Give me Harbinger or give me death! :P

Harbinger existed because CHUCK NORRIS allowed it, and Harbinger ended because CHUCK NORRIS demanded it.

Fixed it

If you can't tell that the Reaper at the end sequence is Harbinger, then you haven't read up on the differences between him and normal Sovereign-class Reaper's. Notice the eyes (like on the Collectors when they get controlled by him) and the 4 "legs" compared to the standard 5.

I feel that he is the "leader" of the Reapers in the fact that he is a central figure. But either way, I agree that he didn't get enough screen time and that given the fact that he had such a large role in ME2, to cut him out like this, and without ANY dialogue, it's such a disservice to us as fans. I personally really enjoyed his role in ME2 and was glad to see a deep story with a Reaper as the focus (as in ME1). But what they did in ME3 with him was bad.

Read the codex. He's the first Reaper.

You can't tell Reapers apart? "All them Reaper people look alike" to you?

Racist.

My assumption on what harbinger was at least. The first race of beings that developed all the tech of mass relays they created an AI that eventually decided you know what this is just chaos It then proceeds to create devices to manipulate its creators which then in turn decides to "ascend" them makes them turn themselves in to slurry filtered in to a giant cuttlefish creating harbinger.

if i remember correctly on AI's they start out all goody goody till they get into the whole paradox of order and chaos then in turn causes them to go insane.

this story line is commonly used in evil machines taking over the planet etc. it doesn't say it directly but it based on it.

I got the feeling that there was more to Harbinger than that in ME2. Such a missed/wasted opportunity for ME3.

He needs to be in the DLC coming out.

Yeah, he better be in some DLC. Heck, he was in ME2's Arrival for crying out loud, but is reduced to a cameo in the sequel? Something wrong with that equation.

I never saw him as one of the main characters, I was done with him after ME2.
In contrast to Sovereign he just was a normal monstrous Reapers for me who happened to execute the plan with the Collectors. Codex aside he was never designed to be a main antagonist for a whole series. The Illusive man being the last true encounter fits better I think.

Opinion. He still sounded ridiculous to me. Exactly like a Saturday morning cartoon villain.

Frankly, I'm glad he never opened his mouth. What I'm not so glad about is how little a role he plays in ME3 (given his personal vendetta against Shepard and his alleged leadership of the reapers). Instead we got the diabratus ex machina.

It is a shame that he got so little screen time in ME 3. People made fun of his lines not because he was disliked, but because he was awesome.

Uh? He releases control from the Collector general after no direct confrontation and then leads the Reapers to the Milky Way from dark space. How does that not establish him as the villain? If that wasn't enough, Harbinger then has a one-on-one conversation with you in Arrival as a final warning that council civilization is doomed. Illusive Man being the main antagonist made no sense because he doesn't represent the Reapers in any way. He's a B-villain at best. The Reapers had no face in Mass Effect 3, and that was due to the lack of Harbinger.

Yes, but Arrival is bad and how you pointed out, other than Arrival you had no encounter so no real connection.
I did not really like the Reapers to have a face anyway, that ist my main problem with the Catalyst. The cycle is the antagonist, not one specific Reaper.
I am quite happy with my ability to just discuss awy my problems with the game, probably that is the reason why I get so much enjoyment even out of the ending. For me fewer closure and explanations is strangly enough a good thing ...
Somehow I find the idea of not having a clear villain very good, when I think about it, I almost never really enjoyed a video game villain.

I thought Harbinger was a great villain in ME2, and enjoyed his taunts (even if they were recycled a lot). They served the purpose of reminding you that he had ASSUMED DIRECT CONTROL and was on the battlefield. And his role in The Arrival was very well done.

Yet another reason I'm a proponent of Indoctrination Theory - he'd be the Starchild in Shepard's mind.

"Assuming Direct Control" over every Huskified enemy in the area.

That could've been a  very epic ending, Harby going "Assuming Direct Control" and then a good 100 Husks, Marauders, Brutes, etc. get the glowing eyes and come for you. Shep having not just the 2 squad mates, but every squad mate from ME1, 2 and 3 standing beside him for such a final conflict.

*sigh* Dreams...
