after a lot of discussion, we decided ultimately the reason that they were sent was not done in the context of celebrating the work or accomplishment of the Mass Effect 3 team. This is a subtle, but important aspect in determining how to pass the feedback to the team.

Chris, i hope you are still reading because that is not entirely true. Did you consider the fact that if the mass effect's, including 3, where not of such high standard and outshining the competition, if the games did not suck us into that magical world so much, we would have never donated, cared this much or would still be here? :) so basically the donation is in the context of celebrating, and thanking for the accomplishment of your work.

Sure...while calling on them to give it an ending that the otherwise FANTASTIC game deserves.  It is that the ending is so roughshod and slapdash that angers me most.  The game, the story, the characters, the way I (and family members who also play) got sucked in is a tribute...but the ending does NOT do the game, or us, justice.

Still, the cupcakes are fine with the kids.

Hey Bioware, you know what I find funny?

You're being offered three colours to choose from, and using your own critical thinking you've made your own decision and said "We choose option #4".

Giving Shepard that same choice would go a long way to showing you understand where this went wrong.

This is glorious and so so true.

So again. Will there be proper proof of these cupcakes being delivered to those promised local youth shelters...an not just biowares word...biowares word is worth nothing now.

I'm actually starting to get pissed now. Not that these kids got free cupcakes, but the fact that Bioware could've EASILY told us what they were planning on day 1 of this campaign. Instead they gave us various replies of "YUMMMMM cupcakes."

Bioware you are a disgrace. You trolled us for no reason. This is a ****ty way to treat your fans..just saying.

You would not have been happy with any response anyway.

I wouldnt be as upset if they told us on DAY 1 of the campaign what they were planning to do.

This is PR talk. They had this written up yesterday, just for todays occasion. They knew they wouldn't accept the cupcakes, but they played coy all along. That's what makes me rage.

Seems a bit of an emotional reaction than calming down and thinking this
out.  I doubt Thomas or any other Bioware employee would come to this
thread, reply multiple times about how they would love a cupcake just to
troll us?  Seems a bit far fetched.  I believe
Chris when he said they "discussed" this, I'm sure PR told them what
was the best course of action.  And a lawsuit? It's a gift, they are
fully within their right to do whatever they want with the cupcakes as
they were given to them.

As far as I'm concerned, we raised $1,005 to send cupcakes to a youth center. BioWare redirected our troll to a good cause. And really, they WERE trollcakes, so I understand what Chris said about not being able to accept them. If I were a BW employee, I wouldn't really have been able to enjoy them.
I really don't think they intended to shaft us by not accepting them.

We collaborated with BioWare to make a lot of kids happy today. Everybody wins.

This is what he meant by the spirit of the gesture.

The cupcakes were not just sent because people love BioWare they had a subtle message of disapproval.

In the end, everyone wins.  Get over it.

Agreed for realz with both of these statements.

I'm really disappointed in the way that some folks are behaving, but then again I'm not surprised. >.>

If they really wanted to troll us, they'd show the cupcakes going down a dumpster. Or perhaps the toilet remnants of them. Deciding not to eat them and sending them to a local shelter is pretty good. Regardless, I think the message got across; someone there must've eaten at least some of them.

I STILL think we need a necklace charm and a car dashboard statue of Marauder Shields, like a St Christopher.  I'd buy a MS necklace AND dashboard statuete.  I WANT Marauder Shields' protection from horrible endings.

Oh joy the "Moral highground" crowd has moved in too now.
Such a thread of joy.
Shouldn't you be off playing the game you love or adopting orphans, over being on a message board of "just a game"?

@Isaac: You of all people attitude truly surpises me. Did you just stop when then announce S/s romances 6 months prior to release and praise every statement they made (or didn't) during that time?

I'd like to thank everyone in this thread who's posting their snarky or negative reactions to giving a bunch of shelter kids some cupcakes as a treat.

You're handing IGN and other haters a bucketload of ammunition on a silver platter. Can't wait to read some of these awful comments in a press article.

Way to help spread the Retake message. Thank you. /sarcasm

Did they really just go, "We only accept positive feedback"?

I'll be sure to try that when I get my essays back.

I actually am perfect in place to say that the idea of the cupcakes came to life, before the colouridea, to thank bioware, to motivate them and to show them we still are here and here for them.

Maybe if you guys had sent a "we want to be able to defeat the Reapers" cake, or a "List of questions we want the ending to answer" series of cakes, the message might have been stronger.

But instead, you sent a "we're forcing you to eat these cupcakes in the same way you forced us to choose the catalyst's choices" message, which doesn't make much sense. You're lucky that they accepted the delivery at all, usually a delivery like that would be considered a prank and sent back.

*************** UPDATE *************

Ok guys, we all did good. Bioware got our message, and the kids got some food. If anyone is curious, I was interviewed by two separate news sources. One from Edmonton, one from Toronto. I will post links when the interviews are up. WIth respect to the charity portion of this campaign, this was my official statement:

"I'm glad that these Cupcakes were received, and also very happy that
they got donated to kids who need them. It doesn't matter who eats them.
RetakeME3 sent its delicious message, and did some good at the same
time."

We held the line, and Bioware knows how we feel. Again, we did good. Bioware has our letters, and hungry kids get cupcakes.

We held the line. Now we wait till April, and see where we go from there.

Thanks again,

Sam (aka LoganKey, aka Beretzik)

Wow, so what, if the cupcakes said "We <3 Bioware" you would have kept them?

What a bunch of nonsense, shows Bioware refuses to accept criticism in any way, shape or form.

Good for the Youth Center tho.

Marauder Shields Cake is the Crucible of this campaign. I supposed that makes Bioware Shepard and the Fuss Bakery the Catalyst.

I think that's a great idea. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/smile.png[/smilie]

Poor kids can always use something sweet to cheer them up.

Guys, I don't think that the idea has been played. In fact, if the kids get something out of it, everyone wins.
Let's be creative again: Let's show how much we care.

And dear Mr. Priestly:

If the people wouldn't appreciate the game(actually the whole franchise) and the work done on it, they wouldn't take this much effort in showing you how much they care about the game the team created.
I think, that is a reason to celebrate.
Because:
Even if you face a flame-storm from people who can't remain civil, even if many people showed their disappointment with the ending:
Your fans and costumers, still put this much effort in showing you how much they care for Mass Effect.
How much trust they have in you.
Is this not worth some celebrating? Having people touched so deep with your work, that they don't abandon it like it's just a game?

I appreciate it, that you took the notes from the boxes. You mentioned, BioWare takes such input serious, so I'm sure they will be read and given proper attention.

I think this is the best response.
