I absolutely agree with Cheez, the last 5 years of Mass effect has been incredible, the series has set standards at an all time high that very few developers will ever match, let alone surpass.
This game, this electronic device, has moved thousands of people in so many ways that is unprecedented and we're not just talking about Mass Effect fanatics, I myself consider myself a great fan of the game, but not a fanatic, I would never even bother trying to calculate the speed of FTL, or remembering every piece of lore in the Mass Effect series, but this game has moved me in many ways, from inciting my rage at Saren for killing Nilus, to the happiness I feel when listening to Joker, to the sadness when a colleague is sacrificed for the greater good (yes i almost blubbered when mordin started singing).
I can not believe that a company, a gaming industry 'bloody icon' like Bioware could take us through all that, those hundreds of hours, and then give us an ending that totally shattered the experience in 10 minutes. We do not know the reasons (and I expect that we will never truly know) why this happened, be it that they ran out of time (with unwarranted pressure), they planned this from the start keeping the true ending aside to present the biggest twist in history (which looked less likely after every passing day) or that they simply thought that it was good enough as it was (which I sincerely hope is not true). To be honest, I bought this game knowing full well that Sheperd would not be coming back from this and I was OK with it, he/she was the hero of the story, it only seems right that he/she would sacrifice themselves for the rest of the galaxy, but to do it in such a poor way was a disgrace to the legacy that they created.
Albeit all this, we must never forget that this company gave us one of the best gaming experiences ever and that they do deserve our praise, no matter the outcome, but I implore Bioware, please, provide us an ending that is truly worthy of your fans, that is truly worthy of this masterpiece that is Mass Effect and that is truly worthy of yourselves.
Thanks for reading

A perfect summation of how most of us who have a problem with the ending, feel about the ending. +1, and kudos to the Admiral.

Probably one of the best dissents from the ending I've seen.
Best of luck, Cheez.

This is exactly how I feel, Cheez.
And to think that right before ME3 came out I went crazy and decided to do a speed run of the series. I did EVERY SINGLE side quest in ME1/2 before the release of 3...and for what? Sure, along the way it was great to see some of the consequences of those missions, but ultimately I feel like it was a waste...the ending...it's just...I have no words.
Note, I fully enjoyed doing everything. It was actually the first time I played Mass Effect with the intent of creating a "Canon Shepard" and it was an effing blast. I can't help but feel...defeated...like I did all of that for nothing...(with the ending in it's current state. The indoctrination theory helps...though it doesn't heal the wound...)

I felt the complete opposite on the boss battle on Rannoch. It was video game-y, oldschool and while it could have been done better, I had fun with it.Hathur wrote...

12. Dude, where's my boss fight?
Maybe it's cus I'm an old gamer now... but I was sooo grateful there was no "boss fight" in ME3... it's a tired old gaming staple I've had to put up with 29 years or so and I'm sick of it... it's an archaic concept and system and feels artificial and "gamey" ... it cheapens the narrative... frankly the whole notion of "boss battles" needs to die in video games... it's an outdated tool that doesn't belong in modern games.
I'm against doing boss battles for the sake of it and on an old way. But I liked their tries, enjoyed a ton and facing Kai Leng on Illusive Man's room was epic.
A confront with Harbinger shouldn't be ultimately necessary, but it should be done. There should be reaper minions in the Citadel and a confrontation with them and Harbinger in space with the fleets on your side and some way to take it down would frakkin' epic!
Imagine how better would be if that laser wouldn't be on the conduit but is part of some last surprising shot from Harbinger before the Fifth fleet or something else destroy it. Shep still wakes up next to the Catalyst activator but so wounded he/she can't take it...before he's get up by his squadmates! They're also wounded as hell but the three of them are able to do it and the Crucible do its job of hurting the reapers enough so the Armada can take them down or not according to your EMS. No god kid BS, no force controling the reapers, no deus-ex machina but a direct fight against the ultimate Shepard enemy. And he could only do it because he/she had allies.
Anderson should be there somehow though, well TIM-Anderson-Shepard's confrontation should be...this isn't perfect...yet.

Hit the nail on the head. We wouldn't even bother coming to BSN to complain if we weren't ME fans. But it's time to see something changed.
Hold the line.

My advise is to let ME3 go and move on with your life. There are so many other games out there, and more in the future that will captivate you in the same way Mass Effect did. Hell, chances are it'll also be done by bioware.
Like many people, I was emotionally distraught for a brief period after seeing how Shepard's story ended. But honestly ultimately its just an ending to a form of entertainment. An ending will not have any major impact on your life, or your being - and nor should it. If you allow an ending to a form of media to have an incredible emotional impact on your being, you have far bigger concerns than simply fixing an ending, and you're life will improve ten fold if you fix the issues that make you emotionally dependent on a video game.
That isn't to say I'm saying that is the case in OP's example, but I've seen many posters talk about ending induced depression and quite frankly a fix to the ending is only going to cover up more important cracks in one's being.

Quoted from OP "It’ll take an enormous amount of courage, effort, and humility to make this right, but please. Guys. Don’t let the greatest epic of our generation die like this.
But that’s just my opinion.
[Formatting fixed.]"
No Cheez it is pouring out your feelings like that on this forum that takes an enormous amount of courage, effort, and humility even though majority of people on here are cool.
My Wife feels the sameas you, ending just left me feeling empty inside. I was in denial for a while but i think they really planned it this way.
