If we could play as skins of characters we've grown to love in the Mass Effect universe. It might not make total sense story wise but I don't think matters. I'm really disapointed I can't play as Miranda or Kaiden or something. It would just be a cosmetic skin. The generic characters we get now are boring.

I do not agree with OP, but I think adding a more personal touch than armor/light colors would alleviate some of the "generic" boredom.

Nah, I like the Idea of playing as other heroes of the war. Also yes I'd love more customization for instance I hate the death mask helmet for the human vanguard/soldier.
