No one cares. Not a single character. Only you will know. Use blood wound mid fight? No one bats an eyelash. Use blood sacrfice on Wynne? Not even a raised eyebrow. 'Tis quite disappointin as it really takes away from some roleplay options that may be otherwise viable.

Yeah this was a real disappointment for me the way they go on about Blood magic you think somone would at least comment on it?

I found it humorous when I first used the slit-your-jugular-bleed-on-the-ceiling spell form Warden's keep, getting blood all over my companions without anyone stopping for a second and having a wtf moment. "Me, a blood mage? Nooo, where did you get THAT idea from?" There was also that whole, chose the evil option and reload the game glitch that allows you to become a rever/blood mage without actually screwing people/companions over. I still handed over Conar though, getting the extra spell slots along side the Blood Mage specialization. Does anyone find the blood mage tree useful? It just did not seem worth the spell slots to me..

Hmm, I haven't played a Blood Mage yet, but this just sounds retarded.

So you can use Wynne and Alistair as mana taps and they put up with it?

No, just no...

MistressMagee, I like the blood mage line because one of the spells allows you to make a monster defend your party, and I always choose the mages to use it on. Genlock Emissaries are great for that. Also, there is a blood mage spell that is area of effect that sucks life from lots of enemies at once, which I find to be very powerful. The graphics are entertaining too.

On top of which you can spec Wynne into a blood mage which is even more retarded.

Some specializations should be locked for certain NPC's. Reaver for Allistair, Blood Mage for Wyne, etc..

Yes this is dissapointing.

What they should have done is having more companions that some are only unlocked depending on your specialisation / decisions.

For instance, if the broken circle had a 3rd option, like it should have, of supporting Uldred, then what could have been done in the situation is this. If you enter the circle as a blood mage (or declare yourself as a sympathiser, if you don't have that specilisation, or reveal it if you do have it), both Templars and Wynn will attack you. Uldred will like you when you reach him. An alliance is prorposed and he will send with you a blood mage as a companion, replacing Wynn. You can't have both the blood mage and Wynn in the same party.

Another example could have been havign either an elf or a werewolf as a party memeber depending on our decision.

I wouldn't be so disappointed if they hadn't promised repeatedly that some characters would refuse certain specializations (the obvious ones being Wynne/Blood Mage and Alistair/Reaver). Oh well, I'll keep my spec-choices in all playthroughs for RP reasons anyway. (Morrigan/Blood Mage, Alistair/Champion, Zevran/Duelist, Leliana/Ranger, Wynne/Arcane Warrior, Oghren/Reaver.)

Remember you can always save and reload - that's how I got both Blood Mage and Reaver.

What does that have to do with anything?

Once a specialization is unlocked it stays so for all saves across all characters.

edit: the point being that a) there's no need to worry about anyone leaving your group and B) you can still get a spec by loading a prior save without having to redo everything you've done in the meantime

That shouldn't be allowed either.  This is supposed to be a game of 'choices', and if you make a certain choice you should have to live with it.  If you reload, you should lose the spec.

I've just unlocked 'Reaver' on one of my playthroughs, and in doing so I've had to kill Leliana because she turned aggro on me - which didn't really surprise me, considering.

I agree with this as well altho I did reload after unlocking Blood Magic but only because I wanted the talent boost.  Demon still got her way.

FYI if you harden Leliana she won't attack you.

I thought I saw a REaver Manual in the Alienage in Denerim... In the Store. Might be mis-remembering, tho...

I think everyone must have dementia.  I throw around Blood Magic like it's going out of style and no one notices.

It's so funny when there is a quest item to "prevent us from being mind controlled by the blood mages" and not only was it totally useless cause the enemy bloodmages never seem to cast that spell but also cause i was the one doing the mind controlling. Hilarious!

I had Morrigan use Blood Control on the caster Darkspawn General in Denerim to see how damaging it could be and ended up controlling him instead.
If she could, I have no doubt Morrigan would have "evil laughed" herself into a coma over how no one noticed she had a General doing a little dance for her. How can you not notice something like that when all you have to kill is a badass general and some one-hit-wondergrunts?
