Actually, I've just thought of something...

I'm glad these cupcakes went to these kids. I'm sure it brightened their day. Very nice message, very hopeful and caring. But now I have to ask, Bioware...

I'm sure a lot of these kids aren't old enough to play Mass Effect just yet, but let's say for a moment they were.

With how dark and depressing the ending(s) are for ME3, do you think these kids that have such hard lots in life would feel better after playing through your trilogy, or worse?

The gesture certainly gained our attention both with its creativity and deliciousness. However, while we do appreciate that fans were creative in how they expressed their views, after a lot of discussion, we decided ultimately the reason that they were sent was not done in the context of celebrating the work or accomplishment of the Mass Effect 3 team. This is a subtle, but important aspect in determining how to pass the feedback to the team.

So... you rejected the choices presented to you in favor of a much happier ending? That sounds like something I can get behind!

I'm happy some kids got cupcakes, and at the humor in Bioware rejecting the very choice they presented us. Ignore the three colors and go for a happy ending, MUST BE NICE BIOWARE. That's exactly what we want.

I still wonder what the kids had to say about that, I'm sure they were wondering why all the cupcakes had A, B, and C on them. I'd love to have heard the explanation behind that one.

I would guess a reasonable number of the kids might know about mass effect seeing as the youth emergency shelter in Edmonton (if that is where the cupcakes went) caters mid to late teens.

Bioware rejected their own endings huh? I don't blame them.

So, if you can choose to reject the choices presented and turn the situation into something good, Bioware, why can't Shepard?

Glad the kids got the cupcakes in the end. I like happy endings.

The irony. The sweet delicious frosting-covered irony.

Do they pick red, blue, or green?

NONE! They reject all the colors and choose the more logical and productive fourth option.

Hint hint... nudge nudge... wink wink...

Bioware "rejecting" the cupcakes in favor of a more positive ending is some great symbolism. It also leaves all parties involved looking good. Retake has already given to kids, and got creative with the protesting, Bioware passed along the goodies while still "getting the point" we were trying to make.

I'm totally okay with that. Good on you Bioware.

But they ruined the artistic integrity of our cupcakes.   :(

I propose a follow up cupcake campaign:

1. We donate all of these cupcakes to a shelter somewhere or an orphanage , what have you
2. it's another 1000 dollar quick campaign
3. We promise the kids 16 different flavours
4. We ACTUALLY GIVE THE KIDS 16 DIFFERENT FLAVOURS

BioWare did a good thing by giving their cupcakes away . But just like they did to us , they gave away the same flavour cupcakes .

Why don't we show them that this is what it feels like when kids receive 16 different flavours to choose from ?

Win for the kids
Win for Retake

And the message of Retake with this one is not "oh hey , we are giving to charity look at us"

It's "Look at how much 16 different flavours is really so much better and we're SHOWING that by feeding kids for free"

Therefore the message will have NOTHING to do with a 'game should have a new ending !' but rather "hey kids , would you rather have 1 flavour or 16' ?

This and others like it catch the point well.

Glad I've learned that feedback can only be celebratory of the work.
(Maybe that's a tadge too bitter? Yeah, it is... gonna keep things sweet instead.)
Glad to know someone who appreciated it got the cupcakes.
Glad I got to donate (got lucky, you had to be quick, it flew up.)
Glad to know more schemes like this could be planned.

Wait! Bioware cheated! There is no 4th ending option!

To charity? Well played Bioware, well played. :) Though I guess Thomas is now dissapointed for not getting cupcakes afterall...

I'm sure they probably kept a few boxes.
