Lugaid of the Red Stripes.. That sounds like a lot of extra work and it would be far easier to scrap redundant lists and extend relavant ones. Would you mind having the HoF stripped from your mod if it meant a better look in for others ? I certainly wouldn't times change, there are mods in the list with awards that no longer exist so why not.

kevL.. I have no idea about the AME but they haven't finished voting on mods from 2009 yet so I wouldn't hold your breath for that idea to work.

The problem with the AME is the lack of members, specially in the NWN2 section, and that's why we're always asking for volunteers. Some of our members are also modders themselves, and that sometimes leads to them having to refrain from participating in a category due to a conflict of interest, resulting in less effective members at times.

I won't go in detail about the voting rules, but let's just say that we need more people to advance the nominations. Simple as that. It's pretty frustrating because I think that, with a few more members, we could probably have finished with the 2009, or even 2010 period months ago.

So, again, if you played some modules in the past years, give it some thought. As I've said many times, it doesn't require a heavy time investment or anything, nor you'll be in any case forced to play a specific module.

@Tsongo: 'The Last of the Danaan' wouldn't suffer if the HoF tag were stripped, but it's also benefited from recent rating inflation. There are a lot of HoF modules in the 8.00-9.00 range back from 2007/8, and I wouldn't want to see them demoted.

I just think that as broken as the system is now, replacing it with something completely different isn't an option. So lets just tweak things a bit to keep the top-rated list fresh, draw a little attention to the older mods, and develop more lists like LeeMer's so that new players can quickly find the kind of module they want to play.

Lugaid, 6 months to a year ago one of those 2007/2008 HoF modders made a blog post on nwn2 vote inflation. He charted all the mods scores and sorted things out by release date. He had expect a lot of inflation, but it turned out the average score had only risen something like 0.25. His conclusion (iirc) was scores had probably just gone up some due to more experience with the toolset and the ability to draw from earlier works as examples, not the inflation he'd expected.

Here is the blog. I seem to have misremembered some things, but the upward trend was 0.35.

16 Cygni is a campaign in 3 parts. Beware it is presented on both Int'l and English sections as it is bilingual French/ (my improved by ralebeau) English.  D/L counters on the English section are meaningless since the mod's files are only available on the In'tl section.

Then, as I understand my guidelines, all 6 parts get the HoF tag as soon as 1 part becomes eligible and it is in the top 3 for that category for that month.

If you move the whole campaign to HoF, please make it known as usual (Community has realsead cool stuff ...), as if I got it correctly, it would put it into semi retirement B).

Not sure I understand about the retirement bit. Do you mean it drops off some list?

Edit: Clarification, the HoF is just a tag. It does not alter the module at all except to tag it as Hall of Fame. It adds it to the HoF list, but doesn't *remove* it from any list, afaik. It's primary purpose is to recognise the contributions you all make.

HoF removes a module from the "top 15" list visible at to the right of the main page.

Ah. That explains all those cryptic references to retirement.

So a "15 most recent HoF" list?

And does that mean makers would rather *not* tag their content HoF? And do you guys (Claudius, Shaugn, etc.) who have earned HoF tags want/not want those tags in your sig on the vault?

Heh.

This whole thing does need an overhaul.
Wish IGN used drupal. I'm a whiz with drupal. Could fix it myself ;-/
I am so "meh" with php. especially someone else's custom script :-P
*sigh*

Anyway, pointed Maximus at this thread for ideas.

As for me, no problem, I gladly accept 16 Cygni to be fully HoF'd and to have a HoF tag in my sig. It's a kind of reward after all :wizard:.

If you decide with Maximus to undertake a Vaut overhaul, as it seems the idea of rotating list is appreciated, we could have, in addition to the top 15 (not HoF'd yet) modules :
- a rotating list of 5 recently submitted mods (let's say less than one year)
- a rotating list of 5 recently HoF'd modules (let's say less than one year)
- a rotating list of 5 old goodies (more then one year HoF'd modules).

IIRC, there was also a topic opened from to time about underrated modules. A way for players to promote non top modules they have appreciated. Perhaps it could be somehow reactivated.

Of course same processes can apply to other contributions.

Just as a reminder this topic contains also some suggestion about HoF conditions.

Need a methodology to indicate if something is hot - ie if it's getting a lot of attention relative to other things similar to how certain threads are getting that attention.

Thinking outside the box -- I'd also like to have different groups able to create their own lists of modules, ( those groups or persons would have to apply to the vault to do so ). Those who are members get to have a symbol of some sort, and if the content maker approves could display said logo. ( DMFI compatible for example, but could be ADL compatible as well, but could be just about anything - like if it includes a romance ).

The outside group would have to control who gets that logo, and a user could go to a specific page for that group. Imagine nicethugbert making a "Neat" logo instead of just posting NEAT, and making a page with 20 vault entries he thinks is neat. Basically have this be a way of making lists of 15 or more items, and each "group" could be rated and compared themselves to reward the person doing that work ( a top 10 list of groups would list the best groups ). End users who have similar tastes to the group or whoever is lead the group will find exactly what they want.

This would enable the static vault systems to crowd source the picking and choosing of modules in these separate lists. And if we get the leaders of the community who know the different modules able to manage their own lists using whatever criteria they choose, well that is always better than an automated system.

( And if i ran the DMFI group for example, i could influence those module makers who wish to be certified DMFI compatible into following best practices, and perhaps improve the quality of modules out there - i could imagine a Kaedrin compatible seal as well so those who like his classes know if a module works with his content up front. )

I like many of these ideas but pains is especially appealing.

The top 15 is good and should stay but below it a revolving hot list of mods would be cool. The basis for hot could be defined but lots of good ideas are already up.

I would also like to see a place where people could place a small advert much as you can on the home page. When there are several these could rotate daily. It would give modders another chance to showcase thier work and raise thier profile.
