..is my new favourite shotgun. The thing is insane. It hits like a freight train and its RoF is 200. As far as I am concerned, it is the best thing Batarians ever came up with

Since Vanguard should always keep Charge cooldown aroud 3s, burst damage is where it's at. The AT-12 Raider allows you to fire two powerful shots rapidly, start reload animation and once the rounds are ready, cancel the rest of the animation with Charge and repeat. The description says that this shotgun is meant only for short range combat, but with Smart Choke, it is very good at mid-range too.

Check out this very short video. I avoid Nova on purpose and demonstrate how much damage Raider can deal from mid-range too.

I prefer Scimitar myself because it can be loaded with 8 bullets. It does less damage of course, but it's useful when facing multiple weak enemies.

How many Scimitar shots can you fire between Charges? Weak enemies are killed in one Nova.

That said, Scimitar is a lot lighter so it allows you to carry extra weapon or two and still have low cooldown. I am glad I found the Raider though, having a lot of fun with that weapon.

Is the Raider a bonus weapon depending on where you bought ME3? I don't see it listed in the game guide. Thanks.

It's exclusive for Origin.

Drool.... darn nice Shotgun. T_T too bad I didnt pre-order through Origin and got an Assault Riffle instead.

From the damage I see, tis 2x as powerful (at least) as the Disciple. Took me about 7-8 shots to down the Harvester and I fired basically standing right under it >.<"

I have a new respect for Batarians, at least when it comes to their shotgun design. It's an excellent Vanguard shotgun - very nice replacement for the ME2 Claymore as far as I'm concerned. Vega wasn't kidding when he said "Hell of a kick. Can punch a hole through almost anything."

Good stuff.

Vanguard is way more fun without Nova.

AT-12 is a fun shotgun, still saddens me about the claymore in ME 3, hard to let go. From my perspective I agree, a non-nova vanguard is a lot more rewarding experience.

It was a pre-order bonus, but you can just add it manually with a savegame editor.

It's a nice shotgun that fires very fast for the two rounds you get, but the spread is pretty wide unless you use a mod slot for the choke. I tend to prefer the extended barrel for damage and bayonet for melee damage for my Vanguard.

AT-12 Raider is the perfect shotgun for me in ME3. It can deal insanely high effective burst damage between Charges (I think no other shotgun is close in this aspect). And it has decent range too. I am using the Shredder Mod for extra punch through armor and Smart Choke for tightening the pellet spread.

I still like to use Nova on occasion (but not too much as Nova tends to kill everything, stealing the kills from your shotty), especially against small stuff (the bugs Ravager spawns, husks etc.) or when I don't have any shots available. I recorded a longer video here.

@Kronner

Hey, could you do one on Banshees. I am interested to see how the Raider fare against Barriers. I find the Disciple strong against Shields/Barriers but weak against Armor. Just interested to see how fast the Raider can strip down a Banshee

T_T... Bioware should allow us to choose our pre-order bonus

OK, once I come across one, I will make sure to record it. I am curious about it too :)

Cool video. Raider is definitely viable. I prefer the Wraith myself can shoot twice before cloak is off/before charge is back like the Raider but it is lighter and more damage.

Thanks! Wraith was pretty good. I've been using it on my very first Vanguard run...until I got the Graal. Much better RoF and equal or better damage (depends on whether you charge up the Graal or not). Weight is irrelevant to me as I roll with Shotgun only anyway (something I wanted to do in ME2 as well).

I was not able to fire both Wraith shots between Charges consistently. Graal worked better for me, and Raider is even higher on my "favourite shotgun" list now.

AT-12 with a shredder mod is ideal for bashees, played around with it myself and the two fast shots means you can get in and unload before they kill you or do their nova thing. But I'll defer to the OP for a more definitive test, and some proof of course.

Raider is definitely one of the more effective shotguns for a Vanguard, but the Graal just feels like it has more "oomph". Kind of like the Claymore did in Mass Effect 2.

Yeah, I think Graal is objectively the best overall shotgun in the game due to its power, range and RoF. But Raider is somehow more fun for me, at the moment anyway.

Here is the Banshee video.

Great. An awesome weapon I can't use even though I must have Origin installed anyway.

I am tempted to use a savegame editor to add it if you can do that. But I know from experience that all hell breaks loose once I start modifying my saves. I just can't stop :)

Contact EA tech support via Live Chat, if you ask nicely, they will give you the code for free. I did just that and not only did they give me code for Raider, they threw in codes for N7 Warfare gear and Argus AR too - I already had them so I gave them to people  :D

I wouldn't mind gettingmy hands on the Raider. I wonder how well it would work with my CQC Infiltrator... I've been using the Eviscerator.

XD The Raider is brutal on those Banshees!

So, what did you tell em, EA I mean. I have the Argus... I just ask them nicely for the Raider code? :P
