Though I am a member of Retake, I must say, if I put myself in BioWare's shoes I would find this "gift" somewhat insulting. It's like a backhanded compliment. It's clearly a two-faced gesture that gives with one hand while wagging its finger with the other. Things like this should be done out of appreciation, not to bake criticism into their very food. JMO.

People are only raging because they love the series so much. That's a backhanded compliment already. We have told them about how unhappy we are. We are now bribing them with cupcakes. How much could it hurt, really?

Oh yeah, to those who resent us for doing this because we are "rewarding them for the bad endings", they will surely botch the endings to future games to, on purpose, just so we can drown them in cupcakes.

I mean, come ON.

Holy crap..I go to sleep...go to work...come back and find that not only has it reached it's funded goals but there's already a potential Maruder Shields cake in the works?

Holy Hell. I'm in heaven. Would love to see's biowares reaction!!!

Btw, have we decided if there will be any message attatched with the cupcakes? Or will we let the red, green, blue cupcakes speak for themseleves?

Aesieru, please go make a thread in the general forum about distrust and betrayal and all of that. That is not what this thread is for.

I am fully within my rights to argue and debate the logic of this without castigating you for how you spend your money.

Do this WHEN BioWare apologizes, NOT BEFORE.

Then do it in a thread that doesn't cater to our deliveries of cupcakes to BioWare, please. This is something we want to do, you don't want to be a part of it. That's fine. Now go gently caress yourself, and do it somewhere where we won't have to read about it. Please.

There's two different reasons people seem to be opposed to it. Some feel it's "rewarding" them for failure (which I consider silly ... a nice gesture from fans would encourage Bioware to listen. And in my opinion they already listen anyway, more than most developers).

Some others, like me, feel it's extremely disheartening to see the positive energy from the Retake movement diverted from charitable causes towards (what we can all hopefully respectful agree is) a frivilous activity such as sending cupcakes. It's people's choice what they do with they money, obviously. But the money is being generated from the energy surrounding the fanbase right now, and I liked seeing it go towards good causes. This feels like a diversion away from that.

But that's just my opinion. Carry on with the cupcake drive, hope it goes well.

Exactly, and that's a great way of looking at it.

Don't assume that the Retakers aren't still donating to other charities.  There are things people do for fun and things people do for a greater cause. Not everything has to be such serious business. Just because you don't understand doesn't mean you shouldn't let the people that do enjoy themselves.

My wallet says: So much this^^

EDIT:
Also, I will probably spend some money on myself and others tomorrow, you know, buying coffee for all of my friends because I can, and also a nice lunch with more calories than I need. That's just so inefficient. I am deeply ashamed

A basic concept my Latin teacher once explained to me: everyone has their price. In his case, the price happened to be $100,000 for an A. Unfortunately, I couldn't match it.

I didn't get to donate, but I like the idea. I am a Retaker, btw. Of course everyone knows "our" take on the endings.

The game was done with great work. A LOT of BioWare games have been. It is why, I who never pre-order games, pre-ordered DAII. That game made me worry about BioWare, but the game simply felt rushed. I could let it pass. I pre-ordered ME3 anyways and the game was great. That's the part that gets me...the game was great. There were easter eggs all over and..... BLASTO 6 lolz.. Moridin and Tali and the Geth. (personally a part I loved: "That was for Moridin, you son of a ..." There was obvious effort involved, it is seen by the gamers as a "labor of love" as well as the staff. Which is why the ending "hurt " all the more.

These cupcakes are for the 99% of the game...for ME2 and ME1. For DA:O and KotOR. The message they send however is for the remaining 1%

....plus.......I can be a wiseguy a lot and I love the whole "all taste the same" gag. Like looking back on something we argued over and laughing about it. It doesn't mean we won't still desire some kind of answers however. If everyone involved with the ending can say "THIS is what we set out to achieve when we started," I would be surprised. In any case. Eat a cupcake. "You're Listening" but remember....so are we...eagerly.....for something, anything (especially about what something, if anything would make Joker run) :)

There's still a charity drive going on as well for children's reading. I've donated to BOTH the charity drive and the cupcake drive because I believe in both. I also donate to two cancer research charities. I can buy a cupcake or two if I wanna.

And I don't see the cupcakes as a reward for the writers hurting me with that ending. Have you seen some of my many, many posts? I've been pretty scathing with my criticisms of the ending and how it's been handled and all that. My donating to the cupcake drive is my way of expressing my frustrations in a more tongue-in-cheek manner while also expressing my appreciation of their putting up with my less kind bits of venting.
