I concur with abaris and giallomovie. I don't think anyone here was expecting hardcore pr0n, but having Ash in her bra after the act was ridiculous. Especially as you only see her from the back or from the shoulders upwards from that point onwards. It does smack of double-standards: Gore and swearing = ok. Partial nudity = BAD AND WRONG!

Considering what they got away with in The Witcher 2 (to name but a few), I'm surprised this still an issue in gaming, especially from a game which I would trust to handle the situation with the maturity it needs, rather than an attempt to rope in more young male gamers with "lololol Liara's b00bs lol". If you can show a dude's ****** in GTA 4: Liberty city stories, I fail to see how a little more skin in going to raise any more eyebrows. Maybe we have Fox to 'thank' for that, who knows?

In a game where you could get "Child Super Killer" perk, where bodies are being torn a part, and whole civilizations can be destroyed, where girls in skimpy clothing swear in every line, they can`t put a naked body, because that would be TOO MUCH.

Really?

And lol at that Specialist Traynor romance, that's just utter fail. Bathing in underwear, omg... I have`t romanced Liara or Garus, but will sure give it a try. I did try that reporter however, and there was nothing of it. I mean we kissed and that was it. Like nothing... i had to sleep alone and got a kid nightmare all over again.

Why does Bioware avoid nudity in the Mass Effect sequels. The games are clearly for adults and they have relationships at their core and a sex scene if you took the time to devellop the relationship. So why do they avoid the nudity or even partial nudity.

#1 The Fox News thing with ME1. It still lingers. It's what deprived us of having proper same-sex relationships in the first two ME games, and turned the DA2 sex scenes into, well, some sort of weirdo kinko pajama party. I'm still waiting for BW to say "Okay, now that you have same-sex in ME3, here are the patches for ME1 and ME2 for you to get it back!", yes I am.
#2 Ratings. Having full-on nudity gets the game a rating of R or, if the ESRB (may they rot in wherever their faith says they are supposed to rot) so wills, AO, which means the game will take a huge dip in sales in the US, will not be sold (or will be cut down) in Australia, Germany and several other countries. And will still be easily sold to minors in Russia, because out here, nobody gives a frak about age restrictions until it's time to talk about implementing state-wide censorship again.

Because of all that, Tali never got to get comfy with FemShep as was planned (and almost flat-out promised to us) in pre-production =(

Most certainly. It's always the same twisted logic from certain christian and conservative lobies. Nudity is very bad for the tender souls, but gore and violence is totally OK.

Not that I aspect porn or something, but showering with your cloths on is just a tiny bit ridiculous.

Thing is, they didn't even have to go down the nudity route. As has been pointed out, they could have just had Traynor shot from behind and from the wait up, or whatever.

I guess there's an argument that all the females that got their 'kit off' shared the same body model and the same underwear mesh, so having them just keep wearing it saved on having to render them without it.

Game devs are ****** and Christians are annoying. That's about the long and short of it.

I would have loved *any* kind of final scene with Jack. I thought I'd missed something until I checked the t'interweb.

Because most people are adults and don't need to see breasts and penises (peni?) for them to know what's going on.

Do you remember how the Broodmother in DA:O made it M for mature?
Well, i'm afraid that the Banshees used up all of Bioware's nudity currency for ME3... it's sad, but true.

Isn't it mainly because of the game's rating in USA? If nudity are included it goes to PG18 or something (though extreme violence is fine at PG16).
Note: Not sure if those terms are used 100% correctly as I'm not american myself.

And regarding the Fox News thing I honestly think Bioware doesn't care about them anymore. If they did, they wouldn't have included same sex relationships since Fox is fanatical on that point.

But I do agree, it can be done more "artful" than it was, the Liara scene is a perfect example of that. Personally I don't need to see nudity in video games to the extend that Witcher 2 goes to. I don't mind it, but I have no specific need for it, since Google easily can provide enough there :-)

It's kinda fun to think of that if you were to provide a first person view of a randoms persons life it would be probably be outlawed in a dozen countries and x rated in the rest.

Americans don't use PEGI, they use a different system. Mass Effect 3 has basically the highest one they do (Mature), the same as ME1.

And you're right about Fox News. People just like scapegoats they can blame for everything.

And, I agree with your last paragraph too.

Most people have noticed Bioware getting less and less controversial with each and every game.

Best possible example in ME3?

Jack saying "screw you" most of the time and the one time she's going to say what Jack WOULD say you get a fade to black.

Even a single swear word is off-limits now.

Ashley isn't much better.  Sex in a bra, then afterwards you wake in the morning and...Ash is still there, having slept all night in her bra!

That has got to be the most comfortable bra in the universe that this chick doesn't take the first opportunity to get that thing off.  To SLEEP in it too...

The Witcher 2 is the perfect example on how to do sex scenes in a video game. Bioware could've learned a thing or two from CD Projekt RED.

Yeah, I'm not looking for full frontal nudity in my games (not looking to avoid it, either, to be honest.) When I see someone in the shower, though, with clothes on... that's just stupid. Mass Effect 1 achieved perfection in showing tasteful romance in-game, and everything subsequent has fallen short, sadly.

I really worry about my country's culture, when I consider that my fellow Americans are fine with seeing horrific dead bodies on the news and blood and guts all over their fiction, but the idea of seeing a woman's nipple drives them into fits of hysterics. There seems to be no thought whatsoever behind popular morality.
