The game was  amazing up until the last 5-20 minutes.  But it's not now.  Not for me.  I can't go back.  The same can be said for the series.

That said, welcome.  Glad you're here.  Sorry you had to go through that.  All is forgiven.

Before I reached the ending I thought the fans demanding it be changed were wrong. I thought if Bioware listened to them they would be sacraficing their artistic integrity, and an oppurtunity to move video games in the direction of true art.

Excellent.  Yet another recruit to hold the line.

This is why it doesn't bother me if ME3 continues to sell.  All it does it provide fresh meat for the grinder.

Yes.  Yes they would.  Unfortunately, it's so poorly conceived that it would get a C- on an 8th grade creative writing assignment.

I was wrong.

I disagree with those saying the ending ruined the entire game. Up until the last 5 minutes or so, I think Mass Effect 3 was one of the most superb games I have ever played. But the ending is terrible.

I thought I could bring about a new era with peace between the races, including the geth and quarians, and a galaxy free of the reapers. When I heard how unhappy people were I thought that that was possible but that it was a very bittersweet moment with lots of favourite charecters dieing.

But instead, all the choices I made were negated.

If the ending was good but pissed a lot of people off, Bioware would be wrong to change it.

Welcome to the fleet, recruit.  You're not the only one who had to see it for yourself to believe how bad they actually were.

This is gonna be happening for months, as more and more people buy the game and then get to the ending.

BioWare's gonna change it in some shape or form. That is without doubt.

But the rest of the game is so good, it actually makes me go back to play ME2 so I can start a new ME3 playthrough. It'll be months until ME3 is out of my system for good. Then... I don't know... maybe back to Skyrim for a while.

It's almost amusing now how there's a post like this everyday. Yet almost everyone knows it's true and almost everyone has experienced it (that played me3 off course..and imho). I never posted on forums before (anywhere)..but felt obligated to voice my displeasure at the endings.

OP, I was in your shoes before I finished the game, too. I thought, "oh great, a bunch of whiny fans complaining because the end didn't happen exactly the way they wanted it to." Well needless to say, I discovered I was wrong and changed my tune too...

This was me, too, before I had finished.  I just assumed it was typical BSN stupidity and whining like with DA2.  Much to my chagrin, however, the ending was...definitely not just "not what I expected/wanted".

You'll find plenty of folks that had the same reaction, OP.  The few things that Bioware has said about this seem to indicate that they thought it would blow over as time went by and more people played it, but that hasn't been the case.  It's not as if the people who finished it within days of release were going to have a different reaction than those that took longer.

The worst part may be that Bioware should have known better. They clearly are CAPABLE of telling great stories. Just look at the first 99.9% of Mass Effect 3.

As for those who say the ending is bittersweet, I disagree. Lord of the Rings had a bitter sweet ending (Frodo saves the world but cannot stay to enjoy it). Mass Effect 3 had a bad ending.

No hard feelings. I can see why you thought the way you did before beating the game. I certainly would not have believed all of this uproar was legitimate before I beat the game.

It's true that not many could believe that 100+ hrs could be negated in 5 mins. I've started referring to similar situations as being 'mass effected'.
