ME3 for 95% of the game. some of the side quests were pointless (they did have a story and motivation but meh boring fetch quests the majority of them). And the ending - don't get me started about the ending >.>.

I liked the ME2 suicide mission though. Best mission imo.

Mass Effect 2. I know some don't like the fact that it seemed disjointed, going on a lot of apparently unrelated sidequests, but the ending... I love that so many of my decisions and actions have dramatic affects on how the Suicide Mission goes. I was hoping the climax of ME3 would be able to just take this to a whole new level.

ME1 had the best narrative, ME2 made the best use of the advantages of the gaming medium... ME3 had the best combat and a lot of great storylines, but the loss of a LOT of dialogue options left a bad taste in my mouth going into the climax... the ending destroyed the entire experience.

(for the record, my ME1 and ME2 games are on a different Bioware account because I lost my password and wasn't able to get recovered. I did not pirate them:P)

Up to the ending, Mass Effect 3 was by far my favorite.

Next comes Mass Effect 2, because I actually found the episodic plot to be a refreshing change from the BioWare Formula.

I hated pretty much all of the gameplay in Mass Effect 1, but I did very much like the sound and music, and the conversations with Sovereign and Vigil are some of the best parts of the entire series.

ME1 had the better story, buildup, pacing, ending and general experience.

ME3 a close 2nd due to the story and combat. Shame about the ending.

I would love it if ME1 was remade with ME3 graphics, combat system, Inventory system (weapons/armor) and improved the explore system so i dont need to drive all over planets to find stuff.

I truly can't choose, but if I had to it would be ME3.

Despite the ending, this game blew me away.  The intense action, the seemingly hopelessness of the situation, listening to characters watching the planet and people getting destroyed, the emotion, the immense pressure on Shepard and how it took a toll on him.  The story(again up until the ending), amazing...

Wish I could have explored more of the worlds we landed on (Thessia, Pelavin, Rannoch,etc.).  Can't wait for more DLC.

There are only a couple of games I have literally got up and applauded.  God of War and the ME series...

ME1 first, then ME3, then ME2. I liked all three, but ME1 was the game that made me buy my first gaming console ever, and I played through the game countless times. ME2 was a great game with great characters, but the story was crap. ME3 is a great game with great characters and the first 9/10ths of a great story.

I love all three games. But my most favorite will always be ME1. The second one is ME3 (I like everything but auto conversation) and then ME2.

Probably ME3.

- ME1 had a great storyline but I can't replay it due to how much i hated the combat.
- ME2 had an ok storyline but overall was a drastic improvement from ME1.
- ME3 had an amazing storyline(ending aside) and I don't know how they managed to improve the combat from ME2 which was already very good but also, another drastic improvement in quality.

me2. the suicide mission was great. Next was me1 because of the story what the combat was terrible. I probably wouldnt of played it a second time if it wasnt for the story and rpg element of it. Those 2 are close on my scale for obviously different reasons. me 3 close behind and would be number 1 if it wasnt for the ending.

ME3 is my favorite, and the other two are tied. Basically, between 1 and 2 the strengths and weaknesses kinda balance out - 1 had the far better story, but 2 has better combat, better sidequests and performs better (texture pop-in and framerate in 1 are borderline ridiculous at times). 3 basically takes everything that was good about each of the two, and in most cases manages to actually improve on a lot of it.

Of course I'm ignoring the ending here, but I'm not willing to write the whole game off based on the last 10 minutes.

ME1: I don't care about the shooter part, and ME1 is by far the more RPGish and have the best story overall.

honestly too early to tell for me.
All three have things, that they do better than the other two.
I don't really know how to rate ME3, there is so much I love and so much I hate. I need to give it some time...

ME1 had the best story, but the combat and Mako made me want to kill myself.
ME2 had great story, combat, and first introduced Paragon and Renegade interrupts-which are awesome B) I also loved loyalty missions, that get boring only after you played the game for like 20 times, like I did. Also, the Suicide mission still gets me goosebumps..amazing adrenaline rush!
And there is ME3, which is great, and though I can't really say what, it is missing certain something (no, I am not talking about endings, we all know they s**k). I can't quite put my finger on it :? Does anyone else feel this way?

I think the writing has been excellent for all three games (sans the end of 3 of course). It would be hard for me to choose one over another in this regard.

We see the most improvement over the course of the series in gameplay mechanics and UI design. There was a revolution between 1 and 2, the quality of both took a huge leap forward. They are further refined in 3 into what I think is the best of the series.

So with the writing being consistently excellent and 3 having the best mechanics and UI I'll have to go with 3.

ME1 hands down. It had a compelling story, which both ME2 and ME3 lacked. And the best music of the three.
