The Batarians where written to be the counter-race to humanity. Geth to our Quarian, Salarian to our Krogan. The Batarian Hegemony is the North Korea of the Galaxy and human advancement caused them to leave The Citadel. To become a rogue state and wage a proxy war of bandits, slavers and pirates against human settlements in Batarian areas of interest. Of course they don't like you and your human crew.

The real crime with the batarians is that the lazy writing in ME3 robbed us of a resolution with them.  Especially considering the fact that TWO of Shepard's backgrounds revolve exclusivly around the details of the proxy-war with the Batarians. They -made- Shepard!

^Pretty much how I feel about the Batarians. They were never given a chance, despite playing a huge role in Shepard's backstory.
On topic, each race has their pros and cons so I dont really hate any. But I'm extremely pissed at humans for creating the starchild concept.

Not that I hate them, but the Geth really irked me by ME3. I sympathize, but really siding with the reapers and then being total hypocrites on the "build your own future" thing are not ways to get on my good side. It all just kinda ruined what they were made to look like in ME2, although ME2 ruined what they appeared to be in ME1, so maybe the geth just wanted par for the character shift course.

Didn't like Batarians much either until ME3 when we see them in a more sympathetic light, still wanted to kill Balek though.

Yahgs vs Krogan?
Biology:
1. Yahgs have superior brute force, they are more agile, fast and perceptive - krogans have back-ups for all organs, immune to toxins, they are extremely durable. It's a fight between deadly yahg and living tank krogan. So in the 1 on 1 fight without guns, I would give advantage to krogans. Yahgs are stronger, but not enough to pierce krogans armor or to beat them badly. Krogans will just outstand yahgs as they are clearly have superior endurance.
2. Lifespan of krogans is on par with asari - Shadow Broker lived for at least 100 years, but according to information we have on them, they are unlikely to live long. Predators tend to die faster. So, krogans outlive yahgs. Krogans have incredibly high birth rate - I think yahgs are nowhere near that. Their position of evolution tends to be like a human. Krogans have superior numbers and almost infinite supply of new recruits. Longer lifespan means that average krogan warrior will have more experience.
Psychology and Intelligence:
3. While both species are similar to each other in psychology, basic difference between them is this: yahgs are much more violent and cruel, but they mask their anger and hate until they have opportunity to strike. Krogans are more hot-headed and emotional. So for humans it would be nation of sociopaths (yahgs) and psychopaths (krogans).
4. Their basic scientific intelligence is on the same level with humans of 20th century. Yahgs are nowhere near as theoretically (physics, biology, chemistry, literature, martial arts) smart as salarians, humans or asari, but they are smart in their own way. They are extremely adaptive, they can learn at incredible speed. They are not creators, they can’t discover anything new on their own or improve technology they are currently using. Their intelligence is predator intelligence, not scientific or social. They can master what will be given to them, but they won’t achieve anything complex by their own. Shadow Broker was extremely talented, so average yahg would be less of a threat than him, but potential is there.
Krogans are brutal hot-headed living tanks with fast breeding. Yahgs are vicious and calculating perfect predators with ability to master alien technologies. Krogans are potentially more of a direct threat to Galaxy, but they can be reasoned with. Yahgs are likely to become a less obvious threat. Imagine banks, ministries, media each controlled by uplifted, trained yahgs…

 To be totally honest, I liked them all. They were all really distinct and they all had a place in the story for me. The Batarians are easy to hate, but I think they're a cool and interesting race.

Drell and Batarians...
Batarians make me think of the comedic alien villains in Peter Jackson's Bad Taste.. Drell remind me of Greedo in Star Wars. Also the Turian physique is fugly. So fragile looking, I don't even bring Garrus on missions afraid his legs will break.

I hate the batarians, but sometimes "hate" isn't a bad thing. Adds little extra something to the story =P

Also, although I don't "hate" them, I have to mention the asari. Everything about them is just...wrong. They creep me out.
