If you kick her off the ship, she dies...

"Tragic news out of the Horsehead Nebula: The Alliance dreadnought SSV Shasta has been destroyed, killing everyone on board. Among the dead, one of our own--ANN reporter Diana Allers, contributor to "Battlespace." We thank the deceased for their sacrifice, and mourn our friend and colleague. Diana left a substantial donation to the University of Milgrom's Rossberg School of Journalism, which ANN will be matching. The veteran reporter may be gone, but her work lives on. For the Alliance News Network, I'm Azad Carter."

So I guess you can kick her off if you really don't like Allers or really love university funding...

So kicking her off the ship blows up a dreadnought? Wow, how hard did you kick her?

Also, why was this thread raised from the depths?

Yeah, I don't even let her on the ship in the first place. My shep hates reporters.

Really?

What good is the University of Milgrom's Rossberg School of Journalism gonna be if the entire human species is exterminated?  Geez, even in death she sucks.

Also, I hate to point this out, but - Milgrom is the capital of Bekenstein. Which gets bombed out of existance by the Reapers close to the end of the game.

That said, I really don't think that Allers sucks. My only problem is that I would have preferred to see Emily Wong, a character i was familiar with, in that role instead of introducing a new one. Once I get past that, Allers as a character is nothing but helpful.

The better question would be;

Is there any reason NOT to get rid of her?

It is a shame you don't hear or read anything about the Shasta if Allers isn't kicked off the ship.

I assume the dreadnought is a battlefield loss either way, its just that you don't hear about it unless Allers dies with it.

Maybe EDI catches news stories that Shepard might be interested in and e-mails them to him. EDI might know if you turn down Allers' reques to come on board, and she certainly knows if you kick her off the ship.

I can see why some would like having her around. She just isn't my cup of tea really. I really saw no appeal to the character or her concept. Something about having a reporter on a stealth ship during a time of war really put me off. I did allow her on the ship once though, it bugged me so I reloaded a save and said no. It just didn't feel like something Shepard would allow

Personally I never let her on in the first place and I have never had a problem getting sufficient war assets.

I have no idea what she does for IGN. I had never heard of her before ME3, but she doesn't fit. Her appearance is jarringly inconsistent with style of the other character models in the game and her voice acting sounds like a high school student reading lines off a page.

I'm sure someone already said this, but if you have a love interest and sleep with Allers, a cat fight occurs and you HAVE to kick Allers off to keep the other relationship.

She does make a pass at you at one point. I'm not sure how it would affect yor LI if you take her up on the offer, because I told her to keep things professional

It doesn't at all.  She says she wants to keep it a secret (so she doesn't lose credibility as a journalist) and you are free to romance anyone else after.

I don't want Chobot on my freaking Normandy. THE END.

If there was one thing I liked about Mass Effect as a whole, it is the voice acting....But these 3 really irk me a lot with their VO :-

-Old man at the end
-Starbrat who also voices the brat in the end
-Diana Allers...

Getting rid of Allers is a good choice, but not letting her onto the ship in the first place is even better.

She gets a bad rap, and rightfully so... but it's not like shes in your face all the time. Her interviews have some good Paragon and Renegade interrupts.

She kinda looks like a chipmunk that did too much meth. Then again I LOVE meth. So if they add an option for her to be your dealer then I see no reason to get rid of her.

She deserves to be fed into the trash compactor for taking up residence in Zaeed's room.

Is that a real message ingame or did you just make it up on a spot?

Anyways, I only talked to Allers three times during the game and they are rather quick convos compared to many others, so I never really liked or disliked her. The idea of having your own propaganda reporter in ship is actually pretty neat, thought.

I'm tempted to make a "Is there a reason to pick up Diana Allers?" version. Change a few words in the OP and... *bang*, that's how I feel.
