Dunno why people were upset you donated them to charity. Not like you have to eat them to get whatever message was intended to come along with em. You guys are great for doing it, thanks for making the world a better case.

This sums things up nicely for me... and in a nicer way than I would have put it towards those who are upset about the cupcakes being donated.

I'm a huge supporter of doing things for charity, especially where kids are involved. Why anyone expected Bioware to eat the cupcakes that were sent without the best of intentions is beyond me.

Because the cupcakes were technically destructive.  There wasn't anything meaningful meant by them except as a backhanded way of saying "You dun goofed, BW, here's a treat."  I'm really surprised folks don't get this.

And technically, donating the cupcakes wasn't "taking a 4th option" either.  They just refused the cupcakes.  Donating them was a variation on the option of refusing them. ;)

I understood that, Riou.

But it didn't make me want cupcakes any less. :(

If there were people upset they were donated, they were very very few. (The worst I saw was someone claiming it was a publicity stunt to make the fans look bad, which.. well. just no.)

People were upset with something said in Priestly's response. It was either poorly worded/over-analyzed/unnecessary to mention/what have you. It rubbe people the wrong way. People were happy the cupcakes went to deserving kids but unhappy with that little blurb that went along with it.

Hey John, I just noticed you're a cinematic designer. Do you mind if I ask you what program you use? I'm a maya animator, but I'm the only one of my friends that doesn't work in games. Did you work on the rendered scenes, or the in game scenes?

Cinematic Design uses all in-game assets - conversations, and some of the cutscenes (depending on resources). I know that our Cinematic Animators (they handle the really heavily authored scenes, usually those that require the most custom animation) use 3DSMAX.

Yeah Max seems to be the gaming choice. I should probably learn it myself, just for versatility. Thanks for answering, I really appreciate it.

Hah, the company I work for makes both of those products.

Who would I go to to try and get Varric in DA3? He needs more screentime.

I'd suggest learning Maya as well, at least to some degree. It's also fairly popular.

It seems to me, and correct me if I'm wrong, this LoganKey fellow only did this, or came up with this for the 'publicity' he seems to be getting from the interviews.

Don't get me wrong, the cupcakes going to the kids is amazing. But the message behind them seems a bit...skewed. Like partially it's a middle finger to Bioware in a creative manner, and partially "hey! I'm going to get internet famous out of this!" from the creator of this..I don't know what to call the cupcake thing.

Like there are two different reasons going on here.

I'm not trying to be jaded or anything, it was just an observation from what I've seen thus far.

I see what you're saying. And I understand why Bioware "passed" on the cupcakes. No question it was a mixed message coming at them. But the message was received loud and clear. I think that's what's important. I don't expressly want to hurt the feelings of the developers but, this message was necessary. But no matter what: glad the underprivileged kids can benefit. (Those cupcakes looked delicious) Dammit. Now i'm hungry. For cupcakes. Obviously.

Edit: Why can I not spell cupcakes correctly? Seriously.

I'm not questioning that. I'm questioning Logankey's motives. He keeps posting about the interviews he's done and stuff like that. Like THAT was what was important to them, not the message to Bioware. Or maybe it's just me, I dunno. I just thought I'd point out how it looks.

I understand the message that was sent to BioWare and why they did what they did. (All in all, I'm beyond happy that kids who dont get much got the cupcakes. I actually took a cake I baked to my friend today who works at an after-school program for the kids). And yes, they did look delicious lol

My only motivation is to bring about a better ending for this game. Preferably one with my Shep living, my crew living.. the galaxy not in a dark age... and blue babies.

@Loudent Alias/Wavefront eh? I remember when theys was separate, dagnabit! And git offa my lawn.

@John Oh I've been doing just maya...well, that and after effects. But for things I used to do character animation on, a lot of it's motion capture now. Sometimes I feel like I got a dead degree. Oh well...as long as I have time to *play* games I'm a happy camper lol.

I have a degree in English literature and Film Studies. The latter is certainly relevant, although even then, it had more to do with theories of film analysis than the specifics of how films are made. The former, though - well, if you want an analysis of Seamus Heaney poetry, I'm your man. I'd argue there's really no such thing as a 'dead' degree, though, especially not in this industry.

I really don't think that it's fair to suggest that Logankey did this for the publicity. He had an idea, and he followed through with it. Let's try and avoid ascribing nefarious intentions where I imagine none exist.

We must know! Did you guys have to hold Thomas back/ turn the hose on/ chain or tape or tie to the floor or wall or ceiling?

it is a must. I invisioned tears, colourful words, 12 stages of grief  pamplets left on his desk... it's why I say when a Marauder shields sculpt cake is made- shield's head goes to Thomas, and Thomas alone.

Oh so you'd be on our side then? Awesome.

I say that because anyone with a literature or film degree would be aware of how to properly form a story and proper narative strucutre. So assuming that then you would know why the ending is bad yes? Just pointing out some facts. Anyone who actually knows what they're talking about knows the ending is bad.

Don't tempt me with Irish poetry. If you'd mentioned Scottish poetry (just a lot of gutteral yelling and smells, really) and/or shoes I would have married you. So, so close.

The objective is achieved when they admit their mistake and give us a real ending.

The main issue I saw people having was just the message from Chris that seemed to misunderstand the intentions - the thing about the cupcakes not being sent in the spirit of celebrating ME3 - that was later properly clarified, although I wouldn't be surprised if the articles about this focus on that first message and interpret it as a scolding from BioWare in order to push their 'RetakeME3 is a bunch of entitled babies' narrative. I only saw a few people even remotely 'upset' about the cupcakes being given to charity, and that was mainly because they considered the cupcakes to have been a gift to BioWare, and they thought it felt off to give them away - I mean, most people would feel a little offended if they gave a gift to someone and that someone gave it away. There's also a few people who saw it as BioWare using homeless kids to give themselves a holier-than-thou image, much in the way that RetakeME3 was accused of 'using' Child's Play - only worse, as BioWare didn't pay for the cupcakes. I don't believe that was their thinking, of course, but I think some are imagining the people who chastised RetakeME3 never accusing BioWare of the same thing, and getting overly mad at the possible double standard.
