Those final moments effectively destroyed the universe I so fell in love with. I am not even kidding. My choices, all my hard work, the reasons for my multiple playthroughs, were trivialized.

Sounds familiar.

Pretty funny how she has no issues when Renegades,Cerberus fans, Morinth fans,Zaeed fans, etc get screwed but when the devs incovenience HER then they finally DONE DIT NOW,no?

Hey Cheez, all that mental gymnastics you pulled over the devs not planning jack **** that resulted in them creating a weak Deus Ex Machina plot didn't do you any good now did it?

Hope you enjoyed the ending because I sure as hell have and I hope you plan on supporting Bioware by getting whatever Omega and multiplayer DLC like I will.

There's no way someone (besides me) genuinely enjoyed the ending, flaws and all. This has got be some kind of sophism.

There is no way the both of you ain't lying.

And we didn't complain about renegades getting screwed because they deserve it.

One of the better posts, because it feels... genuine. It represents everyone a lot more than some of the other write ups. But the only critique I have (and this kind of contradicts what I just said) - OP could have done a better job explaining why the ending shat on everyone. Why it single handedl, one by one, dismantled everything she loved about the universe, and the story.

I mean, I think it's important we know why the ending is so bad, instead of "it sucks". The DEVS need to know. Beause believe me, they will try to spin this as: oh, well she just didn't get our vision. So we'll release some DLC to clear up our genius ending, and then she will understand where we were coming from.

But yeah, the post really captures the emotions many of us feel.

I'd need about three epic rants to nail down everything wrong with the endings.  I tried to summarize the general "what's wrong with it" here, but yeah, I see your point.

HERE'S A LIST FOR FUNZIES:

1. Kid was stupid.  Dreams of kid were stupid.  Having final opponent appear as kid was mega stupid.  Those dreams should have been scrapped, or about fallen comrades or something.  The final confrontation should have been with Harbinger.

2. That Stargazer scene was kind of tacky and did not need to be there.  That advertisement for DLC sure didn't help, either.

3. Squadmates/Normandy, what the hell are you guys doing?  Weren't you fighting on Earth?  How did you get way over there?  What's the point of crashing you guys on some random jungle planet?  Why did none of you say anything?

4. After the Suicide Mission, I was expecting to see some SERIOUS variation in the final battle due to in-game choices I'd made.  Where were the fleets and troops I'd rallied?  Why didn't I get to use those war assets?  How come my squaddies and I didn't get to do anything cool?  THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN SUICIDE MISSION TIMES ONE THOUSAND BUT LOL NOPE.

5. Conversation with the Catalyst was too short.  Shepard should have called him out on his BS, asked tougher questions, et cetera.

6. So, what happened to all that foreshadowing about dark energy and genetic diversity, hmmmm?

7. Do not rip off Deus Ex.  However, if you absolutely must rip off Deus Ex, make sure it actually fits the themes presented in your creative work, and make sure it doesn't LOL SPACE MAGIC.

8. SYNTHETICS AND ORGANICS CANNOT COEXIST?  WHAT?  CATALYST, HAVE YOU BEEN PAYING ANY ATTENTION WHATSOEVER?  GETH?  EDI?  HELLOOOOO?!

9. Why do the Relays go kaboom?  I mean, it's an interesting concept and makes speculating about the future kind of fun, and I get the need for the galaxy to purge itself of Reaper influence, but dude.  DUDE.  No Relays?  SUCKS.  Tali's never seeing her homeworld again.  Garrus is never seeing his family.  Wrex is never going back to his people.  The turians and quarians are going to starve.  The Normandy crew is stranded.  Oh, and let's not forget what happens when Relays EXPLODE, okay?  Arrival?  Supernovas?  Worst of all, the Citadel had tons and tons of people living on it, so when it explodes... you get the idea.

10. Ending cutscenes were too similar.  The differences between what each of Shepard's choices does are huge.  We should see that, and we should see how it affects everyone, not just the ruins of London.

11. Little bits of closure sprinkled throughout the game is pretty cool, but that doesn't mean you get to skimp out at the big lump that should come at the end.

12. Dude, where's my boss fight?

All of that is small potatoes, compared to the whole ME universe getting flushed down the toilet which is exactly what the RGB has done. This is bigger than any one fangroup.

Very eloquently put Cheez. The details may be different but the plot of our plight is basically the same. All of us that invested so much in this series just need to know it was all worth it.

To be fair everybody on the Citadel was probably already dead.

Maybe it's cus I'm an old gamer now... but I was sooo grateful there was no "boss fight" in ME3... it's a tired old gaming staple I've had to put up with 29 years or so and I'm sick of it... it's an archaic concept and system and feels artificial and "gamey" ... it cheapens the narrative... frankly the whole notion of "boss battles" needs to die in video games... it's an outdated tool that doesn't belong in modern games.

You've been playing video games almost twice as long as I have. I feel in awe of that. While I don't have too much of a problem with boss battles I felt it was a surprisingly good move for ME3 not to include one.

While I agree in that a boss fight can often detract from a game, if it's implemented well and fits naturally in the game, then I'm completely for boss fights. It's when they're forced that I hate them. Then again, I hate when anything in a game seems forced.

I think the post speaks for most of us. Love the games ME1 - ME3 and up until the end it was a great game... The ending was crap... sorry. We love the game, we love the developers, but the ending doesn't fit, doesn't cap off a wonderful series. It undermines everything we've come to expect and feels rushed. Waiting patiently til April (hoping for good news).

Excellent, excellent post, Cheez.

I'd like to rant myself on the trolls who stop by these threads to "enter, fart, and leave," stating poorly-worded and irrelevant rebuttals of an OP. I suppose by now , however, I should be used to them, and ignore them. Anonymous rudeness is so cowardly, though, as such cowards hide behind usernames. Right to privacy apparently also a side effect of "license for rudeness." Don't know that I'll ever be even "okay" with such behavior.

You probably have a thicker skin than I, Cheez. Apologies for my mini-rant, but I don't like seeing your fine writing needlessly sullied.  And I'll finish (so I don't get the thread OT) with another bravo. Outstanding effort; thank you for the time you put into this post. I concur wholeheartedly. You captured for a great many of us what we feel for these games and about what the ending did.

Why even try to build up The Citadel's defences? Shows why that task was a waste of time.
