The only problem with lore in ME3 (sans endings) is the willingness of Legion to use Reaper tech to give the Geth a future.

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed this. I always wondered y the Geth choose the 'easy way' out all of a sudden. Granted, the Quarians seem to have blown up the Dyson Sphere but what's stopping them from building another? Too much speculation already :pinched:

@Cheez:

Epic 'rant'! Very well said... cheers

While I completely understand your "There was no chance to challenge the Reapers face to face and prove to them that they were wrong, that we were stronger than they thought, that we were worth more than they gave us credit for." part, there's one HUGE problem with this.

The game pounds it into your head over and over and OVER again:

The Reapers CANNOT in any circumstance be defeated via conventional warfare. Standard rules of engagement and strategies do NOT apply.

How do you "prove you were stronger", when the means to do that won't work?

you blow up 2 destroyer class reaper's using and orbital strike and rockets.

No where is it stated the Protheans were capable or even close to beating the reapers. Not once.

Hackett says so. So to does an actual Bioware dev.

Unfourtunately for you, Javik says the EXACT OPPOSITE about 10 times.

Again, almost all of your points were either wrong or you didn't pay attention to the story.

Don't worry the ME3 endings aren't real. If you look very closely at the endings it will become clear.  But I will say no more. Though I do feel bad for folks who continue to dimiss such claims even when the evidence is continually staring them in the face. As someone who nitpicks everything, trust me on this.

Sounds like denial tbh.

hella gud denyl tbh

Actually  this doesn't reflect upon me at all. Yes, Javik makes it clear that the Protheans were a multiracial group. But the fact that Liara contradicts herself isn't MY fault, kid. Its the writers fault. Same with the prothean perspective shift in ME1-ME3.

ME3 isn't any MORE valid of a game than ME1 is. So, with that in mind, what perspective are we supposed to take?

Nice try though.

@ Shin-Anubis

On the topic of Legion. It wasn't a retcon per se. He simply didn't know just how much the Geth would evolve when upgraded with Reaper code. It would be similar to a human being recognizing how beneficial it would be to have knowledge downloaded directly into your mind or tech that artifically enhances intelligence. You would be apprehensive at first, maybe even refuse it, but if it forced on you, like Legion, then you would have no choice but to recognize its value and its advantages. He said it himself in ME2 that separation was their weakness, a weakness that the Quarians exploited, and when a great many of Geth where destroyed that became all the more apparent. He even said it himself that while the Geth don't agree the the goals of the Reapers, after the upgrades the growth they experienced was beautiful, and indicative of life, and corrected the weaknesses that the Quarians used to nearly exterminate them. Honestly, if we were faced the the options of "evolve or die", regardless of philosophy a vast majority would choose to live. Such is the same with Legion. He was faced with the same dilemma and chose accordingly. All in all, it was a natural and logical progression given the events that transpired.

Well done Cheez. It's difficult to put into words just how much love many of us have for our characters, and how we felt after the ending, but you did it justice.

Great rant and one I can 100% agree with. It's one thing to analyze the **** out of the ending and point all the logical inconsistencies that are there. But you focused on the emotional impact it had and all I can say is you nailed it. And, tbh, what you described is far more damaging to the ME universe and my experience I had with it than all the logical problems that are there.

Great post. Might want to paste that rant into the suggestion thread and/or user reviews, in case devs miss it in this wrecktrain of a forum. It's valuable insight and they should see it.

A remarkably well written and comprehensive post, Admiral. Your sentiments echo my own and I too am disappointed with how things turned out. I'm glad we have someone with sway and charisma on our side. Spirits willing, some good will come of this.

Thank you.

This is beautiful. I can't say I feel exactly as you do, but it's damn close.

Mass Effect means something to me, and that is why the ending was so painful.

Thank you. I hope they see this.

Even though I do not agree on your opinion on the ending, which I found beautiful and strangely satisfying (and even though I´m slightly worried about your obsession with the Mass Effect saga ;) ), I tip my hat to your writing skills and the effort you put in to state your case.

To quote Wrex: "Sometimes crazy is the best way to go"

Nice to see Cheez around again :)

I agree with you, even though I can´t say I am/was THAT emotionally invested...
And I also agree with what she said about the ending - it just didn´t fit and I do think the ending of the trilogy needs a more epic ending than that...
