ME2 - 16 playthroughs
ME1 - 7 playthroughs
ME3 - on my 3rd... but I can't stand much more of it.
Now that you've played all 3, which is your favorite ME?

I've clocked the most time on ME2. Not sure about actual playthroughs, though.JediHealerCosmin wrote...

ME3 all the way. The setpieces, action, gameplay, and added RPG elements make it a joy. The story, voice acting, overall intense feeling for the entire game, and certain refined nuances such as art and level design put it way above ME2 and slightly in front of ME 1. The team did an amazing job on the entire 30+ hour experience. Everything felt so well put together. Whereas, ME2 almost everything was half-assed and mediocre, especially the story, dialogue, and characters.

If it was not for the ending, ME3 would. But alas it's still Mass Effect.

This - out of all the ME games, ME3 was the one that was most emotionally affecting as far as I was concerned.

ME1.
It was new and had great potential.
I dislike the way the series evolved.

ME1, not even close. Best story, most immersive, most sense of wonder. Most chilling (the conversation with Sovereign is the best conversation in the entire trilogy, imo.)
ME3 does have the best combat. It's the best 'game', but the ending and the autodialogue throughout wrecks the story, even though there are good moments, at least for me. A little less auto-dialogue, and a good ending at it could have been the best.

ME1 (9.75) >> ME3 (9) >> ME2 (8.5)
ME1
The original was a refreshing concept, in that it added elements of a shooter to an RPG. There was character depth and development, especially for Garrus and Ashley. There were some difficult choices throughout, and the story and universe was well established.
ME3
The complexity and weight of decisions returned, which had practically disappeared from ME2. Combat was even more Shooter-centric than ME2 (cover still doesn't work right); a downside in my opinion. But problems with logic failures from the time you decide to have a talk with TIM, as well as a lack of interactive dialogue/cutscenes for certain crew members drag down what is an otherwise solid experience.
ME2
The change from ME1's style to this still rubs me the wrong way. The much more linear story progression did not endear me, either. In ME1, I could wait until after Virimire to get Liara (and the dialogue was filarious). In ME2, I could eventually get Tali. And Legion was only with me all of five mintues before hitting the Omega 4 Relay. And that's without getting into planet scanning and having to buy fuel and probes.

ME1. It's why I love the series.
ME3. Fantastic game, but nearly undone by a very poor final 10 minutes.
ME2. Satisfying and enjoyable to play, but it has too little substance. It's Mass Effect stripped to the bone.

All the amazing qualities of the series makes it hard to pick a fave. ME1 introduced a fantastic world that seemed plausible and scientifically based with a great layout of the world and overall story which got me completely hooked.
ME2 took all that was awesome in the first and expanded upon it, upgrading the combat system, going further in depth with several new characters making them deep and "real" with the final suicide mission being as tense as can possibly be because you knew if you hadn't done a previous mission or didn't make a smart choice during the mission then your squadmates who you've grown attached to would die and it would be on your shoulders. Intense.
Then putting in tons of hours and playthroughs to get the "perfect save" and the various other saves just to see how they would effect and play out in ME3
ME3 is extremely well polished. The backgrounds and worlds look so realistic it's as if you were actually on the planets fighting those battles. Absolutely gorgeous scenery that you couldn't help but stop and just admire the work and detail put into it. The overall feel of "this is it!" was always there that always made you want to play that "just one more hour" because you knew the galaxy's fate was in your hands. Being able to travel to home worlds was phenomenal, as everyone i'm sure was always curious to visit these planets. The list goes on and on of great things about ME3 which can be summed up by saying I was in Mass Effect nerd heaven.
Now with all that said and brought to the forefront, I must admit I am not of fan of the ending, but i'll leave it at that as there are already numerous threads about it.
Overall I love the series as a whole and find it to be THE most interesting gaming universes to date and most compelling story out there.
I apologize for my rambling it's just when asked about the positives about Mass Effect its simply hard to stop.

ME3.
When people say it did combat right, and that's about it..I seriously want to ask really? I know it has issues. Linearity, it turning to gears of war effect, losing it's rpgness, it's ****ed up journal, etc. I mean it has issues, so I'm not some blind mass effect faithful-ist who ignores every problem for my own enjoyment.
That said was no one else touched by the journey? Was no one else touched by Mordins heroic death scene on Tuchunka? Was no one else in awe when that giant thrashermaw fought with that giant reaper? Did no one stand and applaud when grunt epicley fought off those rachni, thinking that he died as he tackled the rachni off the cliff, only to stand tall as a victor exiting out of the cave? Did no one else get goose bumps as they saw Thane fight Kai Leng? Did anyone even shed a tear when Thane gave his final prayer to you? Were you not numb when Legion asked "if this unit has a soul commander shepard?", or when he FINALLY referred himself a "I" in his final parting words.
Did anyone else go, "WHAT THE HELL DID I JUST DO!?!!?!" as the whole Quarian fleet was racing down the planet of Ranoch, Tali, her voice quivering, only to jump off because of the pain she could not bear to witness.
Did anyone else not jump for glee as they saw the various fleets arrive and checking in? Did anyone else blood not pump when the epic space fight occured with the reapers?
Or how about when Anderson said he was "proud of you" as the beautiful earth stood below you. Can you seriously tell me you felt not even a SINGLE OUNCE of emotion?
I could go on and on. This TO ME is why ME3 stood out. Because even with all it's flaws, I can still look back and reminisce on how many incredible moments I experienced. An for me at least, that FAR OUTWEIGHS any negative con I have with the game.
