Sure, it wasn't comparable to Liara's romance,
Well you got that right. It wasn't comparable at all.

It's good to have alternatives, especially when they're better ones. All in all, I think Bioware did justice to Talimancers in ME3, stock photo thing aside, which I honestly can forgive. Bioware, just give us an ingame model for the DLC and we call it even.

It makes justice for the Quarians as a hole. They're aliens, not humans with funny markings people.

This
Reading is fundamental.
Thane is human-like. Asari are human-like. BW's photoshop effort IS human.

Actually, if you read well, it says their face and hair is the most similar to humans. Anything more human than an asari is practically a human. Which is what was delivered.
There is no conspiracy or scam here, other than the picture itself being a little lazy and cheap effort.

I hope this is the last time this needs to be quoted in this thread...
Quarians are generally shorter and of slighter build than humans. Quarians have an endoskeleton, lips, teeth, and two eyes with eyelids and tear ducts; they also have three thick fingers on both hands which include a thumb, an index finger, and a long finger, similar to the middle fingers for humans, as well as three toes on each foot. Quarian facial structure and hair actually makes them the most similar to humans in physical appearance. Their lower legs are bowed backwards significantly, compared to asari or humans. Aside from hands and legs, their general body shape and sexual dimorphism is similar to humans. Their ears or ear analogues differ in a noticeable fashion from those of humans, with references made to "what [passes] for the quarian version of an ear".

Wiki:

But the wiki is based on facts developed inside the game? I've never seen they describe Quarians as quasi-humans.

"It's on the Wiki, so it's true", and there's a large Edit button on the side. Figures...
All I see is laziness. Make such a rich race, looking as humans. Star Trek rubber-face all along.

I have read the wiki before, thanks. We obviously have different definitions of similar. Being similar does not mean being exactly like. Like I said. Drell are similar as are Asari. This is a complete cop out by BW to try please fans by making her all super model like.

Edit button aside, Bioware just gave you a picture of a quarian in ME3. I do not get what's so difficult to understand about "this is how the creators say quarians look, so it's how they look. End of story."
They gave me ME3 ending as well. I am not amused.

I think you can get a pretty good idea that they look pretty humanlike - at least regarding the face if you take a look at the things you can see through the visor.

From what I remember, this was supposed to be a placeholder.

Oh c'mon!
Placeholder or not - the facial structure looks humanlike - position of the eyes - form and size of the nose. Even if it's just a placeholder you/they can't just put a six-eyed being inside, just because you think that's cool and unhumanlike.
They were bound to look very close to the placeholder - which happened to look like a human with glowing eyes.

Even with these...restraints, they should've done better than they did, not just for Tali again, bur for the Quarians as a whole.
Their faces were a mistery, and now they are not; it was replaced by the sensation of laziness and disappointment, like the ending.

I think you are more disappointed with the effort they put into the quarian designs. I am too, believe me. While I don't see the picture they provided as horrible and wrong - still the simple fact that it's not more than a simple photoshop-job which took maybe about 2 hours is an insult to all the people who fell in love not only with Tali, but the quarians as a whole.
The picture itself is - regarding Tali's look acceptable. But the fact that she's uncovered sitting in some whool blanket on some planet...the picture being taken by someone else than her...well....
I guess like the rest...or rather ending of the game, it was not thought through... or no one really gave a damn.
So I agree with you that the picture itself, or rather the way of creating it, is not acceptable, but the design of the quarians itself is okay... not perfect, but looking back at the whole game - there are much deeper problems with it, than the quarian design.
