Don't like that one either to be honest, her head is kind of creepy.

After all, the people who gave us the turians, the elcor, the salarians, and a myriad of other great alien designs wouldn't let us down. Even if I don't agree with the design decisions, I was sure I would love whatever design they chose.
Now bioware has proven me a damn liar. A sloppy photoshop edit of a public domain picture.... Years of speculation over the quarians, and does this.
I'm not even angry. Just tired...

Really beautiful rendition of the "stocked" Tali used by Bioware. I don't mind Tali looking like that at all, human-like or not.
+>9000!!!!!!
If they actually build a model of this then I would be happy very happy

@Welsh, you don't think their goat-legs, 3 fingers and 2 toes make them alien enough? Come on. By that logic Asari look more human than Quarians, because they have humanoid bodies.
I'm not exactly a fan of the Asari's looks either. I dont hate them but I dont like the fact that they were designed to be the "Blue space babes" of Mass Effect. But thats a whole other topic.
I just find their choice (and everyone who likes it) to be extremely unimaginative. If they actually made a 3d model I'd accept it as canon for the Quarians even if I'm not a fan of it. But they didnt, they went with a lazy photoshop job which leads me to believe they didnt really give much thought to what they might look like and just went with the "tali fans love the space elf look, lets go with that!"

I am currently replay ME1 and the OP is definitely more consistent with the nose and eyes that show through the faceplate in the level up screen. The one they used does in the game not match the orginal at all.
Hell I argued constantly in the character threads how Tali could be humanoid, and still be quite alien due to what we already knew. Her face (cheekbones, eyes) are narrow, eyes are smaller, and other features I don't care to remember.
But hey, photoshop.

All I know is that it shattered my once unwavering faith in bioware's creativity. For two years now I have been staunchly praising bioware about their creativity when it comes to designing aliens, and how there is was nothing to worry about when it came to Tali's (and thus the quarian's) design.

Agreed Nash.
EA has sucked out BioWare's soul methinks.

If that's the case, we're in agreement. The Photoshop job was tacky and lazy. The fingers weren't even right.
But I actually like the design of the Quarians. Human-like face and torso, goat-like body. They remind me of Satyrs, without the horns, hooves and fur. That's cool.
If it was rendered properly instead of just photoshopped badly, I think people would be fine with it.

It seems your problem is more with the shoddy Photoshop job, rather than the design of the Quarians themselves.

I am also staunchly against adding any more rubber mask aliens (which hell, the quarians are more human than the asari, so "rubber mask" doesn't even cut it.) So the design does make me angry, or rather it would if I could even muster any more passion for anything bioware related right now.

I think they played it safe with Tali knowing that a drastically alien appearance could potentially turn off a lot of Talimancers and cause mass outrage. Then they got to work on that ending...
It was already established in the Tali thread that no everyone would be happy, and that no matter what happened a large vocal group would complain. I always just figured that bioware would go with what they would like, and I had thought
I was going to support them in that regard.
I don't, I can't. I MIGHT have been able to compartmentalize the human quarians, and just label it a design decision I am not happy with, but can live with. However combined with the pure laziness shown here in regards to tali... Well I just can't.
All I can hope for is for bioware to retcon this like the Dragon age team did with the Qunari.

Tail needs to look more like a cat and less like a human woman.
Especially in the eyes, nose and head structure.
