EDI's body is symbolic of the blurry line between AI and organics. Are synthetics actually more like organics than we thought, and vice versa. When you look at EDI you see evidence of an AI acting very human, and you examine yourself (and other organics) and realize that we can act in ways that resemble synthetic behavior (such as reacting to a sexy female body so predictably, as if we were programmed to instinctually) as well. And yea it might be a forced issue to those who have a heavy sci-fi background but I'm sure BW wanted to introduce the concept to the less familiar too.

So then Edi body is nothing different from the Geth, also strongly resemble their creators-quarians in appereance. So there is no point in giving her gender specialised body and force the issue of a good AI, because you already proved there are good synthetics - that are even part of a hostile race. That why I belive, her strong sexuality was very forced issue. As if we cant like if she is not sexi. (Give her big boobs, fans will like her more - aka Captain Obvious made his strike on Bioware developers)...

And are there actually some poeple who never heard about human/robot relationship or sexi robots? That stuff is everywhere.

We were forced to read Capek R.U.R when I was in middle school.

The body was originally coated with tank-grown skin to allow infiltration - I think EDI shows some effort to not take advantage of that body just by not recoating it. But the areas of the human brain that deal with sex and shapes will still see a sexy lady there. Our eyes make us respond to some pretty slim and well veiled cues when sexuality is concerned, after all.

Shouldn't the breast implants have burned off with the skin?
Bioware has been making inclusive games for years. They've opened gaming to the notion that not everyone who games is a straight male North American, and I'm sure that has been a big contributor to their success.
EDI's sexy body might be very comforting and reassuring to the people who want straight males to dominate our culture: it's a tired cliche to those of us who don't.

EDI's body can change from soft to hard? SERIOUSLY?

You should talk to EDI - you'll find that the "immovable" hair is mutable; she can make it rigid or make it act like regular hair. Her outer covering isn't metal, it's a soft substance that solidifies under sudden impacts to absorb and distribute force from projectiles. It's an infiltration unit, missing its pretty outer cover but basically designed to pass close scrutiny undetected with a little camouflage - chances are it's even set up for seduction.

If you're whining about the "objectification of women" here, you're probably missing the point on another level. This is about being able to spend companionable time together in a way that humans are accustomed to for Jeff - otherwise it's like a long distance relationship, something that people find very difficult. The body gives her a unique personal presence that the holographic display does not. So whether or not he could actually have sex with it is secondary to the fact that he can interact with EDI in a manner more suitable for people in general. Rather than the objectification of women, it's the personification of a machine - whose intellect is the important part of the relationship anyway.

I think, therefore I am. Are you?

Edi stopped existing for me the moment she got that body. I even stopped talking to her afterwards, she was anoying the hell out of me with her - Shepard I have a question. We already know that syntetics can be good - you gave us Legion and she was great as ship Ai. So dont force that issue by giving Edi sexi body... We alredy figured out that Edi cared about Normandy crew..

To think that Bioware would use one of the most overused cliches in scifi universe is beyond me. And I trusted them..And to even equip he with big boobs and heels. Why the hell she need heels for? Edi characterisation and appearance in ME3 is a fail in writingdesign department for me.

And to say they were insprired by Fritz Lang Maria..Poor Maria, if she knew...

I miss good old HK-47 times...

I'm sorry, but... you do realize that Maria from Fritz langs metropolis is supposed to be sexy, right? The movie was just made in the 1920's, so the hollywood ideal was different.

I'm frankly just glad they didn't make her a LI. I don't dislike the body, and it makes sense with how she aquires it, I just wish it was a bit more stylized - something like the security bots in ME2, but crossed with what she currently has.

[Edit: added hollywood to the ideal comment.]

I just want to say, Bioware left room for a LOT of alternate appearances, as she is maleable. So who's to say what other "forms" are down the pipeline?

SparkyRich: your contribution to the discussion "Why has Bioware chosen to personnify EDI with the biological features of a woman?" has been to twice explain the space magic that makes EDI's Sexy Robot body a completely acceptable substitute for a woman. This suggests the person missing the point is you.
In your next attempted putdown of someone on The Internet, find a quote from an existentialist philospher that isn't from a Christmas ******. It will be much more impressive.
