To me, the cupcake donation was like Bioware fans giving Bioware a love letter saying "even though we hate some of the stuff you did, we still love you anyway." So them giving the gift to kids instead accepting it, feels much like a rejection. =/

Bioware did a good thing giving the cupcakes to a good cause and at the same time they got the message that was sent its good to know that Bioware are listening to fan feed back about the endings

First there were death threats, Then there were constructive post. Now Celebratory cupcakes with Snarky notes about the ending. And all three aren't taken seriously? Meh, Kids get cupcakes, we get to laugh and debate over the final 1% of the game. Bioware set the standards of their games and when not lived up to we "rage" and they donate cupcakes to a Youth Center.

I seriously wouldn't even BE SUPRISED if they didn't even bother to read a single one of them...or stop reading them after the first few.

It's a kind gesture giving them to charity, but also a huge middle finger to the community imho.

To me it felt like the cupcakes were given, as a gesture of good will, and faith on behalf of the community. Giving them away seems like a weird way of saying, "We listen, but we have decided to dismiss your feedback and goodwill."

I did not donate, btw.

I love that BW did exactly what the Retake ME fans did... yet the fans got nothing but insulted for their troubles, from both the online 'press' and the charity itself. Gotta love it.

And the cherry on top is that BW didn't even really donate the cupcakes themselves... just piggybacked on the fans and watch the chimps at IGN eat it up.

If they kept them and ate them then it would be perceived as buying your way into making changes (a bribe even if was not your intention), it is not morally the right way to do things. Giving to a charity and specifically mentioning came from you guys is the morally right thing to do and the only way it was ever going to go down.

You guys need to take a step back and see the forest not just the tree right in front of you.

ok enough is enough

we sent bioware cakes who are now donating them to a YOUTH SHELTER FOR KIDS

i WILL BE HAPPY as long as BIOWARE AKNOWLAGE IT WAS US THAT SENT THEM

BUT i bet bioware kept a couple of boxes for themself..........who cant ignore cakes

but i am now seeing people who are supporting retake mass effect are starting to **** about the cakes going to charity.

you know how bad that looks, you know how bad that makes US look.
i think bioware got the hint and there giving the cakes WE PAID FOR to charity, they CANNOT IGNORE THE FACT THEY AKNOWLAGE US AS A WHOLE.

yes they got em yes they know how we feel and now they are actually listening.

so who knows we might get more stuff and best yet we might all get free stuff for the game in return.

by the way next time.....send them hookers :D

It's good that kids get the cupcakes, but the idea that they refused them because they weren't sent in the "context of celebrating the work or accomplishment of the Mass Effect 3 team" sort of rubs me the wrong way. I thought sending the cupcakes was a nice gesture, and shows that the fans DO appreciate the Bioware staff, even if we think the ending was, well, lackluster. Not accepting the cupcakes feels like a disconnect from the fans to me. :/

Hey Bioware, you know what I find funny?

You're being offered three colours to choose from, and using your own critical thinking you've made your own decision and said "We choose option #4".

Giving Shepard that same choice would go a long way to showing you understand where this went wrong.

Can we see it as a subtle imply WE will be given the forth choice as well? :P

Anyway, thx all of you, guys, who donated to make this excellent idea come to life. And thx Bioware for acknowledging our efforts :)

Ah forget it (2).  Deleted, because I don't care enough anymore.  Your endings were wonderful, Bioware, really.  We should all celebrate them.  You win.  You're artistes.

Hm, okay. I guess I'm okay with how things ewnt, shouldn't too surprised about it. It's good that those kids get some cupcakes instead, even though I would've liked if the Bioware staff themselves are them. They deserve all those tasty cupcakes, as a compliment for all their amazing work with almost the entire game. If we only wanted to express our displeasure with the ending we wouldn't have made the effort of donating money, giving them cupcakes and figuring out a sweet and creative way to say what we want to say. I don't really like that they didn't accept that compliment of ours...

Oh well. Perhaps they ate some of them, who knows! I for one think that we should make them an enormous Marauder Shields cake, or something, if the ending gets fixed. No more treats until it's fixed though! We don't want to spoil them just yet. :D

Just another +50 Paragon so they can keep everyone happy? Sounds like the Miranda and Jack argument came to life to me!

I'm confused. Is IGN taking the cupcakes to the local youth homeless shelter?

 I want this documented.

Because I'm highly considering of filing a lawsuit right about now. I want photos and videos of the cupcakes being HAND DELIVED to a local youth shelter, and not simply thrown away.

PPS: We kept the letters."
That would make me feel even better)

thank you for helping me figuring out what i didn't like about the whole move.
...now I am going to headcanon this was what Chris said. What? I am getting used to headcanoning here.

Glad to help. I managed to headcanon the whole last ME3 Earth mission, my last birthday (i was drunk and forgot everything), Iraq war and moon landing.
I follow Casey and Walter's testament of "lots of speculation from everyone" and learn a bit about space magic.

And now we'll have wait an see.

lol, why stop there? I can come up with a few world history moments that need headcanon revision...

though calming down now. I have accepted that Chris is apparently unable (maybe contractually prohibited) from writing PR-free responses and I am just really glad for the children

Well I'm a firm believer in catching more flies with honey than with vinegar. Yes, sometimes some negative pressure is necessary. At the same time though, a bit of tasty tongue-in-cheek might also work.

Split among a bunch of people, 120 cupcakes or so doesn't cost much, but it can go a long way.

Just a note for people in the "with honey than with vinegar" camp.

Study flies.  They are attracted to rotting meat/flesh/carcases.  They are not drawn to honey (that would be ants).  If you want to attract flies, put out some garbage, feces, meat and let it go.  Flies galore.

Are we really 100% certain they didn't already, but nobody figured out how to pick it yet? :P

(remembering the neat Myst5 ending (ok, it was kind of obvious and I picked it right away, but still; it wasn't outright offered and that's the point))

QFT.

I didnt donate, but I found the idea hilarious, until Chris' response. Yeah, poor children etc., but still, I'd be horribly disappointed now if I had donated. When I buy my GF a dress it'd be for her and if she donated it to some homeless shelter... yeah, slap in the face.

But I agree with above, if it hadn't been this kind of PR talk but a humorous, personal message... or just "Too much to eat, we have to donate most of it, but tried one... tastes bitter", that could've fixed the disappointment problem quickly. Now... I just have that EA feeling again.

I got to agree to this.
