I'm a big fan (and owner) of Bioware's RPG games, such as the Baldur's Gate, NWN, and DA series. A while back, a friend told me that Mass Effect was more like a FPS than an RPG, so I didn't pick it up, but lately I've heard some stuff (what with the general outpouring of rage) that seem to indicate that it's actually more of an RPG. Is it worth buying the series?
Should I buy Mass Effect?

ME1 is a good RPG, the last 2 not so much. 2 and 3 is more shooter/adventure game.

I've only played Mass Effect 2 (completed) and 3 (in progress) but really enjoy them both - was wondering the same thing, whether I ought to pick up the first one... I'm not going to replay 2 and 3 (I don't replay games... just try to get the most out of it with one character then move on) - how much different is it to 2 and 3, and is it still worth picking up (I love the setting after all, so I'm guessing yes!)

ME2 is my personal favorite because the renegade interrupts are so much more epic than in ME3.. But ME has way more RPG elements than the other 2 games.
And yeah, it's pretty cheap, you can get ME and ME2 bundle for $12 on Amazon: www.amazon.com/Mass-Effect-Dual-Pack-Download
