A part of me really just wants to give up and sell all my BW games. I mean, what's the point anymore... This line is being held, but clearly ignored as well.....

I love that BW did exactly what the Retake ME fans did... yet the fans got nothing but insulted for their troubles, from both the online 'press' and the charity itself. Gotta love it.

And the cherry on top is that BW didn't even really donate the cupcakes themselves... just piggybacked on the fans and watch the chimps at IGN eat it up.

I volunteered at a local Toronto Youth Shelter when I was in college... good move by Bioware, if the Edmonton shelters are anything like ours, they give those poor kids some pretty lame, bland and sometimes gross food (not really their fault, little to no funding and often really lousy donations as well)

It's a sobering thought that 402 cupcakes would be accepted by a single shelter. God in Heaven if each one finds a unique child.

We still have a long way to go, folks.

I bake / cook sometimes for fun when I'm bored and often in my own youth I would bring a batch of homemade cookies and muffins to them when I went to do my volunteer work... that was many years ago I last did that but I still vividly remember how they all beamed so genuinely with happiness to have a delicious treat... their lives are often really troubled and messed up, suicide rates among them are high and generally their lives are just miserable. But seeing them eat some homemade cookies always seemed to make them happy for a little while at least, and even if it is just a little bit of short happiness, they need all the little bits of happiness they can find.

So the way I figure it is that Bioware got / heard the message from the fans who sent them muffins... but rather than eating it themselves (let's face it they're wealthy enough to buy their own cupcakes in abundance), they did the kind thing and gave it to a group of people who will be immensely cheered up by it.

Kudos to the Bioware staff member(s) who thought to do this with the cupcakes they received.. it matters a lot to those kids.

Depends on what BioWare said when they delivered the cupcakes.

Here's hoping they mentioned the fan initiative at all.

From waht i remember most of the talk was not on the movement much. They talked to me and thanked me for coming out taking photos. (gave a small grab bag of bioware labeled stuff). The reporter commented on how surprised he was by everything and how positive it all was. Sorry for not being clearer, i was silly not to listen to every little word. Chris can probably explain more if he wants.

Thanks for letting us know, we appreciate all the effort put in this little protest-gift

Bioware, I applaud your decision to donate the cupcakes. At first it felt like a slap in the face, but then I realized there was no way you could eat that many cupcakes! I hope you guys ate a few of them, though.
I hope the kids enjoy them!

Good to see BioWare being good sports and using the situation to benefit children. Good contrast to Penny Arcade, that apparently didn't.

Tbh, if the excuse "not enough people here to eat them all" would have been used I don't see how they couldn't have kept like 30 cupcakes and "given" the rest away. That would have been understandable. This isn't ok imo.

could have been worste ( like anything) they could actuly have sale the cupcake to game as part of a special edition. Now they just point out that it ok if they give to charity but it not ok us giving to charity

I'm confused. Is IGN taking the cupcakes to the local youth homeless shelter?

 I want this documented. 

Because I'm highly considering of filing a lawsuit right about now. I want photos and videos of the cupcakes being HAND DELIVED to a local youth shelter, and not simply thrown away.
