Really well done OP, you managed to sum up exactly how I feel about this whole thing.

Cheers. McBeath.

My own take is slightly more that, over time Shepard became a little bit of me. And in killing Shepard, and effectively the ME universe, Bioware killed me, and left my friends stranded somewhere, unable to even retrieve my sorry corpse and give me a decent burial..

It hurt..

So true Kilshrek; I started ME1 creating a Shepard in my own image and I felt like that was me throughout the series.  To end it like it did felt like a part of me - a virtual one - vanished.  Well said.

And OP... Great job with your piece!  Echos my feelings exactly.

You already publicly admitted that you're a female gamer. What can be worst than that?

Don't make me post really ugly pictures of myself again, because I will!

Anyway, wow, I really am in awe of all the positive commentary.  It doesn't even feel like the BSN; no one's fighting in here or anything.

Granted, it's JUST ONE THREAD, but still.  Wow.

you pierced through all the crap and got to the heart of the issue. Theres great clarity in the BSN now. You did something not any of us could do since the game first came out and the ending came to surface. Your Shepard would be proud. :P

of course no one is fighting Cheez. When it comes to the endings, most people come to one of three conclusions:

1. It was ok, but very confusing

2. It sucked but did jot ruin the overall experience

3. Kill it with fire

Truth be told though, no matter which one you pick, we all come to the same basic conclusion.

See what I did thar?

Very well said Cheez. Thanks for the great post. I hope Bioware devs know we do respect them and we love the ME franchise.

Cheez united the fleets of BSN. What will she do with this newfound power?

Reminds me of the first Deception thread. So much solidarity in that thread.

That was a pretty hardcore thread.  Never participated, but read it religiously.

Worth a bump... and most definitely remove the "buy moar stuff" end screen, it is counter productive: if the game is good the fans will beg you for DLC if it is not they will just burn you in effigy with it.

Ladies and gentlemen, I believe the good admiral has summed up what we all think. Maybe I am a little starry eyed but in this current world of gloom and doom, maybe people just simply want a good ole-fashioned, fairy tale ending. You have my +1 Admiral.

Kudos Cheez. Eloquent and moving meditation on what so many of us experienced through the whole ME1 - ME3 cycle. Except for a few of the personal details, you've pretty much told my story, and that of so many other fans I'm sure..

I hope the devs read this and give it the consideration it deserves.

This is the exact reason that people are upset about the ending and still many refuse to acknowledge it as something to be legitimately upset about. This right here is exactly why the ending is bad. Not because it is trying to be artistic or have some deep meaning that you really have to think about to understand, it is bad because of everything Cheez said.

Cheers to Cheez!

Amazing. I don't think anyone could say it better than you have here. I totally agree, and I hope, so very much hope, that the devs and the higher-ups listen and take action on the ending, and give us one worthy of the series. After all, do they want to be remembered for this horrible, horrible ending, or do they want to be remembered for crafting something truly great and inspiring?

Thank you.

Also, Cheez, if you haven't already, it might be worth you mentioning your epic rant in a tweet to @MassEffect, just to help make sure it gets seen by the right people, since they seem to be using that account to help gather feedback.

Well done bit of writing there OP, Kudos. I just want to say, I never expected a happy ending to ME3. I was actually of the opinion that everyone would die and the finale would be more or less as advertised, bittersweet but hopeful. Naturally that's not what we got, and I take it as an affront precisely because while I did not expect "unicorns and rainbows" I did expect Victory, and I didn't much like being denied that. Bioware could still set things right, but I'm really more inclined to think things will remain as they are. It is nice however to see eloquent and topical posts like this supporting the call for change.

It seems to be a common misconception that the "y'know, we're really not happy with the ending, guys" crowd are composed of spiteful malcontents, complaining because they hate bioware.

I'd prefer to believe it's more than we really, really like Bioware and what they produce, and given the choice would prefer to carry on doing that. Let us want to carry on doing that, plx.

(Late. Brain tired. Cheez right. Sleep now.)

I don't drink alcohol trololololol.

I'll make you some spiced hot chocolate with a little whipped cream on top or something.  My hot chocolate has been known to rock worlds.

Everyone, I'd like to make it clear that I'm talking about non-alcoholic beverages.  Spiced hot chocolate with whipped cream on top is NOT a euphemism for sexual activities.

However, now that I've pointed it out, none of you will be able to see it any other way.

What are these sexual activities you speak of, and do they in someway involve a rowboat? If not, I think I've lost myself somewhere. I'm not quite sure there should be bean bag chairs everywhere either. I believe my thought process is flawed.

Exactly! Make it happen Admiral! We must be united on all fronts. Hold the line! (Yeah, corny I know but still a good point. Everyone who cares about this issue NEEDS to see your well written thoughts on this thread.)

Because attempting to use social media usually has me hiding under my bed with a small, child sized blanket and speaking in gibberish for a good 12 hours.
