The Citadel's entire role in ME3 in both a retcon. A station-- a stationary base -- shouldn't be able to travel.

STOP.

NOPE.

NOPE NOPE NOPE.

Look, you can keep your other criticisms, but in space, NOTHING IS STATIONARY.  There ARE no "complete stops" in space--the Sun is moving so many miles per second through space in relation to other stars orbiting the Milky Way's center, Earth orbits the Sun, etc (and even then, motion is relative).  And since it's so easy for something orbit/tragectory to be interrupted (all you need is something with enough gravity to get too close), you'd be an idiot to not have at least some kind of emergency propulsion system for course corrections.

OKAY MINOR SPACE FLIGHT 101 DETAIL PLEASE CONTINUE.

THIS. SO MUCH THIS. :D

I was holding the line for a better ending, but now that I have actually played my Shepard through the game...I don't know if it's worth it (if anyone is wondering, I went ahead and spoiled myself to see what the furor was about).

I expected to be even more annoyed when it was my own Shepard being subjected to it, but...I honestly don't know what I feel now. The final mission was tedious in the extreme (and seemed like it belonged in a different game *ahem*) and the ending...I won't even go there other than to say that I don't know if there is anything Bioware can do to fix it. It is so...wrong...for this game, so out-of-place, so...insulting...that I think it has completely killed the series for me--and not in an "I lament the loss of such a good friend" kind of way, but in a "why did I ever like this person?" kind of way.

I literally hated every second of it, right down to the way it made Shepard into a bloody, mangled mess that had to crawl around in misery on the floor. This is not how a hero gets treated (in good story telling).

To the bioware developers. I wholeheartily agree with cheez's post. I too felt entranced by this video game series like no other. And like her I thought mass effect 3 was the best in the series. Heck the multiplayer I have grown to play a lot, even got to take part In the couple of weekends that you had events on it. But the last 5 minutes of me 3 just let me down so much. Now like her I don't blame you all for trying something different. But this ending is just not up to what you all can do. I only just recently found the forums, but it's nice to meet up with people who love this series as much as I do. So to sum it all up, bethesda did it to fallout 3 and made that a much better game. Me3 deserves that same opportunity.

Well written and represented. I could not have written it better.

I second this post and its meaning. Bioware, we love you guys, you are brilliant. Make sure your work truly reflects the abilities you have.

I can say with the utmost confidence that feel the same as the OP. This is the greatest epic of my generation, this is our Star Wars. Don't let it end like this.

Well written, agree on most points...and no swearing and threatening the people responsible or taking hostages!!!! Take notice, people. This is the way to communicate. Constructive criticism, not destructive. Wish i could ....not very good at this, so keep it up, please, for us lesser persons.

This gif is so appropriate.

Damn Cheez, you command a lot of respect around here. You even got a mod to reformat your post. Even the usual suspects that argue to keep the ending as-is have avoided voicing anything negative.

Bravo!

I'm sure its been suggested many times, but does anyone have a thread link to ACTUAL endings that would make people feel that they weren't shortchanged? In other words, what would RGB be replaced with that could be affected by our previous decisions?

Well, i can't be left behind, now can i?

Cheez, i agree totally. The end of ME3 sucks so much, it has its own vacuum, and manages to suck up the other 2 fantastic games + the first 95% of ME3. Such a waste.

So, i agree with your post 100%. (Only i played the male version of Shepard. :))

I actually got spoiled on the ending before I even got the game (I was waiting around for the CEs to ship to our backward little country of Russia), so I came in morally preparing myself to be let down. The game tried its hardest to convince me it was awesome, and I actually cried a few times - I saw all three conclusions of Rannoch because it took me two days to finally unfrell the broken save import that prevented me from getting the best one, and I cried on every one of them - and Garrus's speech in London, oh god I cried so hard.

And then I stopped. I stopped in London for two whole days, not wanting to leave. This was the perfect ending, what our dear friends at TVTropes call a "Bolivian Army Ending" The army prepares for the final assault, sets off... roll credits. And gosh darn it to heck, it would've been a better ending than what we got.

So yes, I raged, I fumed, I wrote my own "here's my ending" thread (which nobody replied to and it sank, probably because you shouldn't write your own fix fic ending only to justify Shep using "F*** you and the Citadel you rode in on" as his last words), but that's okay too, because it's not as good as some of the fanmade ending proposals I've seen around.

And you know what? I still loved the game. I just hated the ending. And so it joins the company of KotOR2 and Deus Ex HR as "games that are fun to play, but by Arioch, try to find a comfortable place to abandon the story before you reach the motherfrakking ending".

And yes, I wish I could've put all my grievances as eloquently as the OP did =)

This needs to be read by everyone at BioWare. This sentiment echoes almost every fan that I've spoken to in the last two weeks, including my own. You guys made a masterpiece and then slipped and spilled red paint on it. It needs to be restored, it CAN be restored, and you owe it to yourselves (not us) to restore it.

Cheeze-
Thank you. I feel the same way about the ME universe. I stumbled upon it by accident and fell in love. So much so that I have bought a lot of ME stuff.

I have never cried playing a video game until ME 3. Especially when there was no way I could save the character. Mind you I don't really cry at movies either. The ME world made me so invested with the characters. . ME3 was an emotional roller coaster ride. When I got to the end after the ride I felt deflated, shocked. I was numb. I had to walk away. Could not sleep that night and it has taken me a week to start playing another Shepard.

What you said says it all.

I don't often read a wall of text. But when I do, it's probably Cheez's. Thank you for posting this. You give voice to the experiences of many.

Edit: I'd like to further clarify, that Mass Effect was the first video game that made me care about the characters, and ME3 was the first media that had me shed (not even remotely) manly tears for background characters (Char's last message). Just thought I'd share.
