I have to repeat what others have said before:

HOLD THE LINE.

Even if I really did like what happened here today and what Chris is saying, there is still nothing concrete about endings or DLC. Remember that. Keep it civil, stay classy, greet the officers of the "other side" with respect. But no matter what is said or written - you WILL hold the line.

Getting late here, so HOLD THE LINE for me until I wake up, please. Today has been an adventure, thank you to everyone who made this happen:D

Nobody expected you to eat the cupcakes. Well, I didn't.

Personally, I actually did expect Bioware to eat the cupcakes. But that was mainly because I sent them chocolates to thank them for NWN patch 1.69 and they were happy to eat those. To be fair, a single box of chocolates wouldn't make much of a presentation to a children's shelter and I am happy with the outcome of this cupcake drive!

Did you? Oh..lol..oops. It woulda been cool, but.....I didn't think there would be enough staff there to tackle it properly.

This. Is. Important.

BioWare, take heed. Something that a lot af the fanbase has FELT has not been the case, is precisely connecting with them, leveling with them.

I liked the previous blunt reply from you too, PR be damned.

Remember - the polished PR statements, if used too often, and if being too polished, may actually work AGAINST the company. Just sayin'.

Maybe honesty sometimes is the way to go, being on the safe side all the time doesn't come off as human. That means the company MAY be regarded by some customers as being too distant from human responses, just based on the company being on the safe side all the time.

Sometimes the blue collar response works better than the white collar response.

It really depends. Chris Preistly is the "community rep" or something simliar. So he always needs to be "white collar" first where it matters and then "blue collar" where it matters.

Take the previous statments from BioWare workers in this thread. Excited and liked this idea. I guess Abrahms, Johnsons, and Matichucks respons should have some with the warners "these are not representive of the company at all and should not be taken seriously"
Or something of the like.

That is the difficlut position they are at. If one person says something it is taken as the whole compnay. It is held against ALL of BioWare and we see that happening now because a few people mentioned how they like cupcakes and that was a few days ago. (at least from what the thread tells me)

Some would like to say "Well BioWare knew they would not be taking these cupcakes"
And maybe that is true. In fact that was likely what happened that they had a quick meeting or something about it and decided that was their choice.

So then it comes down to coming onto these forums and telling everyone to stop this cupcake movement. Does anyone think the overall reaction would be "BioWare has a good reason to stop the cupcakes?"

Rambling I am going to stop.

Well, to be fair, if we told BioWare we hated the ending and wanted them to change it, but that we'd still keep buying all of their products regardless, they'd have no reason to listen to us.

Our dollars speak louder than our voices ever will.

Point taken.

I guess I just come at it from a different perspective. If you loved everything up to that point, and really enjoyed the work that was put into the rest of it, I don't quite undestand the desire to financially hurt hte people who made it. I get the dissatisfaction, and the desire to see it rectified. I am not sure if it was necessary to review bomb and threaten to make that point.

I don't want to give the impression that I have taken part in (or endorse) review bombing.  I haven't, and I don't see the point.  I haven't written a review of Mass Effect 3 anywhere, but if I did I would be perfectly honest about the game's strengths (of which there are many) and flaws (of which there are a couple really glaring ones).  As currently stands, I'd give the game about a seven.  There are parts that are really awesome (Tuchanka, Rannoch), but there are several bad moments that tend to overshadow those (the final chapter).

As far as the threatening future purchases goes, how else do you expect to get BioWare's attention?  They are a business, first and foremost.  If the message that you send them is that you will complain but still buy everything they sell, they're going to keep doing what they're doing.  If the message is that you are going to threaten their sales (and thus future profits), they will listen out of necessity.

As someone who works in the corporate world, let me tell you, unless there's a profit in it, it probably won't get done.  BioWare isn't a charity.  They're a corporation.  If you want them to listen to you, you have to hit them where it hurts: their bottom line.  As such, I've been doing my best to convince any friends that haven't already to skip Mass Effect 3, and will continue to do so until the ending is changed.  I also don't plan on purchasing future BioWare content or DLC as long as the ending remains unsatisfactory.

Holding the line isn't making a few posts on a forum that, by and large, BioWare may not even read.  Holding the line is showing them that they can't make promises and not keep them without financial repercussions.

Thanks, Mr. Priestly. I rescind my criticism in that other thread.

Love you guys. Love 99.999% of your ME games. :)

dammit we lost another one due to indoctrination :(

HoLd thE linE

Negative, I'm still here. On the line.

But perspective matters. As hurt & angry as we are by the ending & some of the responses we've gotten to our little movement, it is critical to remember that we're not here because we hate BioWare. We're here because we love them & their games. Because they make us care about the worlds they build for our entertainment (and their livelihoods.)

I appreciate honest non-parsed talk from BioWare on this. Like most folks, I despise polished back-handed PR speak.  I still hold onto a slim hope that Casey or Mac or whomever at BioWare is making the call on this will not take all this criticism personally, and realize they need to replace most of the end-game they wrote.  Not simply touch it up.

But Mr. Priestly "got real" with us, and I appreciate it.  And even if tomorrow BioWare flips us the bird & refuses to do a single thing with the ending to ME3 ... well, I'll nerdrage. I won't lie about that. But when I've cooled down I'll be able to recognize that I've gotten a few hundred hours of the best gaming & story reading/participation I could have hoped for out of the Mass Effect franchise. That won't ever change, even if the last 15 minutes doesn't.

And then my wallet & I will (sadly) say goodbye to BioWare for good.

But until then, I'm still on the line. Hoping.  And recognizing constructive dialogue when it appears.

EDIT: In the meantime, I'l keep enjoying the alternate ending & fun ribbing unfolding here (http://koobismo.devi...rt.com/gallery/ )

Hey Bioware, you know what I find funny?

You're being offered three colours to choose from, and using your own critical thinking you've made your own decision and said "We choose option #4".

Giving Shepard that same choice would go a long way to showing you understand where this went wrong.

Best response to the whole thing, imo.  Well played, Eain.Image IPB

To everyone that is pissed off Bioware ppl didn't eat the cake...you gotta understand the way Chris Priestly said it best: "these cakes are not made to celebrate our work, and is used to send a message." I think they got the message that the FANS are not happy with the ending, but we still appreciate them for the rest of their hardwork (the rest of ME3). Now the issue is what are they gonna do after this...

When will it stop? What happens if the new ending doesn't satisfy the unhappy people. My advice, let it go and move on.

LOL, you just asked a bunch of gamers to let something go? you sir/madam don't know how hardcore gamers think! who played Halo over and over again just to see the Grunts and Elites dancing easter Egg?:D

here we go with Halo, I'm begining to think all the whiners are Halo, COD, 360 users. This is least the 6th time I've seen a reference to Halo in the last two days

And, your point ?
I think you missed his point.

I hope they didn't isolate the rest of the team from everything that happened.

I get the bad feeling that all our notes ended up in a room somewhere and only a few devs saw them... probably just my paranoia talking.

Sadly once a company is owned by EA or Activision that's pretty much out of the question.

It's really a shame there aren't more companies out there like Valve.
