Ah, yes, "Cheating"

We have dismissed that claim.
But in all seriousness, the document itself says that it's up to them to decide. I've heard an instance of someone having credits appear in their account, reporting it, and then being banned as a result. If they hand out bans because they think people have more credits than they should, then EA are only hurting themselves.

How does Star Wars equal Mass Effect? lol I understand EA is like that for Star Wars but take out a bug instead of keeping it there. Problem solved
Well Star Wars and ME are both developed by EA Bioware and we're also talking about a glitch/exploit that is in the game. You missed my point though. They hand out sanctions as they see fit and they expect us not to exploit game design flaws. They should fix that bug, for sure, but we don't know if they are working on it or if they even will work on it at all.
In this case it's clearly an exploit. If people willingly spam credits at themselves like this then surely they can't be surprised if EA turns around, basks them in the gaze of their one giant, red, omnipotent eye and says, 'We told you not to do that. Good bye.'

Of course it is. Here I am grinding honestly for the best gear and bam people around me are on another level thanks to cheating, making the game less fun for me personally.
Good to see SWTOR bans for this kind of stuff, hope to see it in ME MP soon.

So you lose items and use the glitch to buy a bunch of packs and only make back half of your stuff. I'd say you would have rather not lost your stuff to begin with rather than play the same wave over and over again.Raging Nug wrote...
It would be if they spoke up more often. As it is, with three weeks and no word on anything, I don't feel worried for people who are exploiting this bug. I 'do' feel for those who have lost their items, myself included, but on the whole this is just bad customer service. :

Like I said a while ago, this is a nice little balance.
If people lose credits or items, they can earn them back if they need to. I haven't done this, as I wasn't even aware of the glitch until a few days ago, but if I'd known earlier, I might have done it just to get back what I felt I'd earned.

People kick others for having inferior gear and now we have people complaining that everyone else's gear is too good so they must have cheated.
Hey I got a black widow, you calling me a cheater?
This is a co-op game for crying out loud.
Here's a solution: everyone in the lobby uses a phalanx V. Happy now?

I'm not glad to see TOR ban for the reasons stated in the post I linked. If the zone is recommended for lvl 50s and a lvl 40 manages to make their way through mobs to grab themselves some loot, why would you punish them? Why aren't there systems in place to prevent this from being a problem in the first place? Bind on pickup loot, minimum levels for acquiring quests, stronger monsters guarding stray tresures, etc. etc. are all common ways of preventing players from going/doing things they're not meant to.

Whether you consider exploiting a bug to earn credits as cheating or not doesn't really matter. What matters is that Veteran and Spectre packs can be purchased with real money, and given that EA is one of the leaders of crying about "losses" to piracy (honestly, I'm of the opinion that if someone pirates, they're not going to buy it anyway, and it doesn't help the entertainment industries tend to skew the piracy numbers by overcharging their products in third world countries then parading these numbers without any context), you can pretty much bet they view any attempt to invalidate the option to buy packs with Bioware Points as a form of "theft".
If a group wants to take that risk and exploit for credits, that's their prerogative. If I wind up in a PUG with a cheater or exploiter who is doing it without me agreeing to it and, as a result, is putting my account at risk of being banned? I'm reporting that, regardless of how much I hate the random nature of packs or how much I sympathize with people who have lost items/credits.

I did mention it, and why that is the only reason BW will crack down on this. They don't care if it is justified or how it affects gameplay. All they care about is their profits. The players using this "cheat" barely benefit from it sue to the very random nature of packs.
IMO it's not worth the risk. You risk your account for what usually ends up to be a dissappointing yeild.

Now, a full team of four players who 'all' have a Black Widow X, that's suspicious, but still within reason. A Black Widow XI is impossible and if someone has it they need to be banned immediately.

But, yes, considering that being banned from MP currently also bans you from accessing your DLCs (thanks for the oversight again, EA), it really isn't worth it at all. Also given how both Origin and the MP are essentially beta tests, I wish they just didn't offer the option to use Bioware Points at all so we don't have to worry about being banned for incidental cheating.

To be fair the RNG is rather terrible. You hear people complaining about getting five to seven of the same weapons/cards in a row (usually the ones they don't want, hence the complaining), so I honestly can't rule out the Black Widow dropping for someone multiple times in a row - and from there slowly working their way up to X.Diablerist666 wrote...

My understanding was that people were exploiting a glitch in the gameplay to do so, not doing it legitimately, and continued to do so after being asked to stop. That's just rank stupidity and deserves to be punished.
As for people accusing me of jealousy...well sort of the point I guess. I haven't got an asari adept or black widow yet and I keep playing gold games legitimately to earn the credits to get them. So if someone tells me they got theirs by cheating, I'm not going stand there and nod and let them have their way am I? That makes me feel like my whole experience has been invalid.
Play the game the way its meant to be played. Otherwise I hope you are banned. Simple

I think part of the problem is that there's absolutely no way to know how someone got a weapon. If someone has a Black Widow X, there's a chance, however remote, that they got it legitimately. After three weeks, it's plausible that 'someone' out there has one.

Agreed, I'm not going to report someone simply for having a BWX. That doesn't stop me from hoping BioWare ban people for exploiting this credit glitch.

Honestly if you think about it, if something like this is considered cheating and therefore a ban-able offense, wouldn't everyone who's every played a charge-> half nova vanguard also be at risk for a ban? After all, taking advantage of invulnerability frames from the Nova animations to become basically un-killable sounds like an unintended use of in-game mechanics to me....And it's obviously unfair to the other vanguards who took a different evolution.

No it's not. I have a lot of buddies on Origin (who are great players and play a LOT) and none of them have an UltraRare Weapon beyond Level IV. I got an N7 of 500+, played MP since release, haven't touched SP. Got all of them except Black Widow. Javelin II, the rest at level I.
Now, If any of you have an N7 weapon level X acquired legitimately please do speak up. We'd love to hear how much time and money it took...
No takers? I thought so...
