 I cannt seem to be kai leng and I think the main reason is that Garrus is not present during the fight at all. I brought him and EDI and EDI is the only one there other than me and I just get my ass beat every time by the phantoms. Do you guys have any suggestions or is this some type of glitch that cant be fixed?

Might help if I knew what class you were using. Helps if you use squadmates with good crowd control abilities like grenades. Also the overload ability can lower Lengs shields quickly. Just keep your distance and heal yourself often with medi-gel. It's a hard fight but you should pull through on casual at least.

I am a solider and I used EDI and Garrus for this mission because they both have overload. My only question is that Garrus is never in the room with me when I fight and I think that is what is hurting me because I am already down a man when I start. I think I may restart the whole mission to see if it is a glitch in the game. what do you think?

I think you're still asking in the wrong place. Seriously, mate, just do what Caradoc suggested and register your game so you can ask in the ME3 forums where there'll be loads of people who'll be able to help.
