The scene with Liara was arguably even better than ME1.

Also, Traynor is quite nice as well, though I still don't understand why we all have to wear underwear in the shower...

Off topic Great sig by the way. That line in my mind was just great adn really defined everything a krogan is.

About as interesting as comparing apples to oranges. Sex and nudity are, for most people, a private thing. Violence generally isn't.

On the other hand, violence is a repulsive and often evil thing. Nudity generally isn't (contrary to popular misconception).

Bioware keeps it tasteful, its a romance scene and dialogue. Not full on sex. If you want that go watch porn.

*facepalm* How many people are gonna make this stupid comment?

Nudity =/= porn
Nobody is asking for porno. Get that through your head.

When we can get less cigarettes around the ship (why are we smoking in a damn space ship in the first place?!) and more cigars at the poker table (yes my logic was just hypocritical, but at least it's better) then we can do that.

Also, the smoking man --- illusive man needs CIGARs not CIGARETTEs.

Sigh, so tired of the cliches.

TIM needs to get with the times.  An e-cig, NOT a real cig for TIM.  Technology, not archaeology.

It depends on who is nude.

Not every body is meant to be seen in the light in the full naked (shudder).

For all those blaming Fox for the lack of nudity in ME3, keep in mind that Liara (whom, as I understand, Fox took issue with) is exempt from the mandatory Alliance standard issue black bra and panties.

Do asari wear underwear?

Perhaps their standard issue is the same blue shade as their skin.

Turn on the TV, you'll hear about violence, you LIKELY won't hear about sex.

That largely depends on the time and channel. In Germany, after 12 P.M. every second advertisement break contains boobs and asks you to call some grandma to have phone sex with her.

Also worth point out that when people ask for nudity they aren't expected a closer up of Liara lay on the bed with her legs spread wide enough that you could explore her ovaries, no. This would be in simple context. Heck I'd prefer even having the lass wake up in a hoodie or a long t-shirt. Seriously who wakes up in their underwear after sex or has a shower in thei bra and panties? It's just an insult to your intelligence. Also if they were afraid of FFox they could just Liara it up, no need to see anything overly explicit but at least keep the realism to it. DA:O was the worst by far though...

I think it's partially because violence is expected in most video games, whereas nudity and sex isn't. That doesn't mean sex and nudity is bad, it just means it has more shock value given the medium.

If it was not against the board rules I would love to link you to certain... indie games... I have found via careful googling.

I was thinking more along the lines of Asari are a unisex race and therefore won't neccessarily look for any physically sexual features in a mate and rather a deeper, mutual bond. This would explain there capabliity to have sex with ANYTHING THAT MOVES. Also since they don't see one anotehr as sexual objects why wouldn't they not wear underwear? Sure they wear clothes but that's because of the intergalactic stuff, but honestly do they really need to wear underwear in their culture?

Isn't a link to Heavy Rain or LA Noire enough? Honestly nudity IN CONTEXT shuoldn't be a problem for our world. Truly shows the state of our society when we can ONLY see nudity in a game as porn in disguise.

They do it as a gift for human bondmates because they know that carefully undressing your partner is an important part of foreplay.

I'm currently involved in playing Medal of Honor: Modern Warfighter.  The violence is VERY realistic.  A .50 cal sniper rifle in game does to the game characters exactly what it does to people in real life (and is depicted so...look up Youtube videos on 'sniper' or 'sniper afghanistan' and you will see the real deal).  That is fine, of course, but a nipple in a game (unless it is a guy's) is verboten.

Exploding a head off realistically off a body = good and fine

Showing a side boob, a WOMAN'S nipple, showing a flash of pubic hair = worse thing in universe

Now, I'm OK with blowing heads off and all (I'm military, comes with the territory) but I'm ALSO OK with nudity.  A nude woman doesn't cause me to get the vapors, have a heartattack, explode, or anything else.

Just look at my previous post on how we should simply show that nudity does not equal beastiality porn.

Look at Witcher 2. This is how the game with rating M should handle nudity.

Nope cigars, because business leaders and rich people are always using cigars and if I have to watch someone smoke it better be something justifiably healthy and not full of chemicals.

A game with a rating M shouldn't have sex scenes then.

No it isnt because what I MEANT was that there are games where sex (and not only the normal kind) is the entire point in it. It may sound racist, but it is sadly true: Most of these are from asia.

Isn't ME3 rated Mature 17+ and correct me if I'm wrong but what about movies today that have sex scenes and are rated PG13.I'm sure if movies can get along with that why cant ME3?

I do wish bioware could be more mature about these things, but... its more of an issue of our whole society being immature about this not just bioware.

Besides, nudity isn't the most important thing about mass effect for me; I really could care less.

But Mass Effect isn't about sex. It's about a realistic sci fi experience through space magic. This is simply about a realistic sex scene. Something you are handed about 12 times in Heavy Rain and no one really flipped out, Sure there was slight backlash but nothng like Fox' 2007 reaction.

I'm not suggesting that showing nudity and sex is a bad thing.  I just think that, given the current state of commercial video games (indie titles are a different entity entirely), violence is consider par for the course, whereas sex and nudity isn't.

Anything that isn't the norm creates a certain amount of shock when seen.  Again, this doesn't mean it's bad, just different.

I will say one thing, however.  There are certain games (those dealing with sexual assault, rape, etc) originating Asia that I wouldn't ever want to see sold in North America.  I really don't see the need for a rape simulator and no, I'm not making that up.  There was one released in Japan called RapeLay.  I remember reading about it a few years ago and thinking, "WTF!?"

But it's only not considered norm because of media. If we saw the nude body or even just breasts in the frequency we see gunshot wounds then there would be no moral issue.

EDIT: And yes.... the Japanese have a whole world of issues going on from rape to slime to tentacles to schoolgirl sex. They are the definition of perverted.

One point: The Devs are not comfortable modeling peni-ses and breasts. Also incorporating Havok Physics into the parts. I know I wouldn't be comfortable.

Good points but this still gets traced back to the back bone of this argument

If you ain't gonna do it right don't do it at all. If you're gonna have sex scenes either make them realistic or leave them out of the game...
