In light of all the people complaining that this money should have been given to charity, that's pretty amusing. Joke's on them too, as well as us =)

Wow... @chrispriestley. So you guys have just basically slapped everyone who donated or supported this right in the face. I didn't think there was any way that this could turn sour. I'm ashamed to admit I was wrong...

They donated it to a Youth centre, I think that was very good of them, and it's not like they didn't receive the messages. They received the huge metaphor for the endings and the personal notes attached to them - that should be enough.

Yep PR shenanigans trying to make themselves look good. But it is going to a good cause so yeah can't complain there.

Ah well, gesture made, gesture noted... and kiddos get some cupcakes. I'm more than happy to think of those kids getting a little extra joy out of today.

Hi Everyone

Today, we received the 400 cupcakes you collectively sent us through your donations to express your feelings about the endings of Mass Effect 3. We want you to know; we are indeed listening to all fan response and acknowledge your feedback. We appreciate creative and thoughtful attempts like this one.

The gesture certainly gained our attention both with its creativity and deliciousness. However, while we do appreciate that fans were creative in how they expressed their views, after a lot of discussion, we decided ultimately the reason that they were sent was not done in the context of celebrating the work or accomplishment of the Mass Effect 3 team. This is a subtle, but important aspect in determining how to pass the feedback to the team.

BioWare regularly works with many deserving charities,  as such it was decided that rather than passing  out the cupcakes to staff or wasting good food, to donate them on behalf of our fans to a local Edmonton youth shelter. We know that for the kids that have to use this facility, something as simple as a cupcake is a rare treat and would definitely brighten up their day.  Thank you to the fine folks at the local youth shelter for accepting the donation and to the fans who donated the cupcakes.

Please keep providing your feedback on Mass Effect 3, we’re still listening.

I'm sure that wasn't pre-typed or anything.

Well I gotta say that was masterfully done. Turn one PR stunt into another without blinking. Makes it hard for us to disapprove because needy children will be getting the cakes. And my first instinct is to disapprove btw.

I wouldn't want to be around when Thomas Abram is told that he isn't getting a cupcake.

ROFL, you kidding me? These cupcakes were for you guys. Way to mock the fans' creative & good natured attempt at providing feedback for YOU. You just lost a lot of respect in my eyes. You "acknowledge" the feedback you're receiving by getting rid of something meant specifically for you. That's like running off stage if you're getting stuff thrown at you. Where's your dignity? A simple thank you would've sufficed. If the fans meant to donate cupcakes or whatever else to charity, they could've done this on their own accord - already proven by Retake's track record.

Ridiculous.

Edited: I mean no disrespect by the way, but I do disagree with what you've done here.

thats disappointing that so many people still hold grudges. I donated with the intention of celebrating the Mass Effect series as one of the best franchises i've ever come across; my note reflected that (if it was even included). Sorry that you guys couldn't enjoy a glorious victory treat.

Well I'm glad someone gets to enjoy them. I guess you guys proabably couldn't manage to eat that many with a skeleton crew anyways. Glad the kids get to keep on winning through the Retake movement. Still I wonder how many of them will be like: "What's with the letters?"

Thanks for updating us.

The needy children of the world, for one group, are probably hoping all BioWare games end in dissatisfactory ways for the fans. Video games, cupcakes, this is working out well for them.

Hopefully BioWare at least kept the notes with the feedback. I can't see the children having much use for those.

Anyone know if a youth shelter will even accept this type of perishable goods donation when it doesn't come directly from the producer/baker? Last time I worked a food drive for the needy it was canned and non-perishable items only for obvious reasons.

Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see the pics of happy kids eating cupcakes, but I'm skeptical.

Cheers. That may be too much sugar for a single shelter, but at least it's going to kids who deserve it.

I hope Thomas got a cupcake at least, he was so excited.
At least you guys donated it to charity, but know it was a gift for Bioware for making a great game.
