I haven't been hearing the things others in the thread have, but those noises at 3:20-3:46 weirdly grossed me out.

Like I sad earlier, I have the luxury of moderately nice earbuds, and the capacity to play them loudly. Here is what I heard.

Definitely "help me".... EDIT: Nope, it's the "You can't help me" from the opening sequence

"Leave us alone!", very clearly

"We're out of time!" is what I could barely make out. Could be "They're all dying".... EDIT: Yep, it's fairly clearly "Everyone is dying" from the opening sequence

There is something during the reaper voice. At least one word said, but I can't make it out. Then many more words.

Noises at 2:45-3:00 sounds like Rachni to me, not reaper

During the reaper sounds at 3:20-3:46, there is a definite "Shepard"

these are really creepy sounds >_< some of them sound very much like words slowed down and played backwards. May be they actually are parts of some ordinary phrases we can hear in the game, with some audio filters applied to make 'em sound creepy. Reused material, in other words.

 There is a tone, like a sharp hum-esque noise, between 1:00-2:00 that sounds exactly like Harbinger's tone of voice, but more of a "huuUM!"

I don;t agree nor disagree with the whole indoc thing, but I immediately recognised Harbinger's tone in there. I hear it all the time, he's my windows sound theme lol

Also, the incredibly ****ing creepy noises at 3:00 sound like somebody menacingly laughing and saying "Shepar-" over and over.

If this is what it's like to be slowly indoctrinated, then it's damn creepy.

I, for one, heard nothing at all, I think it's just gibberish there, like a generic "choir" sequences in soundtracks. However it begs to be extracted and analised, that's for sure.

Honestly, I, for one, dont think dream sequences werw put for some trivial stuff. Constant 'whispers', increasing numbers of 'oily shadows' definitely are there for sone major "speculations".

Not to mention crew members, except Tali and Garrus, constantlu worrying abt your stress level and doubtibg who you really are....

Thread's a bit long now, but I'm pretty sure one of the sound guys did try to play it backwards and the results he reported were less intelligible, not more.

I don't think there's a hidden message- other than "the closer you get to the kid, the more creepy and reaper like noises get", and some subliminal words that are so distorted it's hard to make them out. You can conclude shep's dream is a nightmare and he is slowly becoming unbalanced. Or you can conclude that he is fighting indoctrination in his sleep, and parts of his subconsious are trying to warn him.

Notice when he wakes up, in his bed, the camera angle and lighting really emphasizes the "red" parts of his quarters. The Normandy this time round is a thing of contrasts, modern human blue contrasting with some very wiry, very red areas. A deliberate design choice no doubt.

This thread may be beyond reanimation, but someone's gone and posted some of the soundfiles in the dream, clearly some of them are reaper sounds.

Man, after reading some of the posts, watching the dream video without the music (VERY creepy!) and watching the Arrival video about the guard being indoctrinated. This makes me think that the indoctrinated theory is right all along. If Bioware planned this...wow.

I think what Bioware planned was for (some) players to interpret the game as involving an element of Shepard fighting indoctrination. From the very first shot of the game - a ship flying accompanied by the right sounds, only to realise that the godchild is in fact controlling and playing with the plane - Bioware tried to sow the seeds of mistrust, or at least leave the interpretation open on re-examination. The godchild's IRL appearances can thus be interpreted, and the dreams are part of that, through to the section of the game where shep is uploaded into the geth consensus, and the final sequence after the harbinger dream. It's all deliberately ambiguous. It was meant, I'm sure, for the ending to make sense at face value, and obviously the fans' reaction proves that wrong. But for fans of IT to fall back on the theory as "THE TRUE ENDING" is misconceived- it is only an interpretation. But a valid and persuasive one nonetheless. What will the next Bioshock game run with? Who knows. They'll probably leave it deliberately vague. To spin another yarn, or a few.

This completely nullifies all of you nay-sayers that say my brain tricked itself into hearing things. Several people including myself enjoy exploring the game world looking for clues. One area of particular interest to me is the dream world Shepard finds himself in after a few missions within the game. This world is populated with tall black whisps that you can hear whispering things you cannot understand, or can you?

Here we will discuss anything we find important within the dreams that may lead to proving the theory that Commander Shepard may be Indoctrinated or influenced in some way by the reapers.

Here are my initial findings:

Okay, I'm in one of the godchild dreams right now. I decided to walk
into a group of the shadow figures to see if they said anything. I
could hear them whispering. I swear to god I heard them say "don't trust
him", this peaked my interest, I know that I didn't imagine that so I decided to explore further. Moving into other groups I heard more and more voices speak up above the whispering, things like "Get back commander" , "Someone outside is coming" (when I got
close to the boy), "SHEPARD! (really loud elderly male voice), every
time I got in a group of the whisps. The most staggering thing I heard was "Stay away from him, trust
yourself" as I got closer to the child (that one sent chills up my spine)

     - this video spends quite a bit of time in the Dream world, turn up your audio or put some good headphones on an you will hear quite a bit. Go to pages 17-18 of this thread to see the time stamps people have discovered strange voices in.

On another note, has anyone
noticed that the whisps almost blockade the boy? Like they don't want
you near him? How about how the got louder and angrier as the whispered
when you approached him. This is analagous to how the body reacts to harmful foreign bodies I.E. White blood-cells and viruses/bacteria

I decided to write this as I played so I
wouldn't forget anything. The dialogue of the whisps needs to be
analyzed further, there's something important hidden in their speech, I
just know it.

Feel free to adress any aditional clues you discover below.

Edit:: We are not discussing the voices of dead crewmates you hear, those are meant to be heard and seen by subtitles. This thread is for discussing the noises and voices we found by exploring the dream world.

Finally, this is a friendly and constructive thread. We are all here by free-will. If you have counter-evidence, please share it. If you feel like coming on here just to be a douche, please move along.



Aditional discoveries by other users::
.Standing close to the child without triggering him slowly reveals a synthetic sound/voice which if listened to long enough may sound similar to either "Don't trust him", "Just kill him", Or "Just shoot him" it is currently unclear which it may be if any---confirmation requested

. Dialogue from Thane may be heard from either sex incarnation of Shepard irregardless of whether Thane was romanced at all

."Stop dreaming" has been heard by several users, a new development

.The child can be seen holding the toy ship in the first dream but not the second or third. -confirmed by Byne

This is creepy. It's new to me so I checked the video.
since the 08:01 mark there is a clear voice saying "stop him, quickly".
this line is repeated every 10 seconds or so.
