Well for starters If you're a mage it really emphasizes on how evil and bad blood magic is and it is taught by demons so why shouldn't it? Only evil mages turn to blood and the way it goes on about Blood Magic you think at least somone would notice you using it.

That's not my point. It's laughably weak and price-y in the game for all the bluster about it in the lore. I thought it was pretty cool to see Jowan use it in the mage intro, but when I checked out what you get as a player when you spec into it, I was disappointed.

If it was more powerful and attractive for more than just 'role-playing' reasons (and the fact that the other alternatives are kinda bad), then sure, make it have a huge impact. As it is now, I don't see the point.

Well 1 if it's not that good than you should at least get a good story out of picking that spec.

2.  Yeah it is actually did you even try it?  An AW /BM is LOL easy mode.

Blood magic isn't evil or solely taught by demons. It's taught to YOU by a demon, sure. But only because Jowan's too much of a wet blanket to teach you.

Thankfully the universal specialization unlocks allow me to go ahead as a blood mage with such a deal never happening, I'll just pretend I secrety learned it in the circle (you know, like all those other mages did) thank you very much.



Sure most of the blood mages you see in game are hostile, but then when you have a monolithic church entity treating them like scum, it's basically an inevitable consequence.

All specializations and classes should have a greater impact. As it is, no-one ever comments on your choice of specialization. No Templars comment on your techniques, no dwarves recognize the berserker glint in your eyes, no mage explodes in a fireball of blood and rainbows over being Spirit Healer/Blood Mage.

It really does seem like through some of the lore that they're hinting at it not guarenteed to be nearly as bad as it's made out to be by the chantry.

You can use the "I'm a Warden"-excuse, but lore-wise, if the Chantry found out that you're a Blood Mage, I think you'd be hunted down and killed. Warden or not.

Let me rephrase that than it comes from Demons as you learn in Wardens keep.  And no sorry if you're a blood mage you're evil even if you don't know it yet end of discussion.

You can't spec into forbidden magic that's taught by demons and be a good person at the same time.

The only daft thing about being a blood Mage is Wynne.



For example, during my first playthrough as a Blood Mage / Arcane Warrior, at one point where you're offered something involving Blood Magic:



Wynne: "This is Blood Magic! Surely you would not stoop to such a thing."

PC: "Umm, Wynne, I don't know if you've noticed, but i've been using Blood Magic since around level 10.

Wynne: "Wait... what?!?"

PC: "Yeah, you know the bit in combat where those guys chests stick out? Blood Magic."

Wynne: "That's easily missable..."

PC: "The glowing red blood aura around me when I run low on mana yet keep casting spells. Blood Magic.

Wynne: "Well... I have more important things to do than look at you in combat."

PC: "The sudden losses of health you get peroidically. That's me using your lifeforce."

Wynne: "What?!? I thought that was that spirit."

PC: "Infact Wynne, I don't know if you've noticed, but your second specialisation is Blood Mage... you yourself know Blood Magic.

Wynne: "Well... that certainly changes things."

Actually it's somewhat odd to me how a religion with a patriarchal deity manufactured a female messiah for itself, and only ordains female priests.

Is there any impact at all? With my templar, I got another dialogue option when I spoke to the blind templar in the alienage. I could say "I feel it too" and he would react on the fact that I was a templar. nothing more than that though.

That's a really silly comparison. Blood magic is simply a powerful tool. Nothing else. It's abusable, but so is anything that is powerful.

It's silly to thnik that summoning Demons and using peoples life energy to the point of killing them isn't evil.
