Yeah, she was admittedly kind of annoying on Thessia. "Oh, my homeworld! Shepard it's terrible!" Yup, sure is. "IT"S JUST AWFUL!"  I know. "SHEPARD, WE-"  I KNOW!!!!!! I wanted to punch her. I just watched earth and her fleets get torched. I get it. It sucks. Move on.

That, and how she reacts about the banshees. Um, the humans have been dealing with husks since ME1.

There's something that a lot of people seem to be missing here.

Liara isn't Garrus.
I know its surprising to me too - I mean they look so much a like and everything, but its true - they're two completely different characters who deal with stress and tragedy in their own ways. Who'd have thought?

Liara is not a hardened soldier like most other people in your squad. Garrus, James, Shepard, and Ashley or Kaiden are all career soldiers and fighters. Liara is really just a civilian asari.

This.

Liara, and the asari in general, are not as 'hardened' as the other squadmates and races.

because Liara and Garrus are the best characters in the game.

Liara's not a soldier, she's a glorified civilian. She's not used to the amount of death that everyone else is. She's not prepared, I also thought she was being used as a metaphor for the Asari in general, how the defeat completely crushed their spirits.

Tali isn't a soldier too if i remember.

Tali's an admiral, part of the ruling martial body of the Quarians. She's seen combat and lead a team on Halstrom in ME2.

Tali's a soldier.

Thessia was TAKEN, unlike Earth and Palaven.

What do you mean unlike Earth?
That there's a resistance on Earth doesn't change the fact that it fell hard and is currently Reaper property. Only Palaven is different.

im pretty sure the game at least implies that there's no resistance at all left on Thessia. It went completely dark.

Earth WAS taken. You help RE-take part of London so you can get to the Citadel. The codex entry even says "The Fall of Earth".

I'm sorry, but I jumped everytime they showed up in ME2.

The other thing is that Shepard automatically gets angry with Joker when he makes that joke about the asari after Thessia, too. Shepard could have purposefully screwed over the krogan and killed off the quarians, yet he/she automatically loves the asari and is upset if someone cracks a joke about them? What is that about?

And she reacts to the extinction of her species with so much more stoicism and poise that Liara does about that whole Thessia thing ...

I find that ridiculous.
Earth can form a resistance with a bunch of teachers and farmers, and people who can flay you alive at 20 paces with their minds just flat out die instantly?

You also have to account for Liara being under more pressure than anyone on the crew besides Shepard. She's the one who's been working on contingency plans (the time capsule), she's still running the Shadow Broker network, has agents of her own to command, probably doesn't sleep much. Having her homeworld intact might have been about the only consolation she still had.  And then it fell to the Reapers.   That's a lot to have on her plate.

Exactly. She says something to the effect of "I can't deal with what they've done to them." ****, please.

Don't forget her life's work was reduced to nothing because the Asari had a RARE Prothean beacon kept there for their entire civilisation.

Hell, they could've stopped the entire cycle if they'd investigated that beacon properly and shared (Eden Prime started the plot of ME remember?) but instead her race damned themselves and the galaxy by not sharing knowledge.

I can't blame her, Shepard spent the whole game "whining" over some kid she'd never met ;)

they were annoying but they fell apart anytime someone touched them in ME2. The Banshees are practically game breaking. They legitimately terrify me. On Horizon I had Liara in my squad and when one of the Banshees behind the glass in the lab shrieked I freaked out and actually shot liara before I realized where it had come from. I actually commited suicide once on an MP map when a banshee got too close to me once..

I probably wouldn't make a good soldier.

She was a engineer in ME1 and 2, a "politician" in ME3. For me she's not a soldier with the training and the spirit like Garrus or Wrex have.

I'm pretty sure it was also said that the reaper hit them particularly hard because they knew they'd pose a threat with their biotic powers.

Husks just don't seem terrible anymore because the shock's worn off. We've been dealing with them (as players) since ME1. They'd still be extremely nightmarish in real life, I would think.

Oh don't get me wrong, they terrify me too  that was not my point, I was talking about Liara's reaction to them. She acts like it was unprecedented. But the crew has already dealt with husks, cannibals, and marauders at this point. Yeah, it sucks to see what asari become, but it applies to every species.
