This was an insulting response to it, and I figured something like this would happen, it makes them look good and superior and it also shows they don't respect the issues with the game.

Did anyone honestly think that they would accept the cupcakes? Personally, I'm fine donating money if it's ultimately for good use, like in this case. But the spokesmen/managers would never accept the donation, 'cause that would mean that they acknowledge our concerns about the ending. This way Bioware can pose as a generous donator to charity, the same way many people use to think that the charity drive was used by the fans - to gain the holier-than-thou image.

Exactly on the mark. I'm sure David Silverman was giggling in his comfy chair thinking how clever he was. And I think this shows how terrible BioWare's consultants in all matters PR are at their job.

I volunteered at a local Toronto Youth Shelter when I was in college... good move by Bioware, if the Edmonton shelters are anything like ours, they give those poor kids some pretty lame, bland and sometimes gross food (not really their fault, little to no funding and often really lousy donations as well)

Cupcakes will cheer up a bunch of young teens and kids, that's a good thing.

Hey guys,

So I just wanted to give everyone a heads up. I am going to be donating the excess $100 to Full Paragon. This is in no way reflective of whether or not we are going to do a Marauder Shields Cake in the future. It's just that such a project would take a few weeks (depending on the details of the cake), and I don't want to hang on to other people's money for that long.

So as I stated yesterday, the excess funds will be given to Full Paragon (confirmation coming soon) as it seems like the best solution.

Also, I've noticed that this thread is geting someehwat contentious, with quite a bit of bickering and back and forth going on. I don't want that to distract from the positive message that was generated from this effort, so please, just ignore the trolls. I don't want to have to ask a mod to shut this thread down, especially since I still need to post the photos once I get them

GOOD LORD! YOU PEOPLE ARE CRAZY!

We reached our goal of $1,005.00 in under an hour! You guys blew up my email box. As I type this, it's huddled in a corner crying :-P.

I couldn't even end the chipin before I got $100 more than what I needed. That money will be donated to Full Paragon OR I can ask the Owner to bake a cake in honor of Marauder Shields :-D. You guys decide.

Notes from these extra contributors will also be added to the cupcake boxes.

It's been an honor holding the line with you all. Damn.... I should've had the bakery make a tower cake or something...I'm gonna be here all day sorting through my emails :-D.

I've also gotten into contact with the owner from Fuss Cupcakes. He will be sending me an email confirming that the order has been FULLY PROCESSED. Will give a link and his email as soon as I get confirmation. Anyone who wants to independently verify may do so.

We are currently trying to organize the delivery of a mass of cupcakes to Bioware's studio in Edmonton. All the cupcakes will be divided into equal parts Red, Blue and Green colors... but they will all taste exactly the same. If you'd like to participate, please check out the thread below and let us know. 

This coming week, we should send Bioware boxes upon boxes of a dozen cupcakes . We are taking ideas as to what sort of notes we should have attached on each box. Some possibilities include: 


- "No matter what color you choose, they all taste the same";
- "No matter what color you choose, it's all vanilla ;-D"
- "We rage because we love"

What we need now is enough people who are willing to join in, and who are willing to help me organize this in a transparent way.

I'm loving the support, but please guys, go to the HTL website and post your support on that thread as well. I need to have an idea of how many people are willing to contribute to this before I actually place the orders!

How to Contribute:

Tomorrow, I will phone the companies and place an order for the cupcakes. When this is done, I will post the receipt, order confirmation, and contact info of the company and sales rep as proof that the orders have been done. I will then post a link to my paypal through Chipin, and cap the contributions at the ammount that will be on the receipt.

This seems like the most logistically feesible way of doing it. If someone has a better idea, please let me know.

Ok, I have spoken to a bakery located really close to Bioware studio's. They are called:

The approximate cost for this is $1005.00. That includes delivery, attaching our notes and letters, and having some photos taken of our creation. Note** Owner was kind enough to drop the price due to bulk.

There will be 402 Cupcakes. The cupcakes will be equally divided into three colors: Red, Blue and Green. Each color cupcake will have the corresponding letter 'A', 'B', 'C'

The company DOES NOT have a paypal account. That means that I will have to place the order, and take contributions directly to my own paypal, and pay for it that way. Will have a final figure in the next hour.

IN ADDITION:

Every single person who contributes, will be able to write a brief note to be attached to the cupcakes. We will also, as a community, write a letter from all of us to Bioware.

These cupcakes can be delivered by the end of the week. Personally, I'm shooting for Thursday or Friday, since that's well in advance of PAX.

hey logan.. we're are going to need another set of cupcakes... that have clarity and closure in them cakes you're making.. for the bad ending you guys think that are bad, hopefully the cupcakes are not! {no i am not trying to start a flame war or troll}i think for clarity and closure it should have maybe the heads of are LI and the Normandy? on a big cake?

Oh well. Bioware now bares its shame publicly. Those cupcakes and the ideas they represent sat in Mass Effect HQ in all their A,B,C glory. Happy ending for everyone. And I know that probably sounds a little sarcastic to any devs reading this, but the deflective nature of the receipt is bizarre. Most game devs WISH they had a base that cared half as much as we do, but that's dandy. Children get to eat some damn good cupcakes!

If your not glowing about the game and only quietly expressing some dislike about only specific parts of it while still expressing unwavering support for future and current Bioware products, than your criticism is not constructive.

Constructive criticism is one of the most over rated concepts is western culture. Real change is sparked overwhelmingly by embarrassing criticism. Real change comes from consumers refusing to buy products from the company who doesn't meet expectations. Not by supporting them out of blind loyalty. American cars lagged behind foreign cars for so long partially because of nonsense "Buy American" campaigns. Ford can make crap while your buying their crap. When you stop, they will improve their product.

There is only one way forward here for those who think ME3 was a massive let down. Do not give more business to Bioware, and continue to criticize them publicly and waveringly.

Personally, at least as far as the cupcakes are concerned they got the message but probably knew that a lot of those cupcakes were going to go to waste with people being out of the office etc. This way there are kids that can benefit and the effort of the fans and the bakers will be appreciated.

Most people will only respond to constructive criticism and in the end of the day the people who we want to affect change are individuals who take immense pride in their work (our opinions nonwithstanding). By demonstrating support people are showing that they don't have anything against the team and have concerns that they want the company to address. Constructive criticism is the only way to go on this very specific issue. If you have a problem with the brand or product as a whole then by all means take your business elsewhere but for most people that is not the case.

Global news Edmonton will be airing this story during thier broadcast from 5-7? Not exactly sure when their normal times are. They have an early news segment from 5-5:30, then follow that up with National news from 5:30-6 then a news hour from 6-7. So could be anytime there.

Guys, let's stay positive. I mean, sure, the message was probably lost and Bioware apparently doesn't understand the meaning of constructive and creative critisim, but some disadvtanged kids got some nice treats and it helped brighten THEIR day at least.

Let's pat ourselves on the back anyway and concentrate on our efforts for PAX.

I believe we made our intentions extremely clear about why we sent these to the bioware team. It is because we love mass effect and we love the team. This gesture was to show that and fan loyalty, and we gave your team the benefit of the doubt that you would be decent and listen to our feedback.

Absolutely no issue with them being donated to kids.

Definitely disagree with you making a decision to misinterpret and twist our good intentions & announce that we did this for the wrong reasons.
It's simply not true.

To tell loyal amazing fans "yeah you did this cool thing but we decided you did it for the wrong reasons so we do not accept this" is something I can't even wrap my head around. I personally am really disappointed in your response to this amazing gesture.

There was a hint of conflict of interest, no matter how much good nature the fans were basically having the devs eat humble pie.

They made the right call. Everyone wins.

We know that for the kids that have to use this facility, something as simple as a cupcake is a rare treat and would definitely brighten up their day.  Thank you to the fine folks at the local youth shelter for accepting the donation and to the fans who donated the cupcakes.

Please keep providing your feedback on Mass Effect 3, we’re still listening.
