Yep PR shenanigans trying to make themselves look good. But it is going to a good cause so yeah can't complain there.

Yea conflicting emotions, they definitely have their PR guys watching our every move. We saw it with the shutdown of Child's Play and now the cupcakes. They take our positives and turn them into their positives. Still though at the end of the day we've done some good.

I'm glad they gave them to charity. Who eats them makes no difference, the idea was to further bring the point home to Bioware, and that's been done. Good work all!

Choice #1: Eat cupcakes, but gain weight and have the opposite sex lose interest in you.
Choice #2: Destroy cupcakes, but all kittens are also destroyed.
Choice #3: Deflect cupcakes to children who will develop poor eating habits and increase Canadian obesity (thus joining us in the United States).

Hmmmm.....

Of course it was pre typed!  They knew it was coming because an act like this works best when it's kept quiet, which is something I silently noted was an error when this first came about.  Also that's 400 cupcakes when a lot of the staff isn't even there, it'd be silly to keep it around.  Point made, kids get yummy cupcakes though feel free to pity poor Thomas.

Jeez people don't make me rejoin the Bioware Defense Force...

Hm, very telling Mr. Priestly. It is interesting to get an idea on what sentiment is like around the office then.

Honestly, donating the cupcakes is the right move on BioWare's part, for two reasons. First, it would be in bad taste (no pun intended) for them to eat them. Think about it, are those cupcakes really for them? Or are they supposed to help send a message? I'll give you a hint...its send a message.

The other reason, is the cupcakes are a knock against BioWare. They were sent to call attention to a blunder they made. Imagine if someone gave you a cake for being the "World's Worst Boss," would you eat it/celebrate? I wouldn't.

But still, sending the cupcakes was a sweet move...no pun intended.

"The gesture certainly gained our attention both with its creativity and deliciousness. However, while we do appreciate that fans were creative in how they expressed their views, after a lot of discussion, we decided ultimately the reason that they were sent was not done in the context of celebrating the work or accomplishment of the Mass Effect 3 team. This is a subtle, but important aspect in determining how to pass the feedback to the team. "

Ok I get Donating to a Shelter or some other form of after school thing, but, that wording is all wrong. We did indeed enjoy the game. We enjoyed all the games. The gripe that made this all work is that Bioware didn't live to the standards they have set forth in prior game releases. Yes we love Bioware and all the games they produce. But the quality of Mass Effect 3 is overshadowed by a loss of Choice and Consequence. Those that donated the money did so on behalf of gamers who think Bioware did not do the best job they could have when it came to the endings of Mass Effect 3.

Donating the cakes to a youth centre is in keeping with the giving, charitable ethos of the Retake Mass Effect movement.

Thank you for holding the line with us.

Most shelters actually do take baked goods. I worked briefly at one, and most groceries donate thier excess cakes and things rather than see them go bad. You'd be surprised how much bread would just be thrown out.

Also I feel like this feud has the makings of being the most adorable feud ever.

Hi Everyone

Today, we received the 400 cupcakes you collectively sent us through your donations to express your feelings about the endings of Mass Effect 3. We want you to know; we are indeed listening to all fan response and acknowledge your feedback. We appreciate creative and thoughtful attempts like this one.

The gesture certainly gained our attention both with its creativity and deliciousness.

BioWare regularly works with many deserving charities,  as such it was decided that rather than passing  out the cupcakes to staff or wasting good food, to donate them on behalf of our fans to a local Edmonton youth shelter. We know that for the kids that have to use this facility, something as simple as a cupcake is a rare treat and would definitely brighten up their day.  Thank you to the fine folks at the local youth shelter for accepting the donation and to the fans who donated the cupcakes.

Please keep providing your feedback on Mass Effect 3, we’re still listening.

That is great, you guys understood why we did it, I will never help to bash or insult the devs and teams so this was a good gesture in my opinion!

And it is good that the kids get to share this, but I am pretty sure that Mr. Abram will be dissapointed, we still love your games but we where dissapointed with the end of a really good series.

Hope you guys have a good day and remember that we still care ^_^

Like I said, I don't have an issue with them donating the cupcakes. I do have an issue that like someone else said, this seems very already planned out. I seriously doubt they read the notes (this is me being a cynic). The other side of this was to show that yes, we do love Bioware and here is cupcakes to show that we do..but here...here is the message we wanted you guys to know and how much it means to us. I believe by turning it into a PR stunt they've ignored both the feeling as well as the intent behind the cupcakes in the first place.

Good on you for donating it to the kids, but I'd be lying if your "thanks but no thanks" doesn't feel like a kick in the quad. Hope you enjoyed at least one cupcake...

Aww, that's kinda too bad... I did see it as a way to show appreciation for Bioware, and the Mass Effect team and all their hard work, while still expressing concerns in a tongue in cheek way. Still though, it's good that they'll go to people who will appreciate them. At least they didn't get thrown away. Ah well!

Wow... @chrispriestley. So you guys have just basically slapped everyone who donated or supported this right in the face. I didn't think there was any way that this could turn sour. I'm ashamed to admit I was wrong...

While donating to a youth shelter is fine, the fact that they seem to just dismiss our attempt at being friendly is rather dissapointing.

I kind of feel the same way. It was a funny and nice way to give something while still kinda pointing out how we feel. By giving them away it feels like they are throwing it back in our faces. "Good for you but we don't want them".

And I don't wanna sound all callous and stuff, but if I wanted to buy cupcakes for a youthshelter I would have bought cupcakes for a youthshelter. These were delicious cupcakes for Bioware who has made a great game but kinda missed up the ending. So a kind of reward while still saying we weren't fully happy with it.

Bioware you continue to troll... You trolled with your endings and now you are trolling our trolling cupcakes!! This will not end Bioware!! We will find a way to out-troll you! It is on. :P

Right, so next time we should send 'em 402 Mercedes-Benzes! Let's see them try to give those to a youth charity!

Think about it, I don't think they want to indulge in tasty foods based on something they probably feel bad about... They got the message which is what counts and the cupcakes are going to charity.

Our point was still made in a creative and tongue-in-cheek gesture. I sincerely hope that the Bioware team didn't find it insulting - we really did intend the cakes in good humour and in the spirit of fun. I'm glad someone will enjoy the treat :)

The sarcastic messages on paper are unnecessary. The cupcakes themselves convey the sarcastic message perfectly themselves.

Hey, children get cupcakes, when they grow up they know not to buy ME3.

I kid, I kid.

I honestly think it's rather rude to "re-gift" something simply because it wasn't given for the reason you wanted it to be. In my case, I saw an extended olive branch that was just denied. Very discouraging. I'm not upset that children got the cupcakes - I'm upset that BioWare didn't accept them.

I'm glad that the message behind the cupcakes was received even if you guys didn't eat them, donating them to kids at the youth shelter was the right thing to do. I'm pretty sure with so many on vacation after finishing ME3 even with everyone there they wouldn't have been able to finish 400+ cupcakes.

Even if Thomas is a self professed cupcake fiend =p
