Ok i fixed it yesterday.

Well, the problem why I did not tried this before was the fact that i was able to host a game when I did not create it in the first place. (When i became the host because the initial gamecreator left) so I did not believe that the problem is on my side. (wich is logical in my opinion)

Well... yesterday i tweaked my IAS Server and realized that the UPNP Rule is there but not activated. So i activated that rule (wich allowed forwarding of UPNP as a client AND a host) and now creating a game works perfect.

Maybe this helps someone here. Not able to let friends join your game or join a friends game is a pain in the ass.

DasLeid, can you write, what you do? because i have the same problem as topicstarter at window7 - we cant connect only with one friend of my list in origin. i tried all (ports, upnp), but it dont work. interesting, that the same sh*t in bf3. and the most interesting - sometimes we can connect to each other, why - i dont know, but most of time - not. and at most games (when we connect to our friend) i see red mic at my friend.

I solved it by changing the firewall rules of my IAS Server (Windows Server 2008).

My Clientfirewall is disabled but i took a look and their are the same rules. I hope i can describe it correct because my OS is in german so i googled to find the correct wording in english:

In Windows 7 move to your Firewall Settings an click on "advanced setting". There you will find the inbound and outbound rules for your firewall. Under the inbound tab search for "Networkdiscovery (UPNP)" and activate the rule if it isn't already. Check the properties of the rule and be sure that you have checked "Allow connection" under "Action", hit OK and move to your outbound rules and search for "Networkdiscovery (UPNP)" and "Networkdiscovery (UPNPHost)". Activate both rules and check if they are set to allow.

Thats basicaly what i changed on my IAS Router to make it work.

And by the way... You and your friend need to have this rules active. Otherwise it is not possible to play together. (For some reason it worked for my friend and me if another person opend the initial game. Don't know why and where the logic lies behind this fact)

Maybe the problem lies on the client of your friend. As I said before, i couldn't join a friends game, but this friend couldn't join my game either. After changing my Router setting he can join my games and I can join his games. It is possible that upnp os blocked by a hardware router wich is installed between your/his modem and client too.

Mine has a static IP. But the weird part is that i can join her friend, who is on the same local network so he goes through the same switch and router as she is.

I just had this same weird issue. I was trying to play with my friend and her partner from Germany and I got stuck at loading screen. Odd thing is, we switched host, and I tried hosting. She could join, but her partner couldn't join anymore and was stuck at loading screen. The thing is they both share the same local network and router. Then I got disconnected because of my internet dying, she then became the host automatically. I tried joining back, and I could, but her partner still got stuck at the loading screen. it's like my client isn't playing nice with her partner's client or something. Though we shared a game a week ago without issues.

I wonder what's the problem with that weird issue.

I believe that the problem isn't about connecting with friends specifically, I think this is a general connection issue. Because I'm almost 100% sure that everyone here, at some point, had problems when using the Quick Match, for example, I've read in other threads people saying that they can hear other people voices , but they still in the "searching match" screen ( like the "Joining game" screen), there are other related issues like losing connection inside the lobby or in the load screen between the lobby and the match.

The problem with connecting with friends seems worst and specific because we're trying to do specific things, it's different from when we are playing with other people, if you lose the connection or something like that you'll just look for ANY other match.

Sometimes, after several attempts, we and our friends are able to connect and play together and sometimes it even works in the first attempt, but sometimes it's just impossible to connect, the difference is that instead of looking for another match, we just keep trying to enter in that "problematic" one.

Me and my friend have been getting the same problem since the start of this week - things were fine before that. Now, we can't join each other's games. We've figured out that if we search for a specific game (i.e. Firebase Ghost, Geth, Silver), we have a chance of ending up in the same game and playing together. Otherwise it just doesn't work. Nothing changed in our network settings, it worked fine before. Argh.

l see no logical explanation for that thing. Some people can join me with no problems, others can't. And vice versa - I cannot join some people, even though their IP appears on my connection list. Neither me nor any other friend having these problems did change any network settings. It worked fine on one day and then it broke. Just like that.

No, I'm not using any firewall and my uPnP is enabled.

Bumping this.

I've been playing since the launch, no problems whatsoever. Had Contacts who I could join into private games all around the world. Then today a friend of mine got herself the Collectors Edition and logically we wanted to play together.
Fat chance.
When I or another friend of mine host the game and she joins, she gets stuck and, as described before, it won't work the other way around either. What works (strangely) is joining a quick match, then inviting each other to that (but good luck with timing that. Joining fast enough is close to impossible on anything other than gold.). We went through a lot of similar threads and tried their solutions, but to no avail. Posting here now, because I would really like to be able to play with her, and I'm still hoping there will somehow be a fix for this.
Please dear support, hear our cries! Is there at least an explanation as to what reasons there could be?
Thank you kindly for your time <3

Happened to me twice as well. I mean, with two of my friends. Each of the two can't join games i create, i can't join games they create, but if someone else creates a game, we "both" can join it no problems.

That said, dozens of other friends of mine can join games i create, and i can join theirs.

It is _ridiculous_. Really.

Bioware PLEASE answer!! Was chatting with EA technical support. Tryed a lot of different things. Nothing helps. Finally operator suggested me to go here and ask you or other players ))) It's awfull support, but I don't care - just help! Multiplayer is awesome, but this thing spoils everything!
P.s. Tried EVERYTHING!
P.p.s. Everything was ok before server maitanance shutdown.

I stopped playin for the last month single player and multi.. This is rediculous there's not a patch yet, guess my collectors edition is just Gunna gather dust once again. I dont play multiplayer games by myself and quick start is not Gunna happen. Until I can play with my friends and start transferring soldiers to my single player im not touching this game. Love spending 80 dollars on what was supposed to be enjoyable but ends up wasting 3 hours of my life just trying to join a friends game. We both just won't touch it until someone fixes the problem. I keep checking but it never says there's an update so I just put it back in the case for another 2 weeks or so. Way to go out with a bang lol

I think I've been having a similar problem to some of the people here and have a theory on how to work round it.

In my household there are three of us who play ME3 and we have a few other mates who we play multiplayer with. Troubles happen any time more than one person in my house is playing. We start finding that someone can't join or when they do join someone else gets kicked and can't rejoin. For example, I host a game with a friend from out of town. My housemate gets home from work and decides to join us. As soon as he does the guy I was already playing with loses connection and can't rejoin.

The work around: The last person to to start running ME3/Origin has to be the host. Every time we have tried getting different people to host until we successfully have everyone together it has always been the person from my house who was last to start the game who succeeds. This means we can never join an ongoing game as we know it will kick someone. We have to wait until the current game is finished then get them to join a new lobby.

Hope that works for some other folks.

Edit: I dread having to try to set up a game with two people from my house and two people also sharing a single network...

Still doesn't work lol it's been months I doubt they are even trying. I'm about to just sell it and just see the endings online and tell my friends they might as well sell theirs.. I can't get a clear explanation on how to work with my router that's worked. Only time it's ever worked is when he was on my router. I'm pissed.
