I don't see the problem tbh.

It is totally ok that you guys don't agree with us giving other people we like cupcakes, but why are you bashing our heads in because of it? We aren't bashing your heads in because you don't want to give them cupcakes.

And that charity argument is ridiculous. Those you wanted to donate to charity most likely already did. It's not like this cupcake drive STOLE money from charity. I happily donated to both causes and I can tell you that the $10 I sent to the cupcake campaign is not money I would have sent to charity instead (le gasp I am a horrible person). This is not how most people use their money. "Hmm do I really need/want this apple or should I send these $xx to charity instead?" Seriously stop trying to push people down for wanting to do something that you don't agree with. We like cupcakes. We want to give BioWare cupcakes. End of story. I doubt anyone at BioWare is stupid enough to think that this is a reward for giving us a bad ending. Maybe if it was a daycare we sent cupcakes to. Kids might have gotten the wrong idea. Or some dogs that misbehaved.

Just because BioWare (imo) botched the ME3 ending (badly) doesn't mean I personally hate the individuals behind the game. I am very grateful for everything they have given us and I have already used up all my anger/depression/anguish and this is a way for me to say "Hey I still love you but I don't agree with you". I have no illusions that they will change their minds based on some cupcakes. I doubt any of us do.

Can't the haters just let us have our giggles and lulz and leave it at that? Make a "hate the cupcake campaign" thread instead and let us have this one in peace.

And tbh I don't really care what OP does with those   $100. Keep it, give it away to charity, give Fuss a big tip. It's all good.

And this thread still makes me smile! I really love this idea. Kudos OP Kudos! (And whoever else might have been involved in the starting of this idea).

EDIT: "Get away with anything"!? Exactly what am I getting away with here?

I'm certainly not Leonia and I don't speak for her but I'm thinking she's referring to the ones who've posted wanting violence on the "haters" (namely, myself) and then quickly try to turn the thread around by saying "YAY CUPCAKES", as if such a thing would protect them and make them appear sweet and funny.

Which does the opposite.

No, this just means you're hiding behind cupcakes. We can't have that.

Cupcakes is one of the more "interesting" ways of protest ;).

And that's cool. You can have fun and all, as long as you don't start attacking people for having a different opinions.

The problem is that I get that same feeling from disliking certain gameplay decission etc. Bioware has made and when voicing an opinion about it you get "attack" by "Fans", ignore "by Bioware" and labled as " a minority" or dismissed as a "it is only a small pool of people on these forums". No I don't expect a personally response from anyone least of all Bioware. But I don't get the feeling either that people stand up for "fans" even if they have a different opinion.  In the run up to a game it feels like we are all "fans" because it is helpful after the game is released well ... it make me incredible sad, because in the end it feels like being treated more as a "consumer" then a real "fan".

I loved the interaction of Devs with DA:O and the lore discussions etc. That was what actually drew me into Dragon Age universe. Reading all these discussion and on a very limited space even taking part in them. The same happend kind of in the run up to DA2. With DA2s release i felt ignored, not as an indivual but as a fan with concerns. It was the first Bioware game I played that I only played 1.5 times.

Now in a way the same happens with ME3. Certain development and gameplay choices that I personally don't like. The endings etc. .. I purposefully not pre-ordered ME3 (DRM issues) and haven't bought it yet. And it was game wise probably the only game this year I was really lookinf forward to it. However everything that has been said etc and I read both "positive" and "negative" .. "reviews" makes me weary.

I can understand that "bioware" as a company is protecting their employees from some / all of the crap that has been said about the game, endings, etc. I would do the same for anyone I'm responsible for as a manager etc. I don't doubt that everyone but a lot of effort, hard work and the proverbial "blood and tears" into ME3. It has been a great experiment and overall it has succeeded. As a gaming experience it was great so far (even counting all the issues I have with Biowares decissions in regards to ME).
However personally I also feel that as a company Bioware could do more to acknowledge issues in a product or issues that fans have with a game / gameplay decissions / story decissions etc. I personally don't feel Bioware is doing that either or at least not in away that is obvious.

Lucy_Glitter wrote...

I hate to agree, but people who act like that really make it difficult on everyone else.

It's not fair, guys.

Not fair is an understeatment. I usually keep myself out of these threads / discussions. But honestly, I don't understand people sometimes, who act like that .. just because of it being "The Internet".
That is part of the reason why I personally
haven't said too much about it all. Kind of "support for a movement"
means to sopme degree "supporting also the bad apples within a movement"
and I don't want that.

I suspect you of not being a real protester at all. Instead, I think you're hiding behind cupcakes.
That quote has got to be the greatest one I've encountered in recent years.

I think it's time to moveon.org. Speaking of which, over 80k spent "protesting" the ending of a video game? Tax the rich.

Around there. LoganKey and I are still trying to have a small chat with anyone in Edmonton to arrange pics.

They'll be delivered before PAX at least, and we are waiting to see what BioWare has to show there, before doing anything else.

We'll see after PAX. Maybe the extra 100 bucks will go to directly to charity instead. It's Logans call and he'll update the thread accordingly.

Tomorrow he and I will be updating threads I believe. We're going to wait until after the April announcement at PAX (presumably at PAX, when else would be a better time? =P) before we attempt anything else. So the cake idea is on hold until then and the excess cash has been donated to Full Paragon.

After the announcement if it's good we should do this again. I'd donate I would of this time but I didn't see until after it was over.

We wanted to do the cake with the cupcakes, but it would have been too close a call to PAX for it to be ready. By then everyone who was on their way to attend PAX would have definitely been gone (if they aren't already, who knows). So we decided to go ahead with the cupcakes instead of waiting.
