... Legato... your rank doesn't impact how many credits you've earned, does it? I'm ranked about 138 right now because I don't promote my characters. All but two of them are level 20.

It doesn't but it does show that you've most likely spent more time on the game.
When I see someone locked at rank 120 or 150. I know they promoted once and refuse to promote anyone else.
I was simply stating the point that when I am rank 500+ it shows how much time I've put in rather than someone rocking a 120.

I'd much rather rock a lvl1 in Silver and a lvl14 in Gold :) promote is fun for the score addicted players that give it their all to use weapons because they got one  skill to use hahaha and still come out as 1st. Good times

Unless the Yankees play bots all season, then yes I would have a problem with it. That's the point you people are missing. If it doesn't affect anybody else, don't worry about it. Who is it going to hurt? The bots?

"But the mp experience is ruined by all the uber cool X weapons"

Guess what? Weapons aren't everything. Biotic Combos anybody? Those are way more useful than any weapon in mp at any level.

I, personally, don't feel any bad feelings towards cheaters because I feel like the game is cheating me |=.... The unlock system sucks and the enemies are too powerful. These 2 things make the game not fun, and therefore not worth my time. I've hardly been playing ME3 since they nerfed my favorite class and made them useless.

Thanks, BioWare.

When I am level 623 and have gotten so many character cards it is ridiculous and ****ing 48 count it FOURTY ****ING EIGHT RESET POWER CARDS!

Sense the start of buying my first pack!

The only n7 weapons I have are the black widow 1 and the wraith 2

Also I have gotten 300k credits stolen from that stupid bug

So yes I will use this exploit the keyword being use, not overuse as that will ruin the game for me.
FOURTY EIGHT RESET CARDS!
I didn't get to lvl 623 for nothing I want a saber and paladin but no I get FOURTY

Eight reset cards something is wrong with their unlock system!

Also I still don't have the widow!

And I get crap tons of character cards that I have all the customizations for!
So yes if I join a group exploiting I will happily stay because I don't know how to do it myself!

If that's true then why not just get rid of the bug and leave it that? Again, my point is still the same. I say leave it for them. Its not harming sales nor is it harming anyone in multiplayer. If it was PvP I would understand, but it doesn't.

All the players might feel the same way, but unfortunately EA are the ones who decide whether or not to enforce the rules. Did you hear about this little incident?

News article here.

Oh BW will consider this glitch cheating, but not because it ruins the economy (one that doesn't exist in ME3) but because it hurts their bottom line.  If you can get credits easy wheather via legit means or via this glitch, it means you will be less likely to use real money to buy packs.

A real economy consists of credits and goods exchanging hands, like in an auction house or marketplace.  That doesn't happen between players here.  If it did then I'd be much more upset about this glitch, because those using it have much more control over supply.  But that isn't the case.  My credits and my items just stay in my locker gathering virtual dust.

It never was a question of right or wrong, or if it affects gameplay (hint: it doesn't) but how it hurts BW's profits.  That's it.

You hit the nail on the head here. There are two factors, as I see it:

1) As you pointed out above, since EA designed the game with an ancillary profit stream built in (in the form of using M$ points for item acquisition instead of credits) - any exploit that negates this mechanic is going to reduce the profitability of the game beyond initial sales.

2) EA/Bioware is banking on the long-term replay appeal of the game by adding multiplayer (How many people do you think replayed Mass Effect 2 obsessively? Probably not that many - maybe to try different classes, or when DLC was released). An exploit that negates the character/item progression model that they built is going to significantly reduce the replay appeal of the game. I mean, after you have maxed *everything* out, how long do you really plan to continue playing a game with no PvP?

Also, take into account that potential players (who may, or may not purchase equipment packs with cold hard currency) may be put off playing if they feel that the playing field is unbalanced: What incentive do they have to put time and effort into character and item progression if a large number of the existing player base just skipped to the end game? It's analogous to me jumping into an established WOW server at this stage in the game's lifecyle: If I am a powergamer, where is the appeal if 90% of the server base has maxed their level and done and seen every iota of content in the game?

I will be very surprised if Bioware (or more likely, EA) does not impart some form of punitive action against at least the most obvious offenders, as it harms the long-term viability of their game, as well as eating into their profit margins, and - perhaps more importantly, for a publicly traded company - their shareholder's profits.

The relock bug has been fixed, except in very, extremely rare cases. The only thing taking time now is figuring out what everyone had when it was locked. A lot of people were affected by this and you can NOT expect them to fix it in five seconds.

I understand that EA might have money to make from the in-game store, but to be honest, we already shell a lot of cash out as it is. As much as I understand that they'll be banning people who abuse the exploit, I don't sympathize with a company who decides to crack down on gamers just because they aren't playing the way the company wants them to. The reward system is randomized as it is. I'm aware of someone who abused the exploit to buy himself a couple dozen spectre packs - he still doesn't have a Black Widow. Not to say that he's entitled to a Black Widow, but I think I can understand his frustration.

Cheating is a crutch. I understand what you are trying to get at OP. But people abuse this cheat way too much that it doesn't even justify what you are saying. I seen someone get over a million credits from this cheat. That seems very excessive, no?

Playing legit ftl.

It's important to understand that I'm only advocating using the exploit to get back what players lost to the other bug. It works as a balance.

Except that it does not.  It is still cheating in every sense of the word.  While Bioware still owes it to their community to provide the affected players with compensation for their issues, any player caught exploiting this glitch has violated the TOS and should be banned or reset.  Two wrongs do not make a right.

I have experienced that no purchase bug many many many times. But in every instance I waited for a minute or so and my credits has always refunded. Not lost a single thing in ME3 since release.

When I want to buy something, swap out chars/weapons, and or spend points on powers: I leave game lobby first. Always works for me.

Anyways claimin using sploits and cheats to counter a bug seems like a pretty lame excuse. Sorry man, I will never ever justify or support online cheaters in any shape or form. You want to cheat? Go play SP games instead and quit ruining online games for others who play legit, thanks!

How others doing credit hacking impacts your play experience, a short dialogue:

Black Widow X Infiltrator: "Oh man, I did this credit glitch and got a Black Widow X, all you noobs are going to be below my score ah haha"

Human Sentinels 1 & 2 "Uhhh, ok bro whatever you say..."

30 minutes later...

Black Widow X Infiltrator: "This game is so lame, I have the best sniper in the game fully upgraded and I can't keep up with 2 basic unlocked classes spamming biotics. Screw this."

Human Sentinels 1 & 2: "Lulz"

And if you don't like playing human sentinel, but instead prefer playing a Salarian Infiltrator, but with a Black Widow II, then you're screwed.

If you're going to play the same class as someone else, one of you will inevitably be better than the other, but it's not dependent on their equipment. Your effectiveness isn't determined by what weapons you've got. If you can play as a team, fantastic - if I'm on your team I'll generally help you out too. If you can't work with others, then I won't bother rezzing you when you charge into a crowd of Brutes and Ravagers.

Really? You don't think it'll depend on equipment? I gotta say I completely disagree. Upgraded weapons do more damage, have more ammo and have lower weight. So he's cloaking sooner, ED'ing more and firing more shots.

Its not about team-play. I'm happy to come last on the scoreboard if it means we get a full extract and I've helped. Its about an unfair advantage gained on the field of battle...by cheating.

Honestly, its pointless arguing with you people. I've made my point, I'm done with this thread. I hope BW drop the banhammer on the cheaters soon. That is all.

Because 8 levels makes all the difference when guns 1 shot enemies regardless.

How does cheating affect other players in a Co-op style game mode?

The bug I described doesn't. It's just an easy way to earn credits. Credits which, I point out, have been lost to many players and which nobody else seems to care about anyway.

Moral****s will never understand this.

Advantage over whom? The enemies? Why should it matter to you if another player - a complete stranger no less, is getting more kills than you?

An advantage is defined as being in a favorable position; it does not need to be comparative in any manner.  As a result, exploiting this glitch provides an advantage (or favorable position) by allowing those players to gain a large amount of credits or items from those credits.

Christ, this is still going on? Let's put it this way:

You get hit by the relock bug/lose a bunch of credits/Bioware Points to the purchase bug:
- Best case scenario: Bioware fixes the bugs, refunds credits/points/items (if Bioware kept logs of inventories).
- Most likely scenario: Bioware fixes the bugs, does not refund credits or items, refunds points.
- Worst case scenario: Bioware does nothing.

You cheat/exploit to earn more credits than you normally would in order to compensate yourself for your losses:
- Best case scenario: Bioware takes a couple of months to notice, you get banned.
- Most likely scenario: Bioware takes notice the moment a random player reports you, you get banned.
- Worst case scenario: Bioware keeps an eye out for exploits because of threads like this one, you get banned.

It's not about morality, it's about risks, and what you're advocating simply puts others at risk. At least you have some chance if you leave it to Bioware to sort out.
