of the guys on the Ash thread is super good at modding, he claimed to have found it and unlocked it. However, no Youtube videos have been released as of yet.

I'm incredibly disappointed with what they did to Ash.

Aside from my Shep's LI, Ashley was the person I wanted back the most. I feel like all of her potential was squandered. I didn't romance her, so she barely seemed to have any connection to my Shepard. She kept up the walls of professionalism between them and when they did have 'heart-to-heart' moments, it's like she just needed Shepard to help her out with her problems with little to no reciprocation. I guess Shepard doesn't matter much to her if it's not ManShep and he's not sleeping with her. :(

Jack for instance seemed too emotionally damaged in ME2 for her to ever bring down her barriers and be truly good friends with my Shepard. And yet in ME3, they actually felt like friends, going out dancing and talking about personal stuff. If Jack could do it, what's Ashley's excuse?

I also feel like they didn't really explore anything new with her character. Tali takes half of the game to show up and at least she has new stuff going on. Ash's only development is becoming a Spectre, and they don't even really explore what that means for her. The big thing I was hoping Ashley would bring up is her opinion on aliens and if it had changed at all after these years. Nope, never came up.

And then there's the fact that she doesn't really talk to anyone else either. It's really depressing seeing her in that big observation room, just sitting around all alone.

Dialog is dollars and so they made Ashley a parrot. Since they already ruined her romance on Horizon and made her irritatingly suspicious in ME3, I just booted her off of the ship after the first play through.

Kasumi had files on disc as well, including in mission dialogue and her actual powers. Isn't it funny how people will take a functional model and the image from the squad select screen and assume that everything must be there? Oh wait, no it's not especially since there's absolutely 0 evidence that he was intended for the main game as he was developed. Unless you'd like to claim that Kasumi was "ready for launch" but was just held back 6 months for giggles?

If they'd included all the dialogue they cut out, then the 'suspicious' storyline would have been a drop in the ocean. Again, recorded dialogue that is on the disc.

because I was tired of waiting for Tali.

Haha. I know that feel.

In my first playthrough it felt like forever waiting for Tali.

Normandy isn't the same without her on board.

i was getting pissed at having to wait so long for tali. Personally I think they should have done this much like the recruitment missions in ME2. Having the option of going after genophage/Korgans or Quarians/Geth whenever you want in whatever order you want.

She was the black sheep of the Normandy and had no interaction with the other members of the crew on screen and practically never left her room. I was disappointed that Ashley who's a very opinionated character pretty much had nothing to say. Even her banter while on missions felt lacking and the Zaeed-esque dialogue only made things worse such wasted potential.

I shot her on the Citadel. I don't count to 3 in Mexican space-off's.
