I think having the bus advertisement is a great idea, it's right across the street from Bioware fan feedback and motivation for the staff.  It be a group effort what to put on it, and I'm pretty sure if we can raise $1,000+ for cupcakes we can raise enough for a bus stop ad. :wizard:

People are spinning this incorrectly to say we are not listening to "negative feedback" and how bad we are and etcetera.

Wrong.

We did listen. At no time did we try to stop Fuss for making the cupcakes or delivering them (this would be unfair to Fuss and to the fans who sent the cupcakes and a generally dickish thing to do). When the cupcakes reached us, we did not refuse to take them (again, unfair to the people who sent them). I, along with Fernando, Mark and Alistair went down, met with Shadow Wrought, gave him some swag for being brave enough to show up and keep us honest and took them upstairs. We took all of the included messages out of the bags and boxes so we would not lose them (again, cuz we're listening). We did not throw them away, ignore them till they got stale or not use them as what they are, food. We chose not to eat them and gave them to a needy charity.

The message REACHED us. Whether we ate the cupcakes, threw them in teh garbage or donated them to charity is secondary to us getting the message, right? If we had (somehow) frozen time, put them in a display case for all time as a reminder of the message sent by fans, this would have been the same thing.

Us actually eating the cupcakes or not should not have been the issue. The issue was fans creatively sent us a message expressing their love for Mass Effect as a franchise, but dislike over the endings. This message was delivered to us and we got it loud and clear.

I have to say... that's actually some evil genius right there.

Or ad space around where PAX is being held.

Sadly, I think the cost would be too high. But it would be awesome to see what the community came up with for the ad.

lol it totally is...but then we just finished sending them 400 cupcakes...

Taking out ad space is, in my opinion, a step in the wrong direction. I'm all for creativity, but people need to calm down on this thread. Good god, BioWare isn't evil and they ARE listening. The situation the cupcakes presented them with was unorthodox (in respect to a video game prostest, if it can be called that). People need to calm down and think before they post.

I totally would've snatched one of the cupcakes!

Let's be real though, if they had eaten the cupcakes, it would've been admitting that they made a mistake with the story. Doing something like that so soon after a game's been released is stupid. Remember Dragon Age 2? Took them at least a month to admit that the level re-using etc was a bad move. They might eventually say "yeah, the ending was bad, we won't do the same mistake again", but then I'm sure they'll find something else to break so yeah.

Wait a minute, let me get this right, fans donate to have cupcakes delivered to BioWare, BioWare get cupcakes, BioWare give cupcakes to Charity, and people have issue with this?

This to me looks like a win on every level.

Fans showed their love, BioWare saw that love, Charity gets cupcakes that will make people happy! EVERYBODY WINNAR!

And when I donated money to have the cupcakes sent to you, that was all I was expecting. All I wanted you to do with them is realize that we don't hate BioWare and the general message we wanted to send was tongue-in-cheek.
Thanks for showing that you're listening.

I think that Chris Priestly's press release walks the very fine line of almost coming out and saying, "If the feedback isn't positive, we will not pass it along to the team."

I don’t mind that they gave the cupcakes away to the youth shelter -- they probably would have gone to waste otherwise and I appreciate that they didn't -- but can Bioware not put out a single press release without snarking back at the fans?

It's just as unhelpful as unconstructive criticisim from fans.

MINI UPDATE

For those of you wondering why CTV didnt show up and why Global news did. CTV sent me a message saying that their resources of late are really being eaten up by the election so they were not able to send a crew. Guess global just happened to have more resources free today :P

Don't you mean the Federal budget?

It's great that some poor kids get cupcakes, really.

Yet refusing the cupcakes in this way makes Bioware seem very small minded.
To react like this doesn't exactly lead to feelings of reconciliation between Bioware and Retake.

Seriously I want this all to end well, but I feel that Bioware is sending one wrong message after another.

Good way to deal with this? Graciously accept the cupcakes, let everyone at BW who wants to eat one do so and donate the rest to charity (even better if they donated something from their side as well).

People are so narrow-minded. The cupcakes is just another poor interpretation of "Hey, here's your ****-up in an eatable-state, enjoy." Who in their right mind would want to send that message to their employees, it's like trying to shove down a form of mockery into someone's mouth and digest it.

Perhaps LoganKey could comment. That is certainly not how I interpreted it. It was a little bit cheeky but overall I believe these were sent out with the best of intentions. The majority of the game was very good, to me this was a celebration of the series, but with proviso about the ending. I hope Bioware did not take this as you suggest.

I can answer here. (and show the initial idea mails for that mather.)
The cupcakes were send to motivate and show them we care... And to give them something physical at that instead of mails, letters, tweets or other digital or written messages.

The cupcakes were meant to be a good-natured jab, but at the same time they were also an ironic reprimand for the endings. Like I said before, if I were a BioWare employee, I wouldn't really be able to enjoy cupcakes that were mocking me (though that's just me).

As it is, they have a literal fistful of messages from us, which was the real point of the cupcake campaign. And there are a bunch of kids out there who can actually enjoy the cupcakes without any bad feelings or conflicts of interest. For me, that's the sweetest thing that could have come out of this.

Fair enough, that's classy. As long as you realize it was done out of love for Mass Effect (with exception to the ending) and aren't just casting away our gesture because you didn't like what it represented, I approve.
