Wondering: why the hate for certain characters?

For example, i wasn't much of a fan of Grunt in ME2, as he was too trigger happy for my tastes. But after his mission in ME3, hes one me over.
On the other hand, Jacob. Although he wasn't in my heart, i did feel sorry for him over his family issues, and could understand why he joined Cerberus. But in my opinion, in ME3 he is his father. All that love and affection for my femshep, and for what? For him to go baking in somebody elses oven! No visit, no note, nothing. He left me to find out for myself! If theres one character i hope the reaps got, its him.

I don't get it, either. Being that Kaidan and Ashley are my two favorite squadmates, it does irk me at just how much hate they get, and for silly reasons (Ashley's overreligious and racist!!! Kaidan is a whiny Carth clone!!! They don't trust me!!!) when none of them are very validated or supported by facts.
I, myself, don't hate any of the characters. I dislike Jack and Zaeed's moral reasonings, I don't really care about Jacob, sometimes Tali annoys me, but none of these guys push me to the edge of wanting to throw them out of the airlock.
My best guess would be that some personalities just don't mesh. Every character has such a fleshed out, well developed personality that it's easy to see them as more than just characters (if that makes sense).

Though my old adversary, Grunt, completely redeemed himself by KEEPING MY SHEPARD'S GIANT SHOTGUN FOR HER.
He is now best.
I'm trying to hating Zaheed right now, but it's not working.

Science is showing hating Zaheed is difficult. I think I'll have to switch to hating someone else. I could hate Morinth, but talk about low hanging fruit....

I was secretly wishing that his approach was the right one to save the universe and that Shepard was doing it wrong all along...but unfortunately they played the lunatic card on him in the end. Can't blame them though.
Space kid is the only character I do hate.
For a being that controls the fate of the universe he's a ******.

In real life, I probably wouldn't like them too (at least in ME2, I think I would like Jack from ME3). But in games I love characters with flawed reasoning. Characters that make mistakes and characters that do sometimes things that I can't approve. It make them more real for me.
Also relationship with such characters is exciting experience because I can't experience it in real life and even in video games such characters are rare (which is sad).

I dislike both Kaidan and Ashley because they couldn't let go of their prejudice to help me in ME2. As simple as that. All that talk about loyalty, standing together, etc etc boiled down to "Shepard! You're in bed with the enemy, I'm taking my toys back. You can save the galaxy by yourself.""But I need you...""I don't know who you are anymore, so I'll pile a bit more angst on your plate. Good luck saving us all. And me incidentally."
I can't speak for Ashley, but I thought Kaidan's reaction was understandable, considering the things we saw Cerberus doing in ME1. Not to mention, when you meet him on Horizon he says something about how the Alliance was working under the assumption that Cerberus was behind the disappearances.
Yeah, he's still suspicious on Mars (understandable, imo, because he doesn't know what we know) but when you visit him in the hospital, he owns what happened on Horizon and admits that it was wrong of him to act that way and that he should have let you explain. I can understand the hate if he didn't admit that he was wrong, but he did, so I don't get it.
As for characters I hate, the only one is Wreav. I dislike him to the point that he ruined that part of the game for me and I can't wait to replay it with Wrex. I'll never do another non-import run (Wrex is alive in all of mine) because I know I'll get stuck with him. Not even to save Mordin.

There's something I really wonder: what makes you hating a certain character?
Won't expect any rational answers here, just keep it civil. No flame war or something. Just want to know why some people -HATE- one or more characters of the game.
I don't have a character in the series that deserves full blown hatred. Not even Kai Leng - his role is too small and not fleshed out enough if you ignore the novels.
And Udina? I dislike him, but "hate"? No idea. He's like a today politician. Career is more important than doing something - and if he's doing something, then it's usually supporting his career in one or another way.
Also I don't hate any character of the crew.
Now, what does make ppl hating certain characters?
You can't separate nerds from their rage.

My hates for Liara is just for what Walters did with her.
