I went through most of the game with Liara and Garrus with some occassional missions concerning the Geth where Tali substituted Liara. I used EDI the whole one time she was required, Vega before I got Garrus, and Javik none (though I do plan on using him on Thessia next chance I get). By the looks of most playthroughs, most people had the same configuration.

Who were your most common squadmates?

Used whoever made the most sense story wise to take on each particular mission (Like Ash & Vega for when you first get back on earth) otherwise I switched them around equally.

I did take my Shepherds best friend & LI for the final assault though. (Garrus & Tali)

In other missions Liara + whoever had best skills against specific enemy.

But once I got Ashley back, I always had her with me (she replaced Vega) and I still switched out Liara and Garrus depending on the mission.

It's a tough choice sometimes. I want to hear the things Javik, EDI and Vega say. Then again, you want to bring along the ones who were with you through all of the games so you don't miss some good lines. (even if it's just a Hey yo! from Jacob or EDI's Jacob didn't recognize me in this form)

TL;DR Garrus/Tali or Garrus/Liara

Played as a vanguard. Had Liara for crowd control and biotic explosions. Then needed someone with tech powers so usually Garrus but sometimes EDI or Tali.

They were also my squad in 1 and 2 as well, once applicable they never left my squad.

I always use different squadmates for different missions, so that by the end of the game I've used them all. But if I were to pick two who got the most use, it would probably be Liara and Garrus by a small margin. Javik would be closely behind.

Kaidan was with me a lot, since he was my LI, but I often shuffled the team around according to missions and what races were featured.

Given the mission or context I would change things up but usually:

Garrus, Liara and Ashley. Javik comes in a close 4th. I never really used EDI except maybe once and Ash can replace Vega easily enough.
