I'd rather send something more ''durable'' of Marauder Shields tho. So they can see it every time they're writing and ''NEVER FORGET'' about all of this, preventing these outcomes.

This is amazing. If I'd have found this earlier I definitely would have donated to the cause.

Even though the ending of ME3 made me cry and this was certainly a sweet way to send an important message, to me it'd also feel like a thank you for all the other awesome things they've done.

How about sending them a box of Marauder Shields swag? T-shirts, hats, mugs, keychains, or something like that?

I'll hold this in reserve then. It's still rough anyway. It'll take at least until the end of the day tomorrow to clean it up since I've got work.

Still rough? Looks great already. :) I'm looking forward to seeing the later version. Would make one heck of a commemorative plaque for the movement regardless of the outcome.

On the cake maybe we should have something like "The cake was a lie"

Before people get a little too freaky with their enthusiasm, I hope people realize that none of this is, in any way, shape or form, required to get us to listen to you. Nor can we be bribed to make things go your way. And finally, no matter what happens, we still love our community.

That said, if this comes to pass (after all, nothing is guaranteed), i will dedicate my cupcake to those who said I should get more than one cupcake.

Cheers!

I'm sure you and most of the mods do love the community Stanley. That was never in question really.

But if the writers, developers, marketing and the producer loved the community they probably would have given us a decent ending with actualy closure that wasn't a complete load of nonsense with plot holes large enough to drive a dream sequence through.

Just saying.

Yeah, we did this to show love not to "bribe" you into anything.

But you know, I guess it's only fair that you jump to "speculation."

It's certain gaming 'journalists' spinning this in a devious way that I'd be worried about. i can see it now:

"Whiny entitled Mass Effect fans try to bribe Bioware with insultingly colored cupcake scheme! Read all about it!" :P

I don't see how the thought of bribing Bioware would cross any of our minds. I see it as a token of goodwill. We have complaints, we hate the ending, but we don't hate the developers.

Guys, the excess money would not pay for a Marauder Shields Cake... at least not the kind that you might be invisioning.

A full 3d sculpted cake of marauder shields would be hella expensive. $100 wouldn't begin to cover it. So if a Marauder Shields Cake initiative were to happen, we'd need another fundraiser to pull it off.

I thought it would be more along the lines of those "print your kid's picture on a flat square cake with food dye" kind of cakes, but with a screenshot of Mr. Shields.

-edit- Kinda like this

Thats all I was imagining for a cake too, just something extra they could whip up quickly. I really would not like to see this delayed until after pax. So I say either send the cupcakes with a simple cake before pax, or set up a seperate initiative that is ready to go right after pax to send them a giant maurader shields cake after pax if Bioware doesnt reveal anything super exciting.

As for multiple maurader shields plaques saying never forget, I think that is also a great idea to hold in reserve until either after pax, or after Biowares announcement in April depending on what it is that gets revealed.

All that being said everyone should keep those creative juices flowing so that we have more awesome ways to show just how much we love Mass Effect.

We did good today people. Am proud to be part of this movement. :) And I believe the cupcakes will be a welcome relief to the Bioware staff.

But with that said, remember Stanley's comments about not getting too freaky with our enthusiasm. I think we have done all we can in this thread. I saw this suggestion over at HTL: "I suggest we let this take it's course and show BW we truly do love them. In that effect I suggest we try and lock the cupcake thread on BSN... ....ask for a lock and let out baked goods to the talking."

Discussion of the Marauder Shields cake and other ideas can continue in other threads here and on HTL. We can also take a little rest and reserve our energy for any challenges that may pop up in the next few days. What do you guys think?

Actually I disagree, I think you have to leave this one open until it is determined what will happen to the additional $100.  The people who donated are owed that and they might not know where to find the information if this is shut down now.  Posted Image

As a compromise, perhaps the last post before locking can have a set of links for where the discussion of various related topics are continuing. I don't know. Was just a thought.

It's a tricky one - personally I'd be inclined to leave it as is for the moment to avoid any chance of looking like it's being dropped while there is still money unaccounted for. You don't want to do anything that could be made to look dodgy.

I don't see the problem with that. Poll for that money will still be up though even if we ask for a lock. Looks like Marauder Shields will be visiting Bioware FYI.

Why close it? It's one of the only threads were people are actually smiling a bit.
