Well, if BioWare still has some sense, they'll at least consider this as a replacement ending. Even though they stated they wouldn't do such a thing.

If only Bioware would take the best of the best fan endings like this one and make them into alternative endings that could be put together as part of a "Fan ending" DLC. (No idea what such a DLC would be called)
A DLC like this might be perfect for Bioware as they keep their "Artistic integrity" as they, and people will know that these are not the official endings. They also get fan love for making new endings and show that they really do take fan responses seriously.

The solution to this is obvious:
1.) Admit what went wrong and why, even if that admission is that they did it on purpose and they miscalculated the fanbase response.

2.) Use the Indoctrination Theory as springboard for a new ending, starting at the point where Shepard takes a breath in the Perfect Destroy ending.

3.) Keep the fanbase appraised of the ending DLC's progress, to make sure it appeals to the widest range as possible (within reason, I'd be satisfied with a Paragon Ending, a Renegade Ending, a Neutral/basic ending, and a comprehensive epilogue). Like in my idea, having a memorial service with Hackett/Anderson's speech being overlaid with in-engine cutscenes is feasible, and was done in the game when Hackett addressed the fleet.

4.) At the very least, redraw Tali's picture, if not render a head for her. I'd recommend a contest for the fanbase to draw one and either be voted on or selected and announced. Worked for the PPG Movie, why not here?

This, while a little sugar-coated, is vastly superior to what we got. Could be a little to happy-go-lucky. I still believe that in order for Sherpard to live you have to do pretty much everything right. Otherwise it's a heroic sacrifice for Shep

As I've said before, this is a framework for a perfect, mostly paragon ending. Make adjustments for failures to add bitterness.

ok I'm working on rewriting the ending to take into account suggestions that have been made, as well as inaccuracies I made due to lapses in my lore knowledge. Stay Tuned!

Bump!

However I still have doubts Bioware will take anything on this in account :-( I am starting to be more afraid what "new ending supporting artistic integrity" turns out to be. Bioware, do you reading anything of this?

Bump, makes a lot more sense than the actual ending. Bioware, you would be silly to not make the Extended Cut DLC without taking any fan ideas like this into consideration.

i reread it just to see if there was anything i see that might help as most people keep stating the rachni bit  seems a little rushed. . . . perhaps you could add into one of the cutscenes perhaps just before the TIM fight showing the rachni fighting something on the outside of the citadel maybe reaper rachni (directly on top of you and TIM). .  . you could have Tim/Harbinger cracking some sort of joke about how even when you work together you cannot match our power. .  meaning it woudlnt look so wierd when she turns up afterwards and delivers some devine retribution. . lol

i'm still thinking if theres anything else that i would add in . . Image IPB

Not bad at all really, I like the idea of leaving the door open for more game in the ME universe with this ending.  But we already know they aren't going to go this far with the DLC so as much as I like this I can't let it get my hopes up.

UPDATE 4/1/12
Just pasting some explanation for why I think Harbinger is the guiding intelligence for the Reapers, or cult leader, if you will.
Based on what I've experienced, Harbinger is the onl y Reaper who has attempted to justify his actions in any way, this is especially true if you have listened to his unused dialogue in ME2.

I guess the Destroyer on Rannoch was just rambling while it waited to die.

Also that sounds like more of Harbinger's arrogant boasting than defending.

Also to be clear, there's nothing in ME2 or 3 that implies that Harbinger is the head reaper. He was the one assigned to control the Collectors the same way Sovereign was assigned to be the vanguard who opens the relay to dark space.

The fact that he looks a little different is irrelevant. If you listen to EDI, all capital reapers have unique designs under the hood. It's the destroyers that have similarities.

I liken the Destroyers, and other large Reapers aside from Harbinger, as cult members who are repeating the mantras of their society. It's the only truth it knew.

Its weird to think we came up with these ideas, that are better then Biowares. I was kind've hoping war assets would come into it more, like attacks failing or not cut scenes changing then because of it but apparently Bioware thought differently. Anyways.

My main idea was, why not do all those good things above, with special cut scenes depending on war assets and whether certain people survived. Then have a final cut scene, it looking all bad and every ship or person is being over run including Shepard, slowly being hurt more and more, then a miraculous thing happens...

When the Crucible fires, it shows the galaxy view, then reapers being hit over earth and what not. INSTEAD extend that to show all the reapers being torn apart. To find some sort of skeleton underneath that's made up of DNA from all the races they've fed on...

Then all that combined DNA turns "Paragon" blue or "Renegade" red depending on your play through and it turns all the Reapers against each other.

A final scene showing Harbinger being betrayed by his own kind would be the biggest ironic moment in ME history!
Our fallen comrades DNA indoctrinated the lesser Reapers long enough to have them severly damage or kill one another. Leaving the remaining united forces to mop up the mess! In a very heroic style!
