Im very glad some kids in a shelter gets cupcakes. But the thing is, You can be well sure that there will be photos here from that shelter with happy kids eating those cupcakes. And thats nice. However playing the cynic... I wonder if there will be as much internal photography on the cakes as there will be IGN and press on delivering them to the kids. And I wonder if the kids and the general press will be told why Bioware "suddenly" donated 1k worth of pastries. If I were in a PR dept, Id really try to omit it. Colour me a cynic and a pessimist. Maybe they just donated it to the shelter(s) to bury it quickly.

I'll join you in being cynical and pessimistic. No doubt there's someone somewhere thinking up ways to exploit this.

Aww. Hope those kids enjoy the cupcakes.
But lol, the point is made in a sarcastic, cheeky way. I say this kind of protest works.

This was so tongue-in-cheek. I love it.

Poor Thomas Abram. :(

If they really change/expand the ending, we could make another donation for more cup cakes to celebrate. :)

I was hoping to catch the second wave, though a possible thank you for the pax annoucement, spent way too long hesistating over whether he was legit or if I was just getting him a new PC.

But now? Whats the point.

Hey Bioware, you know what I find funny?

You're being offered three colours to choose from, and using your own critical thinking you've made your own decision and said "We choose option #4".

Giving Shepard that same choice would go a long way to showing you understand where this went wrong.

Well said.

Leave the kids and the shelter out of this FFS.  I have to say this because someone will take this seriously.

Maybe now they realize at the very minimum they need to at least give us a 4th choice, possibly choosing that the god chld doesn't exst!

PR talk kinda kills mood.
"Hey, guys, got your cupcakes! Taste good! In order to save Thomas from overeating we've decided to donate cupcakes to a local charity. Cheers!
PS: Tasty indeed.
PPS: We kept the letters."
That would make me feel even better)

QFT.

I didnt donate, but I found the idea hilarious, until Chris' response. Yeah, poor children etc., but still, I'd be horribly disappointed now if I had donated. When I buy my GF a dress it'd be for her and if she donated it to some homeless shelter... yeah, slap in the face.

But I agree with above, if it hadn't been this kind of PR talk but a humorous, personal message... or just "Too much to eat, we have to donate most of it, but tried one... tastes bitter", that could've fixed the disappointment problem quickly. Now... I just have that EA feeling again.

They said no to the 3 choices and picked refuse.

Perfectly stated.

I'm out...I appreciate you donating to charity but saying this was not done in positive light is flat out wrong. We love the work you have done. This was to tell you we still loved you but you made a mistake. If april doesn't go well I have to say this is the end of the line for me...

I can already see it now. All the journalist articles talking about how great and generous Bioware are and how their evil fanbase who only wants to use children's charities for their own gain are now upset with their decision (which is due to the pretentious response, not the worthy cause). Well played, I suppose. I for one am done with reasoning with this company though, I'm sick of this holier than thou attitude.

-Yep. I agree.

However I want to point out that Bioware did precisely the same with this donation as some have bollocked the Retake movement for doing with the charitydrive. Eat a muffin and ponder that.

Aw, BioWare, you make me wanna cry (again...). They're happy tears, though. I was excited to see what would happen when the cupcakes hit the BW office, but I understand that donating the cupcakes to charity was the smartest course of action to take here. So, good job on handling that, that was a sweet move.

I'm glad you got our messages, and that kids' days are being improved by this whole thing. I mean, with all of the charity drives we're doing, kids really are getting the best of all this. I'm going to smile and think of this as a joint effort for the kids, and hope that you have something awesome in store for us at PAX.

I wish the response from Chris had sounded less robotic, though.

EDIT: Oh, I forgot to mention. It would be hilarious if you guys had cupcakes for us at PAX. >>

To be frank, I wonder how the rest of the world will view this. Obviously as fans and donators of the cupcakes we might be feeling a little rejected, but will outsiders view this as an obvious deflection as we do or just being sugary-sweet and the friend of children everyhwere?

Depends on what BioWare said when they delivered the cupcakes.

Here's hoping they mentioned the fan initiative at all.

From waht i remember most of the talk was not on the movement much. They talked to me and thanked me for coming out taking photos. (gave a small grab bag of bioware labeled stuff). The reporter commented on how surprised he was by everything and how positive it all was. Sorry for not being clearer, i was silly not to listen to every little word. Chris can probably explain more if he wants.

-This. However I seriously doubt they saw it like that. Well deflected, but it leaves them open to the criticism that they did precisely what they denied the fans.

But all in all, the "Retake" guys proved a point and made a statement. Grats guys. You're awsome.

So they didn't accept them. Wll that speaks volumes about it then. I'll say no more but color me a cynic and I never used to be that way until I saw how all of this stuff was handled since the ending fiasco began.

Bioware with the Paragon Interrupt!

Gotta agree with most here, it was a good thing to donate them to the kids. Especially if its true that a lot of the staff are on vacation this week, there might be a lot of food that would be wasted. Cupcakes were sent, message received, it was funny, they win, we win, Edmonton kids win...

It doesn't pay to be vindictive, people. Deep breath, keep calm, and know that once again, RetakeME3 did something good for some kids. Be proud of that.

Although c'mon...save at least ONE for Thomas.

If it gain enough traction the petulant whining expressed here and by other on the facebook page is just going to make us look bad, legitimately for once even if they still aren't the majority.

I think it's just an emotional reaction.

I doubt there are many who, after stopping to think for a few moments, would really have a problem with this.

I won't begrudge them the chance for a little spite today. We can't all constrain our communications to carefully prepared PR-approved statements.

thank you for helping me figuring out what i didn't like about the whole move.
...now I am going to headcanon this was what Chris said. What? I am getting used to headcanoning here.

Glad to help. I managed to headcanon the whole last ME3 Earth mission, my last birthday (i was drunk and forgot everything), Iraq war and moon landing.
I follow Casey and Walter's testament of "lots of speculation from everyone" and learn a bit about space magic.

And now we'll have wait an see.
