It's really annoying to not be able to play with friends when playing with random people works. :(

Yeah, hope they fix this in the next patch. Would be nice to know if they're working on it or not. Its just less fun with random people...

Hashed up a quick guide to troubleshoot connections, could be a good idea to double check the steps mentioned in it.

Hopefully the problems are cased by small overlooked details.

Bumping, having same problem, i hope they fix it, i also tend to think that the problem lies with origin, and I'm hoping that they fix it when origin is not pre-release.

Honestly, this is most likely tied to the general connection problems EA seems to have with their servers that they are not acknowledging even exist. I have had connection problems of every single sort since Day 1, and none of the 2 fixes I have found has really actually fixed the issue for long.

One would hope they would fix this, but considering how many have been having these problems since Day 1 and there hasn't been a single mention of problems from EA itself, its unlikely.

same problem...looks like a "handshake" problem between Origin added friends and EA established Mulitplayer servers.

Same problem here. We can also seem to get around the problem by having a third friend host the game and both of us join in, but this is a shaky workaround at best, since we won't always have a third friend available.

I've also had frequent disconnects from the EA server tonight, with the result that I'm booted out of my current game (and no XP/credits to show for it either). The problem only started tonight, and I haven't changed anything on my modem or router. The only culprit I can think of is the fact that I updated the Origin client this evening...

Same problem here, forwarded the required ports but we still have it.

We have some workaround but that doesn't work everytime. Set up a private game, don't  have the host invite through the game, click your friends name (the host) on the origin friendlist and join that way.

I was able to join a game yesterday by clicking his name in Origin and I was just on the desktop without having the game opened.

Anyways, the matchmaking is horrible, we sometimes have to try 10 times...

this is my thread over the same problem. It seemed to be resolved but today I had the same problem again and plus I had an online pass error which pops up and when click ''ok'' nothing happens. I can play anything random but friends game.

Hope the problem I have today is temporary, Otherwise its completely unacceptable and is killing the whole excitement. Should be adressed shortly.

I've had this problem since the demo, which is sad. My brother and I, who live in the same house and use the same router, have never been able to play together if either of us are hosting. Sometimes my brother can connect to a game with a friend as the host, and I can't connect to the same person. I don't know if being on the same router is related to the overall issue, but the fact that I can't play with my brother is a tremendous loss of enjoyment for me. I should add that this is the only online game we have had this problem with.

I find it disheartening that there has been no mention of this issue from Bioware, even though it has been there since the demo. It doesn't look like it's being addressed in the next patch, and I worry if it ever will be.

Bumping for attention. Come on Bioware, we just want to be able to play the game as it was intended to be played.

I also have that stupid problem. I can't even join ANY game, neither my friend's game, nor a random one. It only works for me when using a LAN connection TOGETHER WITH my WLAN connection but this can't be a permanent solution because then, the cable is laying all across the floor.
When I played it the day it's been released it still worked fine with WLAN only. The day after it didn't... and what's the current update's focus? - Face Import. Many of thos people having face importing problems might have beaten the game by now anyway. And with all those ending beating it a second time isn't really that much of an option. But dealing with Multiplayer problems - problems that even exist since the beta... why do I get the feeling that nobody really gives a thing... :(

I have a solution that at least works for me now.
I opened UDP ports 3659 & 6000 and enabled UPnP.
Then I had to disable the one thing, that prevented me to connect to any Server: Hamachi.
Therefore I opened the properties of my WLAN network and disabled the option where it allows your network to be also used by other users, so no one else but me could use my WLAN connection (I'd like to tell you what it is really called but I have a German OS).
Then I removed every standard-gateway Hamachi used in TCP/IPv4. (this one might be not necessary at the end but you know... just to be sure)
At last I had to turn off Hamachi AND disable my Hamachi Network completely.

After that, MP worked again for me.Sometimes it takes a second try to connect to a friend's game.
I hope it also works for some ofyou guys.

I was affected the whole time from this bug...yesterday i changed my IP Adress settings for LAN connection, and now i can properly join friend's hosted sessions and vice versa: just check your ip adress settings if you're using a fix address or dynamic adress...i used a dynamic.
Then i entered a fix ip adress, subnet, gateway, DNS server (my router), and right after that, joins were possible, tried multiple times (private game, public game, Host created by me, Host created by friend.

I have a static IP and it still doesn't work...

But still even if this works for some it's still a bug that needs fixing. Because you can't expect someone to know how to forward there ports etc.
